At first, the Pinewood Branch was created without a specific reason. As the branch has grown, we have found an important purpose to continue collecting used batteries and recycling them. Earth is the only place all of us live in. If we ruin it, where else can we go?
Pinewood Branch has grown significantly since its start. We have managed to set up 3 new collection sites, and help collect up to 4,000 batteries. We have left battery collection buckets at the Cypress Senior Apartment and Concordia Lutheran Chinese School. Recently, one of the biggest achievements we had was getting in contact with CEWS, an e-waste organization, and participate in one of their e-waste recycling events. CEWS (Corporate E-Waste Solutions) has hosted many recycling events all over Southern California, including cities such as Irvine, Bria, and Cerritos, recyling 70 millions pounds of e-waste in 2021. CEWS doesn't usually collect used batteries or hazardous waste, but we were able to join them in an e-waste event where we would collect any batteries that people brought with them. We managed to collect 1,523 batteries from citizens residing in Cerritos, La Palma, and Cypress.
