With SWEAT, the students of the Department of Plastic Conceptions / Ceramics, University of Arts Linz are presenting an interdisciplinary exhibition project at Limonistollen in Linz.
From June 26 to 28, 2025, the former air raid shelter, which was built during the Nazi era using forced labor by concentration camp prisoners, will be transformed into a resonating space for contemporary art.
Since January 2025, the students have regularly visited the Limonistollen and researched its history. This intensive examination - an initial approach and appropriation of the site - formed the basis of the project. Over the course of the summer semester, artistic works were created that address the architectural and climatic features of the gallery and at the same time critically reflect on its historical and social dimensions.
The SWEAT exhibition is part of the tour of the University of Art and Design Linz and can be viewed as part of a guided tour or by individually exploring a designated area of the tunnel system.
At the same time, the class's annual Rundgang exhibition, which is related to the project at Limonistollen, will also open in the rooms of the University of Arts at Domgasse 1.
