Tai Lin (Taelin) Karidi

Hi, my name is Taelin but please call me Tai :)

I’m a third year computer science Phd student at the Hebrew University (HUJI) under the supervision of Omri Abend, working in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). 

My research lies in the intersection between geometry and computational linguistics. I am interested in utilizing geometrical structures in order to understand better the information encoded in multilingual representations and improve current technologies that can greatly benefit from better cross lingual transfer, especially in low resource settings. The main motivation in my research comes from deep questions in cognitive science that can be approached using computational tools. I am also interested in multicultural NLP; how to assess LLMs cultural knowledge and how to bridge cultural gaps in LLMs by incorporating diverse cultural knowledge and linguistic nuances. 

• I am very fortunate to be an Azrieli fellow and a Vatat scholar (and previously a Leibniz and CIDR scholar). 

• I am a co-founder of the "Women in CS & Math club @ HUJI". 

• I volunteer as part of "The Autographers" to document the stories of Holocaust survivors.
