Please be aware that the age ranges listed in the descriptions below are rough estimates. Every child learns at their own pace, and comes with different experiences in the water. When in doubt, focus on the skills your child has and don't worry about the age guidelines. I will work with them where they are.
Parent & Me Age/ Pre-level 1 6 mo. - 3 years. Learn basic elements of swimming through songs, games and interactive play with parents. Parent/ adult participation required.
Level 1 Age range 4-5 years old. This course is ideal for students who are nervous, or fearful around the water, but also for those who cannot yet float. Students will build floating and movement skills through songs and interactive games, while also gaining comfort with getting their faces wet and blowing bubbles.
Level 2 Age range 4-6 years old. This class is for students who are able to float in the water and show some comfort with getting their faces wet. Students will gain more comfort in the water while developing beginning strokes such as freestyle, back-floating, and basic flutter kick.
Level 3 Age range 4-7 years old. Students should be comfortable with fully submerging their heads, and should already have some basic mobility in the water. In addition, they should be able to front float. This course will focus on developing and strengthening basic swimming strokes, such as freestyle and backstroke.
Level 4 Age range 5-8 years old. This class is for students who are able to float in the water and show comfort with getting their faces wet and fully submerging their heads under water. Students will build on skills from the level 3 class (such as freestyle and backstroke), while learning the basics of more complex strokes such as the breast stroke and elementary backstroke. Students will also be introduced to deep water and begin exploring strokes in depths where they cannot touch the bottom of the pool.
Level 5 Age range 6-8 years old. This class is for students who are able to float comfortably in the water and can get their faces wet. Students should also know the fundamentals of the first four basic strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and elementary backstroke) while gaining more comfort and confidence in deep water.
Level 6 Age range 7-10 years old. Students should be strong, confident swimmers. This class is designed to help refine basic strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and elementary backstroke) while developing better endurance swimming. Students may also learn butterfly, and some basic dives, as well as survival floats, treading water, and efficient side-breathing techniques to help increase fluid strokes in the water.
