Nor'easter of 1962
Upcoming 60th Anniversary
Ideas for the 60th Anniversary Event:
Not clear how you are wanting to commemorate this anniversary? Just for one day? For whole month? On Zoom, at libraries? in library display cases (probably too late to reserve) at Cinema Art Theater (probably too late) Judy Rolfe
1) If you haven't already, do searches of dramatic images from the
Maryland and Delaware archieves. Aubrey Bodine covered the ’62 storm for the Baltimore Sun. I know because he captured the below picture of my Dad. You could probably get some images sent to you online and then ask for permission from archives to print them out as 11x14 on matt board at Staples.
2)Have several scientists from UDel Lewes campus speak. (Hydrologist, Biologist etc)
3) Put ad in paper asking for speakers that witnessed and lived thru the storm. I would be happy to share my little story. I was in Ocean City, MD at the time.
4) Ask Chris Bason of CIB to speak or DE SeaGrant Rep, or Nature Conservancy or WWF?
5) Ask all Sussex County libraries make these books available on line and for check out.
Hidden Life of trees
The heartbeat of trees
A Sand County almanac
The Secret Wisdom of Nature
6) Partner with Browseabout for book sales for any of the above books.
7)Invite City and county council and state reps to attend and call them now so they can put it on their skedule
