Money remaining from the first bond sale and dollars coming in from the second bond sale will be used to complete these construction projects. Higher costs of materials, shortage of qualified labor, and limited supply of qualified contractors is a potential concern for the work that remains to be completed.
ADA bathroom renovations
Renovations are planned for Carmichael, Pueblo del Sol, Town & Country, and Village Meadows elementary schools.
HVAC unit/systems replacement
Needed throughout the District, with the exception of JCMS and Carmichael Elementary, whose HVAC systems have already been replaced.
Exterior weatherproofing
Flooring
Districtwide flooring projects (carpeting and polished concrete) will continue into spring break and summer 2020. Four schools and 26 classrooms will have new flooring.
Paving
Major paving repairs will be done at Town & Country Elementary School, Joyce Clark Middle School, and Village Meadows Elementary School. The paving projects are estimated to total about $500,000.
New practice gym
The new practice gym was scheduled to be finished in May but ran about 60 days behind schedule and is now very close to completion. It’s located behind the Buena bleachers at Loveless Field and is an excellent addition to our school system. The new courts in the practice gym are a great addition to the Buena physical education department and will serve BHS well.
Theater project (prop-building area)
The theater project is near completion. It will be of great benefit for storage, construction, and set-building for students to use and work in.
The total practice gym and theater cost is $3,387,000.
Construction drawings for PDS school additions and renovations are in progress.
Multipurpose room
A total of $2,460,000 was budgeted for a new kitchen, cafeteria, multipurpose room with stage, and four classrooms. The project also would renovate the school's existing multipurpose room into a room for music and art at an estimated cost of $110,000.
A possible concern with this project is the need to run utilities such as electric, gas, sewer, and water to the project. These costs will be above the actual construction costs.
