PITCH:
1: The problem your project solves
Currently, due to the COVID-19 crises, a lot of people are experiencing financial stress. Many entrepreneurs see their income reduced to zero and due to the financial issues which a lot of businesses are experiencing, jobs are on the line. People who were already living in poverty are hit extra hard by the economic fallout of this crisis. Our solution tackles this problem of economic strain on society.
2: The solution you bring to the table
Our solution is a complementary monetary system with the following attributes:
Create a unique account for every user of the system.
Create money which is used to give everyone a basic income, which is deposited on the account.
Charge a demurrage fee (comparable to negative interest) on each account. The money collected this way is taken out of circulation. The demurrage counters inflation.
Give everyone a 'bucket' which 'holds money'. No demurrage is charged on the 'money in the bucket'. Demurrage is only charged on the money that does not fit in the bucket. This 'bucket' gives people 'peace of mind'.
3: What you have done during the weekend
Building on the existing Sustainable Money System, we discussed ideas for building a societal model*.
We created a road map to strengthen the movement behind this solution.
We developed a prototype.
4: The solution’s impact to the crisis
The solution alleviates financial stress and directly contributes to the following SDGs:
1- Poverty - basic income.
3- Well being.
4- Quality education.
8- Decent work.
10- Reduced inequality - systemic effect.
There is also a positive indirect impact on other SGDs through the behavioural nudges which are built into the monetary system.
5: The necessities in order to continue the project
Creating a SuMSy community/taskforce/cooperative to further develop and deploy SuMSy
Strategic partnerships with cities for pilot projects.
Support from all stakeholders, from cities up to the European level.
The time, resources and funding to build a full blown version of the system.
The political will to have it implemented and deployed universally.
6: The value of your solution(s) after the crisis
Social cohesion, human dignity, people-and-planet-driven economy, financial security for all, sustainability, a stable monetary base for our economy.
7: The URL to the prototype [Github, Website,...]
Prototype: https://github.com/tgoorden/manipona
A simulation of the current and the proposed monetary system: https://emu-simulation.herokuapp.com/
* Business model wouldn't be applicable to this project, since it's a new systems that aims to transform the entire society, so we apply societal model.

This puts the implementation of the SDGs under stress since they aim to "leave no one behind". ??? ref, at least to "ensure a basic income for everybody ??
2: The solution you bring to the table
We introduce a complementary monetary system with a built-in basic income and a mechanism which counters inflation.
By doing, so we can make sure no one is left behind in this pandemic by providing them with a basic income. This will alleviate economic strain and also be beneficial for the mental health of the population at large, encouraging at the same time a shift towards more cooperative and sustainable businesses. It also includes a redistribution system leading to a continuous supply of money for common good projects like fighting climate change, eradicating poverty and offering education for all (so helping to execute/accomplish? SDG's). Also complimentary currencies can be based on the principles of SuMSy.
3: What you have done during the weekend
Building on the existing Sustainable Money System, we discussed ideas for building a societal model*. We created a ?unique? value proposition and the started? of a road map (see point 5).
Built a proof of concept.
4: The solution’s impact to the crisis
The solution contributes to the following SDGs:
1- Poverty: by giving everyone a basic income.
2- Zero hunger: as long as food supplies are working, people will be able to buy food.
3- Well being: experiments with basic incomes have all increased people's sense of well being.
4- Quality education: when financial stress is alleviated, access to good education becomes easier/is facilitated.
10- Reduced inequality: the way the monetary system works systemically reduces inequality.
12-Responsible Consumption: by encouraging people to pay to business models that contribute to the common good.
17- Partnership for the Goals: The system also helps to empower people, giving them the opportunity to engage in an empowered society.
5: The necessities in order to continue the project
After the Hackathon creating a SuMSy community/taskforce/cooperative to develop further and implement SuMSy
Support from all stakeholders, from cities up to the European level.
The time and resources to build the software necessary for the system.
The political will to have it implemented universally.
Draft of a roadmap how to implement SuMSy from the point of view of a mayor of a city:
May 2020: I'm the mayor of a city with over 50.000 people in Europe, a budget, political will, and 25% of unemployment due to the coronavirus crisis. We want to implement Sumsy as the first testing city.
What do we do? Where do we start?
5.1: Infrastructure
With the local university, the city fab-lab (makers space) and an open source virtual community, we will further develop the proof of concept with a distributed ledger on which the monetary system will run. Existing and complimentary currencies will be able to run on it.
5.2: Constitution/Manifest/Principles/Values:
With experts in Sustainable Development Goals, triple balance, human rights and circular economy, we develop the constitution of the principles and values that would lead the system, writing down the criteria that would drive the future businesses and projects of the new economy, a kind of social contract.
5.3: Project Ambassadors:
The very first people, having part of their salaries in Sumsys, will explain the concept to producers & retailers (farmers, local services, stores, freelances) in order to have a critical mass of people that start to exchange products and services between themselves using Sumsy.
5.4: Bank Office
The SuMSy will run on apps. For those who do not have access to smartphones, there will be SuMSy people visiting elder and people not familiar with technology to understand the system and be part of it, getting training with the app, and having assigned a personal assistant. There will also be local (physcical) hubs staffed with SuMSy people. Existing banks will also hire and/or train SuMSy knowledgeable personel. A non-digital system with physical cards will also put in place to include people with no or limited access to technology.
5.5: Continuous improvement
Involving all stakeholders we'll evaluate the progress we make on a continuous basis, making sure we keep in mind the basic principles of SuMSy, namely fairness, inclusiveness, added value for the society etc.
5.6: Growth
The system would always have the target to bring more people in, since as bigger the community is, the better the system gets, being its best stage once the 100% of a community is totally using it.
Time schedule?
6: The value of your solution(s) after the crisis
Social cohesion, human dignity, people-and-planet-driven economy, financial security, sustainability.

OLD STUFF:
use these principles in every decision making stage: knowledge transfer, clarity, self-criticism, respect each other and follow the plan
stef would you please share your business plan to analize it?
(maybe tomorrow, as a reminder) (edited)
1day would be enough to analyze the business plan, i suggest also a SWOT analysis if we make it in time
economy reset: everybody and everything begins with the default values
transform: how to go from the economy before to the economy after
2 systems next to each other: one system allows for this type of money transfer, the other system allows for other types of money transfer. The two systems do not exclude each other. This is: some things that are possible within the one system, are also possible within the other system
what will be ready by Sunday afternoon?
what type of added value would you like to bring to this team during the hackathon?
what will you do after the hackathon?
For whom are we developing? Politicians only? What other people do we want to agree with us? What people should change their behaviour? What decision-makers should we get on board? What decisions do they need to make? What is keeping each target audience from moving towards SuMSy ? What convinces each target audience? Have they been convinced before? What was necessary to convince them?
People we want to reach:
Politicians
Policy makers
Central bankers
General population in order to create pressure from below
How will we reach each target audience? How will we convince them? Is each target audience equally important or can we focus on one or two?
I think the games and the workshop (with the card game) can be good leverage tools (Stef)
What kind of things can we deliver? Plans? Games? Simulations? Presentations? Instructions on how to transform from one economy to the next? Obstacles you may encounter and how to overcome them? Exercises? References to people who agree and/or are saying the same thing? References to historic situations that were similar? Movements that are alike?
VIDEO (30 seconds each part)
1: the problem:
Covid-19 and its socio-economical consequences.
2: the solution:
Introducing a supplementary monetary system.
Contributing to the SGDs, specially the number 1- Poverty, 4-Equality... (all of them)
Contributing to a network of empowered society that helps itself (bottom-up empowerment)
3: what you accomplished
Discuss ideas, building a societal model*, create a value proposition, a road map.
4: what you are planning to do next.
Prototype the idea, so a real life testing project, for example a city.
Create a digital game for simulations (to support the prototype).
Both of the above to gather data and feedback.
