The Swansea School Advisory Council (SAC) is proud to support a wide range of initiatives that enrich student learning, strengthen our school community, and enhance the overall school environment. Through collaboration with staff, students, and volunteers, SAC plays an active role in helping bring important projects and programs to life.
Swansea SAC engagement and enrichment initiatives are funded by our school community, including parent and caregiver fundraising, community partnerships, and event sponsorships.
Here are some ways you can help to support our students.
Tired of checking the lost and found? Purchase labels through Mabel's Labels fundraising by selecting "Swansea P.S (Toronto)" to donate a portion of the proceeds back to Swansea SAC.
Looking to make your winter holiday decorating a bit easier this year? Consider purchasing your trees and wreaths this year using our dedicated fundraising link with Treasy Trees to send 15% of the purchase price to Swansea SAC - we are excited to put these funds towards the Natural Playground initiative and other outdoor education and improvement.
Want a break from packing a lunch every other Tuesday? Sign up for a Pizza Days package and support SAC's largest annual fundraiser. Find all the information you need in the weekly Shark Bytes email.

Thinking about biking, trail riding, swimming, or soccer camps or lessons? Use our code to save $25 off any Pedalheads program in Ontario. For every code redeemed, Pedalheads will also donate $25 back to the school.
Pedalheads partner code will return in early 2027.

Here is a sample of some of our current and recent initiatives benefiting students and the school community.
Library Refresh
SAC is working in partnership with Swansea JSPS’s librarian, Ms. Legacy, to reimagine the school library as a more flexible and user-friendly learning space. This initiative includes upgrading outdated technology to better support communal teaching, introducing a computer-lab style area for group learning, and adding new seating, tables, headphones, and bookcases. SAC fundraising has helped to make this refreshed, accessible learning environment a reality.
Welcome to Kindergarten
SAC supports incoming families by sponsoring Welcome to Kindergarten bags, filled with helpful items for early learners. This annual initiative distributes these kits at the Welcome to Kindergarten event for incoming kindie students, helping to make their introduction and integration into the school a warm and welcoming time.
Grade 8 Graduation Fundraising Initiatives
SAC is the central support pillar for the Grade 8 Graduation Committee as it leads our Grade 8 student in fundraising efforts to fund the graduation ceremony, annual graduation trip, and celebratory events like a dance. Find more information about Grade 8 graduation initiatives on their subcommittee page, and keep an eye out in the weekly Shark Bytes as new opportunities to support our grade 8s launch. You can also regularly find them hosting a bake sale table at our other events - pick up a sweet treat to support our grads!
Natural Play Areas at Swansea
SAC is supporting the Swansea Natural Playground Committee in a multi-phase project to enhance outdoor learning spaces. This initiative will transform the schoolyard with natural elements that encourage exploration, creativity, and connection to nature. SAC has committed funding to support this project, which is also currently seeking volunteers—particularly grant writers—and a landscape architect willing to contribute their expertise.
Digital Wellness at Swansea
SAC supports the Digital Wellness Committee in promoting mindful and intentional technology use within the school community. This includes raising awareness about the role of technology in learning, digital safety, and the impact of social media on young minds. The Digital Wellness Committee hosts student and community engagement events such as learning workshops and "in real life" activity drop-ins, and SAC funds help to offset the costs of permit rentals, speaker fees, and other event amenities like snacks.
Peacemakers Program
SAC is proud to support student leadership through the Peacemakers program for Grades 4-6 students at Swansea. These trained students help promote positive and safe interactions in the schoolyard, contributing to a respectful and inclusive play environment, and can be identified by their unique SAC-funded vests.
Eco-Club School Improvement
SAC is supporting student engagement and an enhanced learning environment by funding materials for the Eco-Club that enhance environmental learning and stewardship. This includes garbage grabbers for schoolyard clean-ups, seeds for pollinator plants, and cardboard construction tools for use in recycled material projects, art, and science activities.
