Impactful literature that shapes my teaching philosophy.

Essentialism in Education.
Essentialists hold that there is a common body of knowledge that must to be taught to students in an organized, methodical manner. This conservative viewpoint places a strong focus on the moral and intellectual values that should be taught in schools. Academic rigor and fundamental knowledge and abilities form the foundation of the curriculum. Despite sharing many similarities with perennialism, essentialists are open to the possibility that this fundamental curriculum will evolve. Education ought to be useful in helping students become contributing members of society. It should emphasize "the basics," teaching students how to read, write, communicate, and compute straightforwardly and logically, as well as the facts (the objective reality of the outside world). Discipline, respect for authority, and hard work are things that students should learn. Teachers are to help students keep their non-productive instincts in check, such as aggression or ignorance (Sahin, 2018).
