I Love that I am a new doula in my 50s! I've done so much studying and learning about birth for many years and now that my youngest child left for college, I finally am able to fully dive into this important work of honoring and supporting moms as they grow new life, birth and transition into motherhood. I also love supporting dads throughout this important and very special time.
My husband and I have lived in Chattanooga for over 20 years and our 4 children are now young adults. I've birthed unmedicated twice and had 2 cesarean sections. Each birth was of course different and intense, and I wish I had a doula for each! I can talk about birth and listen to your birth stories for hours. Even if you hire another doula, listening to your birth stories and your transition to motherhood stories would be such a gift to me! Monday Mornings at 11:00am ET a small group of women including myself are available on the MomsMatterMondayMornings.org free Zoom call to listen to stories of motherhood. No Advice. No Judgement. Just Listening. You are invited to our cozy space to participate or just to see if this is something that could be supportive to you. If you'd like to receive a reminder email an hour before the call, just send me your email address.
Using Sign Language was a fun and deeply connecting way to learn about our babies. It was also a big part of our homeschool and helped our children learn to read. I've taught Sign Language for Babies and Signing to Read classes since 2004. Some videos are on my Little Hands Talking Facebook Page.
I've been a student of Non-Violent Communication since 2018 and my favorite teacher is Yvette Erasmus. She offers a free zoom call every Wednesday which I highly recommend.
Bodily autonomy is important to me and in 2011, I started the Chattanooga Talks about Circumcision Facebook Group because I remember how difficult it was to find anyone to talk to about this topic when I was pregnant. I am honored to talk with anyone about this important topic. Please reach out!
I am working on my Labor Doula Certification with Birth Arts International. I also love learning from Birthing from Withing and Birth Story Medicine. I've also studied with Resilient Birth on creating Birth Support Plans and I volunteer with the local non-profit River City Doula Services.
I'm not charging right now & even if you are hiring another doula, I'd really love to talk with you! 423-635-8286.
