Hello! My name is Surya, and I am a Research Scientist (Researcher/Engineer II) and an Adjunct Faculty member at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York, USA.
For my research, I divide my time between the NanoImaging Lab at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science (CIS), where I work with Prof. Richard Hailstone, and the Integrated Photonics Group in the Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering, collaborating with Prof. Stefan Preble.
On the teaching side, I currently teach a special topics course, IMGS 589/689: Computational Imaging and New Optics, which integrates modern imaging and optical techniques while introducing key developments shaping optics in the 21st century.
I earned my Ph.D. in Imaging Science and my M.S. in Physics, both from RIT. Furthermore, I gained valuable industry experience as an Electron Optics Engineer during an eight-month internship at ASML Inc.
Before RIT, I worked as a project associate at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-Delhi), INDIA, for approximately two years in the Electrical engineering department with Dr. Brejesh Lall and in the Physics department with Dr. Kedar Khare.
I earned my bachelor's degree with distinction in computer engineering from VIIT, Pune, an autonomous institute affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University, INDIA (formerly the University of Pune). My final year project at VIIT was a collaboration with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai (TIFR), where I also completed an internship at the Foton Lab under the guidance of Dr. SS Prabhu.
Feel free to explore, and if something interests you or if you think we could collaborate, please reach out, I would love to hear from you. I have included my CV below for you.
