ABOUT

Table Topics are a project made by the Prevention and Education team at the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children in Waco, TX. These cards are designed to be used by families and individuals of any age. Whether someone is 6 or 60, our hope is that these cards will foster communication, growth, and connectedness.

Each card has a title, brief definition, and 1 to 3 questions. They are designed as a loose roadmap, so you can edit or change questions, add new ones, and adapt these cards to your family. Different people use these cards in different ways. Some families talk about one card at dinner time as they're all gathered around a table. Others talk about the cards on the way to or from school, while on walks with the dog, or during family game night.

For information about getting a physical deck of cards (in both English and Spanish) or general information about violence prevention at the Advocacy Center, email Aleigh Ascherl (Prevention and Education Director) at aascherl@advocacycntr.org. You can also find general information about the Advocacy Center at advocacycntr.org.

Other projects of the Advocacy Center include By Youth For Youth, a conversation card deck about healthy relationships designed by and for high school students, and Real-ationship Goals Podcast, which you can find anywhere you listen to podcasts, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Anchor, and more.
