In 2005, Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury earned a remarkable Silver Medal in Kyorugi at the prestigious Korea Open. Competing against some of the world's best athletes, Korea claimed the Gold, India proudly secured the Silver, and Japan took home the Bronze. The India Team was supported by HYUNDAI Motors, who graciously sponsored the team, making this remarkable achievement possible. This outstanding achievement by Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury not only highlighted her exceptional skills but also marked a significant milestone for Indian Taekwondo on the international stage.
In 2023, Prof. (Dr.) Debasis Bhattacharyya, the esteemed President of the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal (TAWB), made a significant visit to Taekwondowon, the global epicenter of Taekwondo located in South Korea.
