Members of the Doctor’s Department must adhere to certain rules. If you break these rules, you risk being fired and/or receiving a corruption charge. A corruption charge blacklisted you from every whitelisted society (Barber, Doctor, Lawmen, Mayor, and Newspaper) on your account as a whole and not just as your doctor character. A trainer must explain their necessity/importance.
The following information is provided for reference:
Doctors are encouraged to wear predominantly WHITE uniforms for easy identification by SYN County citizens. If you prefer not to wear white, an alternative is to use the Doctor Armband, an exclusive item that signifies your role and can only be worn by official doctors. Remember, armbands must only be worn on duty and cannot be used when involved in any criminal activity. Additionally, they are non-robbable, so you’ll receive only one during your tenure. (You can obtain one by contacting someone on the Hiring or Logistics Team once you have the necessary materials: 1 cloth and 1 red paint.)
The color RED is designated for Combat Medics alone, as it serves to identify them by the Law Department. Wearing RED, whether ON-DUTY or OFF-DUTY, prohibits any criminal behavior, as any misconduct while in the color is considered corruption. Beyond these guidelines, you’re free to personalize your uniform’s style, provided it remains professional.
Doctors are required to clock in, go on duty, and respond to at least one traveling alert that includes a patient revival every seven days. Part of a doctor’s role involves travel, but we understand getting alerts is hard, so 5 revives during a duty period is an acceptable. Consistently performing only the minimum may prompt a discussion about commitment to the role, and if a pattern emerges, it may lead to removal from the position.
While on duty, being mentally absent or “in your head” is strictly prohibited. Frequent instances of this can result in termination. We conduct weekly activity checks to ensure everyone meets their requirements. Extended absences may lead to removal from the Doctor’s Department, and absentees will receive a ticket notification as a warning, allowing time to improve. These reminders are typically issued before the weekend to maximize response time. However, repeated absence and continued notifications will increase the risk of termination.
Doctors who fail to clock in without submitting a valid Leave of Absence (LOA) may be marked Absent. An LOA can be requested for any reason, such as health issues, vacations, real-life work, or a break from the department. If you anticipate being absent for more than seven days, submit an LOA to the Logistics Department, which grants a leave of up to 30 days from your last recorded activity. Doctors without an LOA risk being marked Absent and may face removal from the department.
You can request an LOA through #📝│role-and-paperwork or #🔖│handbook. Note that the LOA system is not intended as a substitute for part-time status, and you must have at least 14 days of activity between LOAs to prevent misuse. While on an LOA, you’re still welcome to go on duty as you wish, but it ensures you won’t be required to clock in every ten days during your leave.
Going on duty solely to avoid being robbed is considered an abuse of your whitelisted job privileges. If you are OFF DUTY and someone approaches with the intent to rob you, DO NOT switch to on duty to evade the situation. This applies even if you "forgot to go back on duty" previously—wait until the encounter concludes before returning on duty.
As a community, we should hold a greater value in life. We know change is scary, but people need to feel the effects of their choices. Do not revive the same person twice in 30 minutes. If you come up on someone you just revived within a 30 minute period, let them re-alert to get a different medic or offer to drop them off at the witch doctor.
Exemptions to this rule are on-duty Lawmen, Doctors, Combat Medic Lawmen Trainings, RDMs, and scuffed patient situations (For RDMs and scuffed patient situations, save a clip so there are no questions). Syn Staff will be monitoring this rule, if there is a question to the revives they will ask us to look over our #💩│duty-revive-tracker. (If found to be using your revive exemption as a way to not value life, you will risk termination.)
Doctors must adhere to Federal Law/Server rules and fear for their lives. If ordered to leave a scene, you should comply. When a Doctor arrives at a scene where people are shooting, they should stay well back. They should not put themselves in a position of danger.
Reviving mid-fight is considered abuse of a whitelisted job. Do not go running into a dangerous scene to start reviving people, even fellow doctors, and wait for the scene to be clear. If Lawmen are on the scene after the gunfights end, doctors should wait until the situation is under control, remaining well back until it is safe to approach.
Self-defense is a last resort, to be used only when there is no other way to protect yourself from harm. Meaning doctors are allowed to defend themselves if escape is not an option, provided they respect fear-for-life protocols and follow gang/family guidelines. While matching force with force isn’t required, this does not give permission to kill someone over verbal insults. Likewise, provoking someone in hopes of a violent response is strictly prohibited. If someone nearby makes a clear threat of violence, you should leave the area to prioritize your safety. Instigating violence with intent to justify murder is a Blacklist Offense.
As a regular Doctor, you may commit certain crimes while OFF-DUTY, but you must wait at least 10 minutes before going back on duty after committing any crime. Failing to do so is considered power-gaming. Despite this flexibility, doctors are expected to maintain a positive reputation with SYN County citizens, meaning you should follow lawful instructions, avoid interfering in situations outside of your role, and never impersonate a Combat Medic. If given a lawful order, you must comply. Remember, as a doctor, your criminal activity should be discreet and never public.
Breaking any part of these rules will lead to dismissal and/or blacklisting from all SYN County whitelisted jobs, meaning you will lose any positions within the Barber’s, Doctor’s, Lawmen’s, Mayor’s, or Newspaper’s Societies. If you have a different pair of shoes across these societies, you’ll be terminated in each position.
The following restrictions apply to all doctors:
No killing, robbing, or stealing from others’ properties, including horses, hideouts, camps, and wagons. You may not hire or ask someone else to do so on your behalf. This rule applies both on and off duty.
If you must kill in self-defense, it requires undeniable evidence, such as a recorded clip of the full interaction. You may not provoke others into attacking you just to justify a kill.
Doctors, except for Combat Medics, may own or belong to hideouts (Illegal properties), but you CANNOT participate in raids on others’ camps or hideouts (the act of attacking others property) unless defending their own. Combat Medics are permitted to defend their camps. If you are on duty when you are notified that one of your properties is being raided, you must go OFF-DUTY before making your way to defend it.
Selling or possessing contraband is allowed, but you cannot sell items and immediately go on duty to avoid being robbed. A 10-minute delay before going on duty is required.
You may rob forts and banks and engage with law enforcement if necessary, but you may not initiate these encounters or seek to harm lawmen beyond self-defense.
You cannot use your doctor position as a cover for crime, which damages trust in the role. For instance, you cannot collect bodies of criminal associates under the guise of doctoring to shield them from law enforcement, as this crosses into Barber territory.
Additional guidelines:
You may take hostages (e.g., for a bank robbery) and engage in minor assaults, like roughhousing with friends, as long as these actions do not escalate to murder or robbery. Even so these assaults should only be done outside of town limits or within the pigpen. However, instigating a shootout or provoking violence is not allowed. Combat Medics, whether on or off duty, should avoid such behavior entirely, as it is considered corruption.
Lastly, law enforcement cannot access an on-duty doctor’s zipped pocket. So if arrested/detained you must go off-duty immediately, refusing to do so and involving an admin may lead to a ban. Combat Medics must remain free of criminal records, as they work closely with law enforcement and are prohibited from using their position for personal advantage (e.g., knowing how many lawmen are around so you can sell Heroine for example.)
You are allowed to join any gang or family, but please keep the following in mind:
Leave all wars and fighting to the non-doctors in your group. This includes avoiding the role of a “pocket medic” during gang fights—leave that to the Barbers.
DO NOT stand by on the sidelines during property raids.
DO NOT participate in hunting down targets.
DO NOT get involved in instigating fights or wars. If you’re part of any baiting or setup that leads to an assault, you’ll be held accountable for those actions.
As a doctor, you may work as a Doctor-for-Hire during pre-approved events, with a temporary exemption from the Value of Life rule. To arrange an event, open a ticket with the secretaries in #🗄│open-a-ticket for approval. During these events, you can set and keep your own event fee (minus the revive fees), with recommended rates of $250 for under an hour and $400 for over an hour, though you may charge any amount for your time and on-site presence.
Event rules are as follows:
You must still charge $30 per revive using the /bill command, except in cases where specific exemptions apply.
You must remain off-duty for these events, as they do not count toward your activity requirements.
Ensure there is adequate doctor coverage in-county before attending any event.
Additional guidelines:
For Combat Medic events, approval from the local Sheriff is required, and a lawman must be present throughout the event, following the same protocol as in-county duels.
You cannot be hired by a Bounty Hunter to assist in tracking targets, as this is Barber territory. However, you may help with their training.
Participating in Train Security also falls under Barber territory. You may provide revives on the train but cannot assist with security tasks.
These guidelines allow for flexible participation while respecting boundaries with other roles.
As a doctor, you have the right to refuse service to unruly patients or those who give you an in-character reason to decline treatment. However, if law enforcement issues a lawful order to revive a patient, you must comply and provide the revival. Note that refusing service is a personal choice and cannot be enforced upon others.
Avoid using #💬│general to warn others about specific individuals causing trouble or continuing to act disruptively post-revival, as this is considered metagaming. If a patient is consistently disruptive, this is a staff concern and should be reported through the proper Syn County channels. Do not attempt to resolve the situation yourself by withholding treatment or detaining them; such actions violate server rules and will result in termination. One rule violation does not justify another, so allow staff to handle these situations.
