Fika Sauna

　As part of the Kirishima Jingu Station Area Revitalization Project in Kagoshima Prefecture, a prototype sauna was constructed by integrating traditional Finnish (Fi) construction methods with Kagoshima's (Ka) resources, environment, and culture. Students led the entire process from design, through construction method evaluation using mock-ups, material procurement, to actual construction. Located with the JR Nippo Main Line behind it and the Kirishima mountain range in front, this sauna allows visitors to enjoy the scent of locally sourced wood, the sounds of birds and wind, and the occasional passing train.
