Greetings.
In today’s guide, I’ll be giving instructions on how to perform regular checkups on young children (and infants). I expect that you follow this when you take young patients in, as I’m trying to make this as realistic as possible! This will be rather a shorter guide, but more will be coming soon<3
AGE: DETAILS:
1 week
Babies are often checked by a pediatrician within the first week of going home from the hospital. At their first visit, the pediatricians will:
-Weigh your baby and will most likely measure its length, and can possibly measure your baby's head circumference (it depends).
- Check for signs of Jaundice.
- Do a general health exam.
-Ask how the family is adjusting to the new baby.
- Complete any screening tests that weren’t previously done.
2, 4, 6, 9 , 12, and 18 months, and 2-5 years.
When you take your child to a well-child visit, The pediatrician will:
-Ask about the child’s eating habits, and sleep habits.
- Ask about the child’s developmental milestones (language milestones, and social, and emotional issues.)
-Do a physical examination.
-Check weight, height, and possibly head circumference (not usually common).
-Give any necessary vaccinations.
Typically once the child reaches the age of five, they only come every two years until they reach eighteen.
*I’d also like you guys to be active, as I’ve noticed a lot of you aren’t!*
