Julie Simpson, Ph.D., is the Director of Research Integrity Services (RIS) at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and an Affiliate Assistant Professor of College Teaching and of Education. Her office administers UNH’s human subjects protections and the Institutional Review Board (IRB), humane care and use of animals and the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), and responsible conduct of research and scholarly activity (RCR) program and RCR Committee, as well as UNH’s financial conflict of interest in research and HIPAA programs. Julie is a member of UNH’s IRB, IACUC, RCR Committee and UNH’s Radiation Safety Committee, and is UNH’s Research Integrity Officer (RIO). She co-developed and co-teaches UNH’s GRAD 930: Ethics in Research and Scholarship, a cross-disciplinary graduate seminar that has been offered since 2005. Julie is the Fellow for the Online Ethics Center’s Scholars, Educators & Administrators Fostering Research Integrity (SEAFRI) Community of Practice.

Adeeba Raheem, Ph.D.

Emerging Mobility Trend and Digitization of Transportation Infrastructure: Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Dr. Raheem received her Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida (UF) in 2014. She holds multiple master’s degrees in Building Construction, Environmental Engineering, and Civil Engineering from UF. She is a tenured Associate Professor and Director of the Construction Safety Program at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP). Dr. Raheem is an invited member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Academic Innovation Committee at UTEP. She has served as a merit reviewer for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Technology Commercialization Fund, DOE-NE's Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research-Construction Group, and Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education. Dr. Raheem’s research proposals have been funded by various U.S. federal agencies and non-profit organizations such as the Department of Labor, Department of State, National Science Foundation, Federal Highway Administration, Department of Energy through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, 100,000 Strong in the Americas, and VentureWell. Her research interests include smart construction, construction safety and health, construction technologies, and asset management. Dr. Raheem has received several prestigious national, regional, and university awards, including the 2022 University of Texas System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award, 2022 Great Minds in STEM-HENAAC Award for Education Distinction, 2022 UTEP Academy of Distinguished Teachers’ Outstanding Teaching Award, 2021 American Society for Engineering Education-Outstanding Young Faculty Award, 2020 UTEP College of Engineering Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence, 2020 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers’ STAR Educator of the Year Award, 2016 ASCE Excellence in Civil Engineering Education (ExCEED) Fellowship, and multiple UTEP Awards for Outstanding Efforts in Securing Extramural Funding. Dr. Raheem is an Envision™ Sustainability Professional, a certified associate member of the Design-Build Institute of America, and OSHA certified Master Trainer.

Paolo Gardoni, Ph. D.

An Introduction to Risk and Resiliency Analysis : Thursday, March 30, 2023.

Paolo Gardoni is the Alfredo H. Ang Family Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Reliability Engineering and System Safety, and the founder and former Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure. His research interests include probabilistic mechanics; reliability, risk and life cycle analysis; decision-making under uncertainty; performance assessment of deteriorating systems; modeling of natural hazards and societal impact; ethical, social and legal dimensions of risk; optimal strategies for natural hazard mitigation and disaster recovery; and engineering ethics. Prof. Gardoni is the 2021 recipient of the Alfredo Ang Award on Risk Analysis and Management of Civil Infrastructure from the American Society of Civil Engineers for his contributions to risk, reliability, and resilience analysis, and his leadership in these fields

Currently Ph.D. candidate in Urbanism at the University of Bío-Bío in Concepción, Chile. Professor and director of the Institute of Urbanism and Territory at the University of Piura, Peru. Local coordinator of the "mgi global Smart Cities Initiative“ in Piura and researcher "Dynamics of innovation ecosystems Piura". She was a research manager at ECE Project management; a consultant in Urbanism and Housing, Hamburg, Germany; and a technical advisor at the German Cooperation (giz). Founder of #FuturoPiura, a platform that encourages citizen participation in urban planning in Piura.
