The 2017 Postseason Picture (August 16th, 2017):As we wrap up our first season, here is an essential article to keep you updated as we approach the most intense part of the season.Playoffs:Adam clinched the 1st seed, and will have home field advantage against who ever he faces. He will face off either Jace, or Chris, the two wildcard teams. He finished the season 12-3, and holds a 5-1 record against teams on his side of the bracket. Definitely the favorite to make it to the SWL World Series, it would be no surprise to see our season's MVP holding up the trophy at the end of the year. Championship Odds: 40%Joey has clinched the second seed, finishing the season at a solid 8-7 record. He will have home field advantage against third seed, Addison, and the winner of that series will make It to the SWL World Series. This Year's CY Young will have a tough opponent if he makes the finals, regardless of his opponent. Against the other side of the bracket, Joey has a 3-6 record.Championship Odds: 30%Addison has Clinched the third seed, the last seed to be locked into the semi finals. She went on her hot streak early in the year, sporting a 6-2 record, but since clinching a spot in the playoffs she has gone 2-5, not the heat you would want to bring to the playoffs. She faces Joey, who won two of their three regular season matches. She also sports a 4-5 record against players on the opposite bracket. It's definitely an uphill battle for our youngest manager.Championship Odds: 15%Chris has clinched the 4th seed, which will give him home field advantage in the wildcard game. He and Jace have the longest, and arguably the hardest road, potentially facing 2-3 MVP Candidates, Silver Slugger Nominees, and Cy Young contenders. He is 2-4 against both his side of the bracket, and the other side of the bracket. It's a tough road, but there is no doubt that it is possible for him to make a SWL World Series run.Championship Odds: 7%Jace has clinched the 5th seed, which will give him the first draft pick for the Wildcard game, and future series if he advances. He has beat Chris twice this season in the three matches they played. He has been strong, especially when his pitching is accurate. He sports a 2-4 record on his side of the bracket, and a 4-2 record on the other side of the bracket.Championship Odds: 8%
The Playoff Picture (As of June 10th, 2017)Addison: Ranked 1st (6-2)She could be the first manager to secure a spot in the playoffs, which is not what we expected coming into the season. She plays Amy in week nine, and a win there puts her one win away from securing a playoff spot. Predicted Playoff Seed: 1st
Adam: Ranked 2nd (6-3)After suffering his third loss of the season to Amy, he falls out of the tie for first place. If he can keep his bat hot, and pitch well, he should have no problem securing a playoff spot by around Week 12. Predicted Playoff Seed: 2nd
Joey: Ranked 3rd (4-4)He has had just a mediocre season, but as we near the final stretch he finds himself in a decent spot. Week 12 and 13 will be his defining games, when he battles Jace, then has a double header against Addison, and Chris. Predicted Playoff Seed: 4th
Chris: Ranked 4th (4-5)He has been stellar when on the mound, but his bat has been just as hot. The third leg of the season will also look to define his competitive side, as we see how he will handle his opposition. Predicted Playoff Seed: 3rd
Jace: Ranked 5th (4-5)He has sunk in the standings recently, going 1-3 so far in the second leg of the season. With almost no momentum to help him, he will have to protect himself from the bottom of the barrel. Predicted Playoff Seed: 5th/Tie
Amy: Ranked 6th (2-7)While she has only 2 wins under her belt, there is just enough to keep her in contention. With the right draft picks, she can be as strong as any team. Her pitching has also picked up the pace, just in time to help her squeeze into the last spot. Predicted Playoff Seed: 5th/Tie
Manager Power Rankings Midseason:1st: AddisonContinuing her magical run, Addison's pitching continues to win games. With two wins on Sunday to add to her win streak (a league record 6 wins). She stopped Adam's momentum as well, making her the most powerful manager as of right now. 2nd: AdamAfter losing just his second match of the year, he came back on Sunday with a win over Jace, keeping his momentum alive. He currently shares first place with Addison, and still has his eyes set on that first seed. 3rd: JoeyHe has never had a losing streak of more than game, yet he is 4-4. There is no one source to this, but he is keeping his momentum steady after a win against Jace. Hopefully he can keep on the winning side of things as we pass the midpoint of the year.4th: ChrisAfter losing four straight, he has bounced back with two wins, and has a 4-4 record. Hopefully he can continue his streak to get the third spot, which avoids the wildcard elimination game.5th: AmyThere is hope! She wins a Mother's day miracle, putting her losing streak behind her. If she can scrap together more, she may get the last playoff spot.6th: JaceAfter a very unfortunate Sunday, losing four games in one day, Jace's hopes are not dashed. He still has the fifth spot by two games, and can very easily climb up the ladder.
Hitters Power Rankings End of First Leg
As We Start The Middle Leg of The Season, Who Has The Hot Bat?
(1st): Adam: Still Floating around 0.800 in batting average, Adam is the only person who has gotten a hit in every game this season. He is always capable of putting balls out of the park as well, making him our hottest batter.
(2nd): Joey: Although his team hit a rough patch in the later part of the first leg, he has been a very consistent hitter, striking against even the toughest of pitching.
(3rd): Chris: Even though he has been all over the place from game to game, he seems to be getting his swing together. He continues to bring in runs, with a Grandslam his last game.
(4th): Sheryll: She has been very streaky, with plenty of multihit games, spread throughout the early season. Her last two games consisted of 6 hits and 3 RBI's.
(5th): Jace: The slugger has missed a few games, but expect him to get right back into the swing of things tomorrow, hoping to knock a few out of the park.
(6th): Amy: After her big homerun, she hasn't been too stellar, She still is getting consistent hits, but the power has been a little off. It is not a problem, but it will be exciting to see her break out again.
(7th): Addison: She has been on a dry spell, but her spell was broken last game, where she recorded 2 hits and an RBI. Hopefully, she will get more comfortable in the box, as we continue the season.
April 20th, 2017:
After the first two weeks, we had managers who looked like they had their acts together, not only winning their games, but shutting down and overpowering other managers. Jace and Chris, who both started 2-0, looked like huge threats to the other managers (Jace's powerful offense, and Chris's locked in pitching). Adam and Joey both had a win under their belt, even if it was a close game, yet they both were shaping up and getting into a rhythm. After the two week mark it was interesting enough, but the standings and results were not far off of what we were expecting...
Jace: His 2-0 start was right on point, considering he has one of the best arms in the league.Chris: A slightly surprising week 1 win over the heavy favorite was a good showing of his ability that lead to his 2-0 start.Adam: Week 1 showed us that anything is possible, where his power pitching was still unable to hold down the fort, landing him at 1-1 in the season.Joey: Aside from a week 2 lost, his well rounded offense proved to stand a good chance in future challenges.Addison: Our youngest manager was off to a rough start, where her pitching took a fair beating, from two heavy favorites in the first to weeks.Amy: Her offense certainly wasn't lacking these first two weeks, but her pitching needs a little work if she wants to stay within reach of others.
That was the first two weeks, but as we finish up the first set of games (through week 5) we see a different picture start to arise. It has been interesting to watch which managers were able to adjust to the competition, and see which were able to pose a threat to others. Remember Chris's 2-0 record? he is now 2-3, losing three games in a row by no more than 2 points each. What about Addison? She has turned her season right side up, winning three straight games, allowing a total of seven runs in three games (6, 0, 1). And Joey, who is still about even, record wise, has not scored a run, as a manager since week 3 (Losing each game, 1-0). So after a few more weeks, we have received quite a shake up...
Jace: Even though he has struggled recently pitching wise, with a higher than average walk rate, he still lands himself at 3-1 going into week 5.Chris: Even though he ranks high in every pitching category, he has not been able to rally his offense, losing three straight close games.Adam: After losing week 1, he has completely bounced back, by winning four straight games, and allowing no more than 2 runs in any game so far.Joey: He has gone through a rollercoaster of a season so far, where pitching has improved, but lately his teams offense has been dead, costing him.Addison: Her pitching has drastically improved, in terms of runs allowed, giving her offense a chance of squeaking out a win or two.Amy: She is still winless, and her pitching is in need of help and her relievers, have not. A strong pitching performance is needed for a turn around.
