2022.06.20. Graduate student Kevin Blanco presented advances on his Master's thesis work at the Frontiers in Hydrology Meeting (FIHM, 2022). Saddly, COVID-19 took a toll on his visa approval process and he had to present virtually.

2022.04.28. Ph.D. Candidate Walter Antolínez shared his experiences in hydrogeologic modeling with students of the Hydrology course (Civil Engineering Master's Program at UIS).

2022.03.29. This is a great picture of the faculty members of the Civil Engineering School at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS).

2022.03.25. We had the opportunity to present the work developed by undergraduate student Brayan D. Laiton with title "Virtual platform to support the instruction of the Hydraulics laboratory of the school of Civil Engineering at UIS" in the 6th Meeting of Successful Experiences in Implementation of Information and Communication Technologies in Teaching Endeavors. We feel very proud of the work which was implemented in the Moodle platform and has been used since the 2021-1 semester at UIS. This is the link to the Youtube video (minutes 20:15 to 36:09).

2021.12.17. Graduate student Óscar Fabián Sánchez Ortiz attended the AGU Fall Meeting held in New Orleans (LA, USA) and presented a poster on his work titled "Groundwater Numerical Modelling and Forecast Uncertainty Analysis of a Drainage Gallery in an Urbanized Landslide Using a Transparent and Reproducible Approach"

2020.12.09. Sandra Villamizar presenting the work developed with coauthors Dr. Catalina Segura and Dr. Dana Warren at the 2020 AGU Virtual Fall Meeting

2020.01.15. Sandra Villamizar, Catalina Segura and Dana Warren working at the Oak Creek site near Corvallis, Oregon.

2019.12.10 Presenting work developed with professor Thomas C. Harmon and student Dany A. Hernández at the AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California.

2018.06. Presenting our work in the Tona watershed at the 1st. International Conference on Water Security (Toronto, CA). If you want to check on the list of speakers and presentations, take a look at the conference´s website. The title of the presentation was "Challenges in the evaluation of water yield in tropical developing countries using state of the art modeling tools"

2018.01.16. Saying farewell to our wonderful visiting student from Brazil, Rafael Velozo Oliveira.

2017.06. The SAFER project team met in Bogotá and nearby Laguna de Tota (Colombia) for wonderful work and exchange of ideas. It was a great opportunity to share about our Colombian ecosystems with this international group of researchers. Thanks to Gerardo Perillo (Project´s PI), Jaime Escobar (Colombian Host) and all the SAFER team (especially, Tom Harmon from UC Merced) for receiving us and allowing us to present our ongoing research projects. We had a great time, we made important connections, and had the opportunity to learn about the current challenges of the Tota Lake watershed. Thanks a lot to Lisa Borre from the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies for keeping up with the photo documentation of the event and for inviting us to make Secchi Disc measurements at the Tota Lake!

2017. Members of the SPEC research team saying farewell to professor Cesar Aceros who was ready to travel to Puerto Rico to continue working on his doctorate degree.

2017.10. A great opportunity to show professor Thomas C. Harmon the "Embalse de Bucaramanga" project. Big thanks to Acueducto Metropolitano de Bucaramanga for hosting us.

2017.05.11. Students are the life and soul of our daily work. This is an example of the spirit of the UPB students celebrating their oncoming graduation as Civil Engineers.

2016.10. We were invited to participate in the International Seminar "Tools for sustainable management of water resources" (Seminario Internacional Herramientas de Manejo Sostenible del Recurso Hídrico). The top photo shows Sergio and Sandra with host at Cenicaña, Nicolás Javier Gil (Program Director). The bottom photo shows Sandra Villamizar presenting her work (coauthors: Thomas C. Harmon, Henry Pai, and Sergio Pineda).

2016. Lab work for the Groundwater class and field trip to the Carrasco's leachate treatment plant with UPB master's students.

2016.12. Obtaining our certificate for a 120 hour training in Pedagogy for Undergraduate Education (Diplomado en Docencia Universitaria - UPB). This was a really happy moment because I learned many things and I forged wonderful friendships with this group of people. Thanks UPB for the opportunity!

2015. Members of the SAFER team during our meeting in Laguna de Rocha (Uruguay). Tom Harmon, Henry Pai and Sandra Villamizar from UC Merced, traveled to Uruguay to meet with the SAFER project team. Members from the Canada, USA, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile sites met to discuss, learn and plan on the next steps of the project.

2011.09. Participants of the Freshwater Advanced Aquatic Sensor Workshop held at the University of Michigan Biological Station. Please, see the summary of this event on the ASLO Bulletin 20(4):82

2009. This is how research at the Merced and San Joaquin Rivers looked like when I was in graduate school at UC Merced. NIMS RD was the name of the automated system that allowed us to collect high resolution data in these large rivers. Big thanks to my major professor Thomas C. Harmon for the opportunity to work in these systems. Special thanks to my lab members Henry Pai, Jason C. Fisher and Christopher Butler for all the hard work in the field and all the wonderful exchanges in the development of the science. Despite the hot weather and the large size of these Central Valley rivers, we collected spatially distributed velocity and water quality data. For more information on the NIMS RD system take a look at this link.

2009. Joining the GLEON group in Wisconsin. This was one of my first experiences in understanding how collaborative research works. Big thanks for the opportunity to participate in this meeting and happy to have meet excellent researchers.
