Over the course of my teaching career, I have been working to improve my ability to integrate technology into my instruction. I have been focusing on moving from just enhancing my instruction with technology to transforming my instruction with technology. Below you will read about some of the ways I use technology in my classroom, but there are many other ways as well.
Students researched an author using PebbleGo, an online database for children and then used a website called Flipgrid to record a short video of themselves sharing their research. 1st Grade students then watched the videos on Flipgrid and commented with questions and/or comments.
Students researched major cities in the United States using Britannica School, an online database and Google Earth to gather information. Students created a brochure using the information they found on Canva, a graphic design platform.
Prodigy is a game-based online math platform that I use to differentiate practice for my students during Math workshop. I also use Prodigy to collect ongoing data on my students and inform future instruction.
Students use Class Dojo to record a video of themselves practice their fluency with a poem during independent reading time. The videos get submitted to me, and then I am able to leave feedback for them on the video. This allows me to collect data, but also give feedback to my students on days when I do not see their Guided Reading group.
