Syeda Lamiya Mahnaz

President

Email: smahn002@fiu.edu

Syeda Lamiya Mahnaz is pursuing PhD in Civil Engineering at Florida International University (FIU) with an emphasis on transportation engineering. Lamiya achieved her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering on September 2017 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). After graduation she worked as a Geotechnical Engineer in a project of "Seismic micro zonation and Risk sensitive land use planning of Dhaka city". She has been working with Dr. Chang since August 2021. Her research interest is on sustainability and resilience in transportation.

Abid Hossain

Vice President

Email: ahoss019@fiu.edu

Abid Hossain is a Graduate Research Assistant at FIU joined in Spring 2021. He completed his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2017. After graduation, he was an Executive Engineer for three years with Orion Group, a leading construction company in Bangladesh where he applied practical knowledge on construction techniques using for  design and management. His research interests are in Transportation Planning, Construction Management, Asset Management and Data Analysis. At present, he is working on the ABC-UTC research project “Life-Cycle Cost Analysis of Ultra High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) in Retrofitting Techniques for ABC Projects” under supervision of Dr. Carlos M. Chang.

Raoul Salas

Secretary

Email: rasalas@fiu.edu

Raoul Salas is pursuing a doctoral degree in civil engineering at Florida International University (FIU) with an emphasis on transportation. Raoul achieved his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering on May 2021. He has been working with Dr. Chang since January 2019. His research interest is on pavement management systems. Raoul has assisted Dr. Chang on projects for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) California.

Aditia Rojali

Technical Chair

Email: aroja164@fiu.edu

Aditia's main research interest is natural disaster hazard and risk assessment. In FIU, Aditia has been expanding his scope into pavement engineering including pavement structural modeling by means of linear elastic analysis, finite element modeling, and in the aspect of Life Cycle Analysis. His PhD research topic is sea-level rise implication on pavement infrastructure in Southeast Florida. Prior to joining FIU as PhD student, Aditia contributed to multiple national and international projects as a research engineer and project manager in Indonesia. Ranging from (re)insurance industry through utilization of hydrologic-hydraulic modeling for flood premium pricing to coastal inundation assessment associated with sea level rise, tsunami, and urban flooding, and coastal engineering design projects.

Rafael Gutierrez

Social Coordinator

Aida Yahyavi Rahimi

Academic Advisor

Email: arahi015@fiu.edu

Aida is a Ph.D. Candidate in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, with a focus on sustainable and resilient practices for urban stormwater management and green infrastructure. Her research aims to find innovative and practical solutions to improve the management of stormwater in urban areas considering the quantity and quality aspects, with the goal of creating more sustainable and resilient communities. Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, Aida worked as a hydrologist in several distinguished consulting engineering companies in Iran. In these roles, she gained valuable experience in the field of water resources management, working on a range of projects related to water infrastructure in the transportation sector, flood management, and hydrological modeling. She is also skilled in fieldwork and instrumentation, having led multiple field campaigns to collect hydrological data and implement monitoring systems.
