FIFA is the highest body of Football. Same way World Taekwondo (WT) is the highest body of Taekwondo. Taekwondo is a core Sport in the Olympics.

Taekwondo Association of West Bengal is the only Official Body, responsible for West Bengal under India Taekwondo (IT) – Official National Federation under World Taekwondo (WT), Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU).

“India Taekwondo” (IT) athletes can only participate in the Official Events of the World Taekwondo (WT) including Olympic, Paralympic, World Championship, E-Sports Olympic Games, Grand Prix etc…

In West Bengal “Taekwondo Association of West Bengal” (TAWB) & their affiliated members can only use the logo of India Taekwondo (IT), World Taekwondo (WT) and Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU). No other organisation in West Bengal can use the logo of IT, WT, ATU.

Our motto is to create a scope and opportunity for athletes of West Bengal, nay India. Taekwondo is the second most populous sport next to soccer.

World Taekwondo Plaque of Appreciation

On 5th February 2020, Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy became the first individual in India to receive the esteemed "World Taekwondo Plaque of Appreciation" from Dr. Chung-won Choue, the President of World Taekwondo (WT).

The World Taekwondo Plaque of Appreciation is a prestigious honor bestowed by World Taekwondo (WT), the governing body for Taekwondo worldwide. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and promotion of Taekwondo globally.

Grand Master Roy’s contributions have not only helped grow Taekwondo in India but also elevated the country's stature in the global Taekwondo community. His tireless work in nurturing talent, fostering international collaboration, and creating opportunities for athletes has left a lasting impact on the sport. This award serves as a tribute to his hard work, dedication, and vision, and signifies a proud milestone for the Taekwondo community in India.

This recognition is a significant moment in the history of Taekwondo in India, and it sets an inspiring example for future generations of practitioners, coaches, and enthusiasts who aim to make a global impact in the taekwondo world.

On the kind invitation of Respected Dr. Chung-won Choue, President of World Taekwondo (WT), Pioneer Taekwondo Personality Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy and Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury visited the World Taekwondo Headquarters and held a highly successful meeting focused on the development and promotion of Taekwondo in India.

The global slogan of World Taekwondo is: “HARMONY BRINGS GLORY.”

During the meeting, Dr. Choue encouraged Grand Master Roy to continue supporting India in restoring harmony within the Taekwondo community.

We are glad to inform you all that on 26th November 2025, Respected Dr. Chung-won Choue, President of World Taekwondo (WT), graciously conferred the prestigious “WT Commendation Plaque Award” upon Pioneer Taekwondo Personality Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy, in recognition of his contributions to the development and promotion of Taekwondo.

Master Pradipta Kumar Roy and Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury were felicitated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in 2009 for their outstanding contributions to Taekwondo. They hold the distinction of being the first Taekwondo athletes to receive this honor.
