11. InfusedKatharina Mitter2025Buckets, sand, water
Water enters the Limonistollen from above, seeps through the rock andwalls, dissolves embedded traces and carries them onward. The work consists of several containers, suspended just above the groundand filled with sand taken from within the tunnel. When water is poured inat regular intervals, the mixture begins to drip.At the center of the installation lies the intermingling of location, material, and memory. The substances of the tunnel—soil, water and sand—areactivated and set in motion. The work does not aim to reconstruct orvisually represent historical events, but to quietly engage with what hasremained hidden, repressed, or unnamed.
A portion of the seeping water is collected and will be handed over to theMayor of Linz. This symbolic gesture serves as a contribution to theculture of remembrance and points to the responsibility of publicinstitutions to confront the concealed layers of their own history.
“Infused” is a reductive, site-specific work that does not depict memory, but renders it tangible as a process.
