Swedish Phytogeographical Society Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis in Plant Geography and Plant Ecology
Starting in 2022, the Swedish Phytogeographical Society offers a 30,000 SEK scholarship to the PhD student working at a Swedish university for the best thesis in the field of plant geography and plant ecology. The selected PhD thesis should be outstanding in quality and the student should have matured to a creative and independent scientist. The selection among applicants will be made by the board of the Society.
You application should include:
A cover page including the following information:
Name and contact information of the PhD student
Name of university and department
Name and contact information of the main PhD supervisor
Title of thesis
Date of thesis defense
A 1-page letter summarizing the main aspects of your thesis, highlighting the reasons why it is particularly noteworthy for understanding plant geography or plant ecology
A copy of the thesis including all chapters
Eligibility:
You must have earned your PhD from a Swedish university
You must be a member of the Swedish Phytogeographical Society (see instructions for membership here: https://sites.google.com/view/svsplantgeogr/home)
Your thesis must be generally related to plant ecology and plant geography
You should have defended your PhD during the previous calendar year (i.e., 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024 for the 2025 award)
Submission:
Send your application materials as attachments in an email to the SVS Secretary <svs@ebc.uu.se> by 31 January and use the words “Application for outstanding PhD thesis award” in the subject line.
Process:
