“El Concurso de Cante Jondo se gesta en un ambiente netamente artístico, con notables antecedentes en la pintura, el dibujo, el grabado, la fotografía, el cine, la literatura, la música y la danza.
Significó un antes y un después en la consideración y dignificación del flamenco.
Se concibió como un acontecimiento de arte total donde los espectadores participaban con una indumentaria especial, la luz, los colores, el decorado del acontecimiento, la participación de los escaparates de las tiendas, la presentación de los actos, y los olores con juncias y mastranzo alfombrando el suelo. Sin olvidar el proyecto pedagógico de creación de una escuela de Cante Jondo.
The Cante Jondo Contest takes place in a purely artistic environment, with notable backgrounds in painting, drawing, engraving, photography, cinema, literature, music and dance. I mean a before and after in the consideration and dignity of flamenco. It was conceived as a total art event where the spectators participated with special clothing, the light, the colors, the decoration of the event, the participation of the shop windows, the presentation of the acts, and the smells with sedges and teacher carpeting the floor. Without forgetting the pedagogical project of creating a Cante Jondo school”.
