Combat Medics are a division of the Doctor's Department that works closely with the Sheriff's Department, but they are not law. They provide emergency medical treatment during combat situations such as fort and bank robberies while also assisting the Sheriff's Department during training sessions and active situations.
The Combat Medic role is classified as an ADDITIONAL responsibility. Combat Medics are expected to work as normal doctors; answering (/alertmenu) calls in addition to their Combat Medic duties.
Combat Medics operate under the Doctor Department chain of command. They must, however, respect the Sheriff's Department chain of command and respond to orders given by Deputies and other ranking Sheriff's Department officers during combat situations. Failure to abide by these instructions, or follow orders could result in removal from the Combat Medic role.
Anyone interested in becoming a Combat Medic must have been promoted to the rank of Doctor for at least 1 month before submitting their application.
Application Form
Combat Medics will be selected via an Application Process. Any Doctor can apply to become a Combat Medic, by completing the Combat Medic Application forum. The Doctor will be asked what skills they possess that will benefit the Combat Medic Team and to provide information regarding availability to better enable 24-hour coverage for the Sheriff's Department.
Key Attributes
Combat Medics will be Doctors who have displayed essential abilities; remaining calm under pressure, an event temperament, teamwork skills, etc... they will have demonstrated a mature, responsible attitude. The Combat Medic must have no recent strikes on their Doctor Record, or other discipline issues noted.
Active
To obtain and remain a combat medic, you must activity perform your regular doctor duties and meet activity. Not performing these duties will result you in being rotated out and removed from the position of Combat Medic. Once rotated out for inactivity, you must wait 1 month meeting activity to reapply back for the position.
Inactive Combat Medics or those unable to combine Combat Medic and Doctor duties will be rotated out. This will ensure those who can equally balance their time with this role have a chance. If you are marked absent, you will be removed from CM status and receive a 2 week suspension to ensure you are still active as a regular doctor.
Combat Medics are part of the normal Doctor Department Responsibilities, but they are to remain white-collared and they are still Doctors with additional requirements placed on them by the Sherriff Department.

Combat Medic
Combat Medics work with the Sheriff's Department. They are first and foremost Doctors, but they have additional duties. Combat Medics can assist the Sheriff's Department during training sessions, bank robberies, and fort robberies, providing medical assistance as necessary. Combat Medics are not considered combative, but can protect themselves necessary when fired upon or in immediate danger.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Medical Assistance at a Bank, Store, and Fort Robbery.
- Assist at Sheriff's Department training sessions.
Combat Medic Rowboat Repair
Combat Medic Rowboat Repair is a role given out to a trusted Combat Medic to liaison basic training responsibilities when a Logistics Secretary is unavailable. They have no power or higher ranking and should be treated just like any normal Combat Medic.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures new Combat Medics are properly trained and consult a Logistics Secretary should they feel that training is not adequate.
- Basic Combat Medic Duties.
Non-Combatant
Combat Medics are classed as non-combatants. Becoming a Combat Medic is not an excuse to shoot at criminals, lasso suspects, etc. Combat Medics are expected to stay well back unless deputized by Deputy+. They are on scene to offer emergency medical treatment if it is required. Combat Medics can defend themselves, but only when attacked and not deputized. They should match force with force and not shoot unless shot at, after ensuring they are following the Fear for Their Life rule.
White Collar
As a Combat Medic, you are expected to be white-collared, which means following the County Laws and not being a part of criminal activity. Stepping out of white-collar status means a corruption charge as a Combat Medic.
Experienced Doctor
Must be a doctor for at least thirty days. Combat Medics work closely with the Sheriff's Department, and many of the situations they encounter will be dangerous. Combat Medics are expected to behave maturely. There is some leniency behavior-wise during the Sheriff Department Training Sessions provided. With Combat Medics having the ability to be deputized, we need to show we can be mature with the responsibility of having this ability.
Truthful
Combat Medics cannot lie to law enforcement. If they ask you a question regarding a scene, you have to tell the complete truth. This means you cannot even speculate, you have to be 100%. For example, if you are not completely sure about a suspect description, you need to specify to the lawmen that you are not 100% sure. If not, it can be considered corruption to give an improper description and/or falsely accuse someone.
A Doctor Above Everything
As a Combat Medic, it is important to note that you are a doctor above everything. This means you can not neglect your doctor duties to solely focus on Combat Medic duties. It is important to spend equal amounts of time performing your doctor duties of focusing on your /alertmenu calls as well as riding with law and/or going to lawmen training.
Respectful
You must at all times remain respectful to the Sheriff's Department Chain of Command and respond to orders given by Deputies and other ranking Sheriff's Department officers during combat situations. Even if you do not like the person they are asking you to revive, as a Combat Medic, you need to respect the officer who asked you to revive the person. There is no such thing as a refusal of service if the person asking you to revive the person is from the Law Department. If there is an issue with them not showing you the same respect back, please bring it to your Combat Medic Chain of Command.
Active Combat Medic/Patrolling with Law
If there are not enough active doctors on duty, you cannot be an Active Combat Medic. These rules do not affect responding to requests for law revives if you are found and stopped in the county, only standing by at Banks and Forts while scenes are ongoing.
Requirements for being Active Combat Medics:
Requirements to Combat Medic Activate (Respond to request for CMs at Forts and Banks):
- 3+ doctors on duty, not including those active as Active Combat Medic
Requirements to Patrol with Law:
- Duty Requirements: 3+ doctors duty, not including those actively Patrolling with Law
- Have to have attended a training in the last 2 weeks, if one has been held within that time frame.
- Has not withdrawn from a law training within 1 hour of the training starting without making a ticket in the last 2 weeks, or been late to a law training without a ticket in the last 2 weeks.
Uniform
Combat Medics have a special Combat Medics Uniform (see below). The Combat Medic Uniform must be worn when the Doctor is working as a Combat Medic, whether during Sheriff Department Training Sessions, when responding to calls for Combat Medic assistance with Bank Robberies and Fort Robberies, or while on duty riding along with your everyday lawmen to law scenes. When the Doctor is on duty and responding to calls, they can wear the Uniform appropriate to their doctor's rank OR the Combat Medic Uniform. The only exception to the rule is when riding along with undercover lawmen, the Marshals, to ensure we do not give away their identity. But this can only be done if they ASK you, and it must remain within the doctor uniform guidelines of being professional.
Ride Along With Law
Combat Medics have the unique ability to ride along with on-duty lawmen. You must be in an appropriate Combat Medic-approved uniform. Combat Medics are allowed to patrol with the law. Not only are they allowed to patrol, but it is encouraged for them to do so when there are a lot of doctors on. We give up a lot for our close relationship with the law and take advantage of it. This is only allowed while there are 3+ doctors on duty.
Deputize
Combat Medics can be deputized by the SYN County Law Department. Any Deputy+ can deputize a combat medic, and you will count towards law numbers, so make sure they're aware. To be deputized, you must be in a recognizable combat medic uniform and hear the words "You are Deputized". If there are too many laws, you have to stand down and sit on the side as a normal medic. If they are short in numbers, they may ask for your assistance. It is important to remember that you are only deputized when the lawman who deputized you is present, and we do not order around/arrest anyone for everyday law breaks, we are just the hired guns. If you are deputized and put on crowd control, we cannot issue lawful orders to get civilians to leave the area, but you can tell them that if they don't leave, you'll get a deputy who does have the authority to order them to leave.
New Combat Medics will be selected from the pool of submitted applications when spaces in the Roster appear or additional coverage is deemed necessary. All new Combat Medics will attend Combat Medic Orientation held during one of the Lawman training session and go through some shadowing before taking an assessment to become full fledge Combat Medics.
Combat Medic Orientation is a one-on-one class led by the Combat Medic Secretary. It should cover all aspects of Combat Medic Training.
- Outline of Combat Medic Role
- Rules & Responsibilities Regarding Attendance
- Picking up Combat Medic Requests & Limitations
- Behavior Protocols - Where to Stand / What to Do
- Training Session Protocol
- Bank / Fort Protocol - How to Revive Lawmen / Suspects
- Uniform
Potential Combat Medics should shadow a Combat Medic Rowboat Repair during the shadowing session after first attending Combat Medic orientation.
- One Sheriff Department Training Session
- 10 hours in the field with Combat Medic Rowboat Repair
- Witness 1 Bank, Fort, Wagon or Store Robbery
- One Lawman down
After all of the above is finished, you will take the first CM assessment. After this you will be able to patrol/respond to calls on your own, but you still cannot be deputized.
After doing all of the above. You must ATTEND the two lawman trainings and participate, once you complete the classes you will have to take an additional assessment to be Deputized.
The two trainings are:
Combat & Tactics
Robbery Response & Negotiation
All Combat Medics will be required to join the Lawman Discord, this discord contains confidential information that should not be shared outside the team nor used in the county on other characters. When you are accepted into the program, an invite will be sent after you complete your orientation.
The Lawman Discord will be used to request Combat Medic assistance for Training Sessions and Bank / Fort robberies. When a Combat Medic is about to act in their capacity as a combat medic they will need to use the appropriate roles in the Doctor Discord.
Questions pertinent Combat Medics can be asked via the Combat Medic channel in the Doctor discord, or open a Combat Medic ticket and the Combat Medic Secretary will be able to help.
Requests for Assistance (Banks/Stores/Forts)
The Lawmen will use the registry or pigeon-mail in the Lawman Discord to request Combat medic assistance. Combat Medics can only assist if there are more than 3+ Doctors on duty/clocked in. If there are less than 3+ Doctors clocked in then the Combat Medic Secretary must approve the request before a Combat Medic can attend.
Is it okay for a Doctor to respond to a Lawman's request and act as a Combat Medic at a Bank, Store, or Fort if they were off-duty when the request came in, as they are not affecting the number of Doctors on duty?
No, the Combat Medic must be on duty, and active in the county during the time of the request for assistance. Combat Medics cannot go on duty specifically to deal with Fort, Store, or Bank Robbery assistance requests.
Why? For several reasons.
It is unfair to other doctors who are currently on duty, especially if Doctor numbers are low when the Combat Medic could assist them with alerts. Not doing so can lead to negative feelings directed toward Combat Medics. It also gives the impression that Combat Medic requests are of higher importance than normal doctor duties. The Combat Medic role is an additional responsibility, it is not an alternative responsibility to doctoring.
Can multiple Combat Medics respond to a call?
The first Combat Medic's to respond to the request via Registry or Discord should be the ones to handle the call, unless another is already on scene. Since, combat medics can patrol in groups of 3 per law group, if you arrive at a scene and other combat medic's are there, confirm help is not needed and if not, leave the scene. The only other exception for multiple combat medics on scene is due to a Future Combat Medic's training period where they are required to Shadow.
The Lawmen sent a second request, a Bank Robbery was happening at the same time as a Fort. Can one Combat Medic go to each?
If more than one Robbery or Fort is taking place and the Lawmen require Combat Medic assistance for both, 3+ Doctors must be on duty for a second Combat Medic to attend the second request. Combat Medics should never assume Combat Medic duties and leave one Doctor answering all alerts alone.
A Lawman stopped me in the street, they needed help with a Bank Robbery. Can I assist as a Combat Medic?
Yes, if there are 3+ Doctors clocked in and on duty. In-county requests have the same requirements; 3+ Doctors must be on duty before the Combat Medic can agree to assist. Any request for medical assistance will need to be done through the Doctor Alert (/alertdoctor).
I went down during an active lawmen scene, what should I do during this situation?
If a Combat Medic goes down during a scene, they should not re-enter or continue interacting with that scene after revival. Another doctor should take over while they recover.
A Marshall just ask me to go to Guarma with them, can I go?
Yes, if a Marshall ask if you can accompany them to Gaurma you can go, but you have to be off-duty. This is an at your own risk request. Coverage still applies.
Sheriff Department Training Sessions are handled differently. They will usually be announced ahead of schedule. The Sheriff's Department will state a date and time and ask if any Combat Medics can attend. Combat Medics can react in the lawman discord if they are able to attend.
How are Sheriff Department Training Sessions Handled?
A Combat Medic will be allocated to the Training Session. Future Combat Medics will have to attend for Combat Medic training purposes. This will be a part of the Future Combat Medics Phase 1 training.
Do Combat Medics go on duty for Sheriff Department Training Sessions?
No, Combat Medics should remain off-duty in the county for the duration of the training, but click on the Combat Medic Law Training button in the Stamp-Clock. The Sheriff's Office will pay the Combat Medics for their time during these training sessions at the following rates:
- LESS than ONE hour = $250
- MORE than ONE hour = $400
This is all different for Combat Medics that are ATTENDING the training session. If you are ATTENDING you are to be off-duty and you will not be paid by law.
Any Deputy+ can deputize Combat Medics because they go through the same lawmen training and are white collar. Bounty hunters are more restricted because they are not required to be white collar and there is more risk in doing so, meaning only a Caption+ can deputize them. However, we've also agreed that a Combat Medic can turn down being deputized, even if they're qualified. It is not an obligation, not everyone wants to be deputized. Please make sure to inform the lawmen you are riding with if you do not feel comfortable being deputized. Any further concerns for them can be directed to the Combat Medic Secretary.
To be able to be deputized you must attend the following Law Training (as a participant):
- Robbery Training
- Combat Training
To be deputized you must be in a recognizable combat medic uniform. If there are too many laws you have to stand down and sit on the side as a normal medic. If they are short in numbers they may ask for your assistance. It is important to remember that you are only deputized when the lawman who deputized you is present, and we do not order around/arrest anyone for everyday law breaks, we are just the hired guns.
(These deputization rules are agreed on by Connie and Dr. Liza in the lawman discord, and any changes will come through them.)
