HONKY TONKIN':
Backstage drama. Onstage triumph. Real life in the Nashville music scene.
The most amazing musicians you can listen to are the ones you’ve never heard of…and the drama of their daily lives are the best stories you’ve never seen. Renowned for honky tonks and live country music, downtown Nashville’s Lower Broadway is the place where music is a lifestyle, and fame is less important than putting on a good show. With over 40 stages where artists perform every single day from morning to night, Lower Broadway attracts nearly 300,000 people every week to tap toes, dance, and cheer for these musicians and singers. TV audiences will be able to follow the sufferings and cheer for the successes of performers who play for love of their art. We’ll take them behind the curtain to show the quiet secrets and untold stories driving the heartfelt performances that make for the hottest venues for live music in a city celebrated worldwide for its music. Nashville’s Lower Broadway is a sea of endless Honky Tonks with music stages that draw musicians, tourists, music fans, and partiers. From 10:00 every morning until they close at 2:30 a.m., Lower Broadway hosts a whopping 40 plus stages all going at the same time, with four bands per stage per day to keep the music and party rolling. And unlike the voting on American Idol and The Voice, patrons on Lower Broadway cast votes with their feet—if a band isn’t grabbing them, they simply take ten steps in any direction to find the musical gold they want.
