Dr. Syed Adnan discovered a profound interest in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS) after successfully completing his undergraduate studies in Forestry from Pakistan. This fascination prompted him to embark on a journey of advanced education and research in this captivating field. As a result, he accomplished a Master's degree in Remote Sensing and GIS from the esteemed National University of Sciences and Technology in Pakistan. Ever since, he has wholeheartedly dedicated himself to exploring various facets encompassing these subjects with unwavering passion and dedication.

Dr. Adnan completed his Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Forestry and LiDAR remote sensing in 2020 at the School of Forest Sciences, University of Eastern Finland. The focus of his D.Sc. dissertation was on assessing forest attributes, specifically forest structures and aboveground biomass, using LiDAR Remote Sensing. He has presented his research at several well-known conferences in the field of forest sciences, including ForestSAT 2022 at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, XV World Forestry Congress 2022 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, XXV IUFRO World Congress 2019, Silvilaser 2019 conference in Brazil, and ForestSAT 2018 at the University of Maryland, US. Additionally, during his D.Sc. studies, he worked as a visiting researcher at the Department of Plant Sciences (Forest conservation and ecology research group) at the University of Cambridge, UK.

At present, Dr. Adnan works as a Senior GIS and Remote Sensing Expert at Arbonaut Ltd., Finland. He is also a Visiting Researcher at the School of Forest Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, Finland. His current research focus is on forest attributes modeling using LiDAR remote sensing datasets.

Previously, Dr. Adnan has held various positions such as Early Stage Researcher at the School of Forest Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, Research Associate (GIS) at the Urban Policy Unit of the Planning & Development Department for the Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jr. GIS Professional at The Urban Unit in Punjab, and Deputy Ranger at the Swat Wildlife Division for the Department of Wildlife in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
