Butterfly is often a challenging stroke to learn and kids will either love it or hate it. You start off butterfly with a forward dive and streamline, you may complete as many butterfly kicks underwater as wanted. You may remain underwater up to 15-meters, you must break the surface of the water by the 15-meter mark, or else you will be disqualified.
To swim butterfly you will use dolphin kicks and simultaneous ice cream scoop arms. For every set of arms you do you will complete two kicks, one little kick, and one big kick. You will bring your arms out of the water on your big kick and will breathe then. Your rhythm will look like: little kick, big kick with arms coming out of the water and breathing, repeat. Your arms must pull back under the water and recover above the water at the same time or else you will be disqualified. Your legs and feet must be held together and move up and down simultaneously. Any scissors, breaststroke, or fluttering action will lead to disqualification.
You must complete a two-hand touch open turn in butterfly. If both hands do not touch the wall at the same time you will be disqualified.
To finish you must touch with both hands at the same time or else you will be disqualified.
