Swamp Witch: Policies

Below are policies we currently have in place at Swamp Witch Exotics, and these are subject to change as we grow. If you have any questions or concerns about any of our policies, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!

Sales &  Business  Policies

• We are a small scale private breeder and reserve the right to refuse service to anyone based on our own discretion. We do NOT discriminate based on Race/Ethnicity, gender/gender identity, sexuality/sexual orientation, religious/spiritual beliefs, and limit our concerns to what kind of care our animals will receive and a duty to uphold our own ethics(i.e. not working with unethical breeders or clients who use unethical practices)

• We maintain a "Blacklist" (currently this is a private list) and we do add people/breeders that violate our policies, are found to be unethical, and other reasons to the list in order to protect our animals and yours. We also distribute this list amongst our sister breeders and partners.

• We do NOT offer live feeder rodents. Our rodents are humanely euthanized and enjoyed quality lives with proper food, housing, enrichment, and selective breeding to breed stable & balanced animals.

• When submitting an application for ether pet adoption or breeder applications, you agree to Swamp Witch Exotics policies, this will also be clearly stated on the application(s). 

Breeder Stock and Pet Adoption Policies *upon availability*

General

• We require a 50% deposit when animals are picked out in order to hold them. This deposit goes towards the final cost of your holdbacks. The deposit is non-refundable.

• Unlike feeders, breeders/pets will not leave our care before the age requirement of their respective species. For mice this means holdbacks will not leave us before the age of 8weeks, with some of our lines being even older than that before placement.

• We do not practice, support, or promote banding ANY animal species(banding being the improper and humane way of D.I.Y Neutering that unethical breeders/byb have been using and attempting to promote) and any rodentry or business that we find out does we will blacklist.

Breeder Stock

• We currently are not open to breeder adoptions, but plan on working for that in the future

• ALL breeders must disclose their status as a breeder when contacting us about available breeding stock

• Breeders/Adopters are required to provide for all of their animals needs, this includes- but is not limited to- proper housing, bedding, proper nutrition, medical care, enrichment,  socialization , etc. 

Pet  Adoptions

• We  have a strict  NO breeding policy for ALL pets adopted from  us

• If for any reason pregnancy occurs whether ,accidental or other, Swamp Witch Exotics reserves the right to immediately be contacted to assist in deciding next best steps.

• If for any reason adopters/breeders cannot continue to care for or home our rats, they must be returned to our rattery immediately. We understand how suddenly and devastatingly life can change and we will not judge- as long as our animals are returned and able to continue receiving the care they deserve.

• We do not adopt out single animals in species that require pairs pr communal housing. All babies must go in same-sex pairs, EXCEPT male mice which must be housed SEPERATELY.
