Mission

The Suzuki Violin Association of Puerto Rico works to strengthen the quality of life of Puerto Rican students and families through educational workshops, community outreach concerts, and developing teaching materials through interdisciplinary musical education based on the Suzuki philosophy.


Objectives

• Offer a Festival – Music Education Workshop for well-being aimed at families with children, children and adolescents in which healthy practices are modeled to promote family well-being, including training courses in music education for teachers and university music students.

• Offer six concerts a year for Puerto Rican families and older adults that contribute to family and community well-being.

• Create music education pedagogical material that includes Puerto Rican repertoire adapted to Suzuki teaching.

• Offer educational talks with educational material for parents with the purpose of sharing strategies to prevent negative behaviors in children and adolescents.

• Provide Suzuki Musical Education to children from vulnerable communities in San Juan.

• Provide group classes for the community.

• Support the community in recovery from the disasters of Hurricane Maria, the Earthquakes and COVID-19.

• Create material to facilitate music education through digital means.
