McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001

Homelessness is defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as anyone who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence:
  • Shared housing

  • Living in emergency/transitional housing

  • Living in hotels, motels, trailer parks/camping grounds

  • Living in parks, cars, public spaces, abandoned buildings

  • Abandoned/Runaways

  • Awaiting foster care

  • Migratory children
