SOFTBALL RULES (USSSA COMPLIANT)

TIME LIMITS

• 8U: 1 hour 15 minutes

• 10U: 1 hour 30 minutes

• 14U–18U: 1 hour 45 minutes

⚠️ No new inning with less than 5 minutes remaining.

 RUN RULE (GAME END)

• All Ages:

  • 12 runs after 3 innings

  • 10 runs after 4 innings

  • 8 runs after 5 innings

• Coach Pitch (8U): 6-run limit per inning

• 10U: 6 runs per inning

• 14U & Up: 8-run per inning limit applies, but play continues until:

  • All runners stop attempting to advance

  • Pitcher has the ball in the circle

  • OR a third out occurs

📝 This is a local modification due to field size and scoring fairness.

EQUIPMENT & SAFETY

• All teams must bat the entire roster.

• Pitchers must wear a face mask.

• Catchers warming up must wear a helmet.

• All batting helmets must include a face mask.

 8U SOFTBALL SPECIFICS (COACH PITCH)

• No official umpires. Coaches from both teams will officiate but may not call balls/strikes for their own pitcher.

• One Base on Overthrow Rule: Runners may advance only one base per overthrow.

• Defensive Umpiring: Calls should be made fairly by both sides. Coaches can appeal to the opposing coach for resolution.

• Coaches Pitch: Coach will pitch 5 pitches. If the batter keeps fouling the ball, they hit until fair or 3 three strikes.

10U SOFTBALL SPECIFICS

• Stealing. Stealing is allowed once the ball crosses the plate.

• No stealing home on a passed ball (e.g. pitch is thrown and the catcher misses the catch, the player on third may not "steal" home.)

• No dropped third strike rule. Batter is out on strike three, caught or not.

• One base on overthrows only.
