Teacher Susan Ashby

Founder of the Suzuki Violin Association of Puerto Rico

The Suzuki Method came to Puerto Rico thanks to teacher Susan Ashby, who directed the Suzuki Violin Association of Puerto Rico, for more than 30 years. Professor Ashby studied the method with Dr. Suzuki in Matsumoto, Japan, and after leaving her position as violinist in the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, she has dedicated herself to teaching the method to both students and future teachers. For personal reasons, Professor Ashby had to retire as our teacher and director in December 2011. Teacher Susan currently resides in New York.
