Garage House in Kokubunshinmachi

　A weekend home built in the suburbs of Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. This structure resembles a small house nestled within a warehouse, where a multi-purpose space and storage area integrated with the exterior occupy two-thirds of the total area. Leveraging this unconventional layout—distinct from typical residences—the design explores new possibilities for sustainable architecture. Combining traditional wisdom with modern technology, it stabilizes the thermal environment within the living spaces without insulation. This is achieved by surrounding the living areas with non-living spaces like the multi-purpose area and storage, which function as air pockets.
