Cutting Your Design

After you have completed your design, you now need to prepare the Cricut Maker 3 machine for cutting it.

Before cutting, you will need to ensure that you have selected the right kind of material for cutting and pressing. For this custom design T-Shirt project, you will need to use the Everyday Iron On material, which is a heat-transfer vinyl.  This type of vinyl is made of two layers: the colorful shiny vinyl layer and a dull transparent backing.

As well as the material, you will also need the Standard Grip Green mat and the Weeder tool

Step 1 - Power up the machine & connect a device to it

Step 2 - Make it!

To cut the design on an Everyday Iron On material, you will need click on the Make it button on top right-hand corner of the screen.

Then the Prepare screen page will appear, ensure the on the top left of the screen, it reads Basic Cut or Cut

Still on the Prepare screen page, turn the Mirror button on. This is an important step because you want to flip the design on the mat so the design looks right when it is applied on the T-Shirt.

When prompted by the flashing Load/Unload button, place the mat into the machine and then press the button.

Once the material has been loaded, you will be prompted by the flashing GO button. Press it to start the cut.

After the cutting process, you will need to peel the unwanted vinyl from the transparent backing using the Weeder tool. Pierce only the vinyl by placing the Weeder tool into it at a 45-degree angle and peel.
