The National Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a non-profit educational and service organization founded in 1950. It has more than 33,000 members and 250 students’ sections to empower women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career for women through an exciting array of training and development programs, networking opportunities, scholarships, and outreach and advocacy activities. The national SWE motto is Aspire. Advance. Achieve.
SWE UL Lafayette was officially chartered 10 years ago to provide educational resources and promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among women in the Lafayette Area. The SWE student chapter at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is section C059. Through SWE UL Lafayette, you will have access to: participate in free mock interview and resume sessions, earn financial assistance to travel to conferences in different cities, gain professional development through events and leadership opportunities, enhance your communication skills, and, if you join SWE National, have access to exclusive scholarships, workshops, and databases where your resume will be available to industries from around the world.
