Did you know...

        • Churchill was built in 1968.

        • Our mascot is Brutus the Bulldog.

        • Our school colours are red, white and blue.

        • SWC was the first public school in Canada to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

        • Churchill students earn nearly $1,000,000 each year from the Rutherford scholarship fund!

        • There is a Peer Tutoring program offered here for students who could use the extra help!

        • New program that just started a couple of years ago – Math Competencies. This new course is designed for students who need to improve on their math skills before taking Math 10 Common.

        • A great way to de-stress and earn credits at the same time is to try our Yoga class!

        • Every year SWC stages a major Drama Production.

        • Did you know you can study Chinese, French, Spanish and Latin at Churchill and you can study as many languages as you want!

        • Study International Languages, and you can take part in an exchange to Spain/Mexico or Quebec.

        • We have a club for everyone – approximately 45 different clubs for you to join.

        • Volunteer Churchill is the biggest and most active student volunteer group in the city, with over 500 volunteering members every year.

        • With 150 students trying out, Debate Club usually has 20 teams of two that compete up to the national level throughout the year. We host the largest debate competition for high school students to qualify for regionals in the province.

        • SWC Robotics: If you enjoy working building robots, coding, and meeting like-minded individuals, this club is for you! We compete in several local tournaments and if you build a great robot, you will represent SWC at the provincials!

        • Model UN There are 90 students join the Model UN team every year. Churchill hosts the largest high school student organized Model UN conference in Alberta. We have won the Best Small Delegation 7 of the last 8 years at SSUNS hosted by McGill University. The Model UN team has travelled to conferences in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Chicago and New York City. A first for a Canadian School; we won Award of Distinction (1st place) in New York.

        • Special events such as Churchill’s got talent, Snowball dance, pajama day, annual food drive, spirit day, etc. happen throughout the school year

        • Every year the SWC Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Choir and Blue Jazz Band perform two amazing concerts at the U of C Rosza Center.

        • History of excellence in SWC Athletics include: 171 City Championships and 36 Provincial Championships (20 are from Wrestling)

        • Nearly 500 different students compete for SWC in Athletics every year.

        • Cross Country, Track & Field, and Wrestling keep all students who try out! (no cuts are made)

        • We have a team for every sport offered by the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association.

        • SWC Alumni students have gone on to compete in Olympic Games, the CFL, LPGA, NCAA, NHL, NLL, Paralympics and CIS
