Shadecession Interview

@zyg: Alright, you've been in survivor for a number of years now, including being the room owner for a few now. What was it that brought you to the room?

#Shadecession: i followed another user from the challenges room to survivor, they had auth in both rooms at the time so surv stuck out

#Shadecession: folks in the room nowadays would know that user as diditdone lol

@zyg:  ah right, another recent return to our wonderful staff team. The last few months has seen the return of PQ, myself, pants, zyx etc. what was it that made you stick around so long this time after you returned?

#Shadecession: yeah it’s good to see people coming back. i had to think about this one a bit. i came back again around 2018/2019 i think, but what kept me was the site and themes. i like talking about new theme ideas and revisiting the official themes we have to make sure we have the best selection available

#Shadecession: most of that stuff we do off of ps which is why i don’t end up on there much these days

@zyg:  Yeah that's definitely a good point. One from Corn.Exe, what's your fave survivor theme or themes?

#Shadecession: that’s a good question, for a long time my favorite was dragon orbs. but, i think these days i lean towards hidden type

#Shadecession: i looked at the list to make sure i wasn’t missing anything; exclusions is really good too

@zyg:  Solid choices, hidden type is a very underrated theme imo

#Shadecession: for sure, first nbt winner was a good one

@zyg: It looks like NBT is coming back this year, what are your thoughts on it? Glad to see it returning?

#Shadecession: absolutely, NBT is great. i think it’s been long enough since we ran it last time that we’ll have no shortage of interesting ideas this time

@zyg: 100%. One from Yoshman8, as a room owner, what kind of things do you expect from regs to help keep the room running smoothly?

#Shadecession: from regs? best thing you can do is not get yourself muted or banned lol. there aren’t high expectations in surv, we’re all just out here rolling dice

@zyg: Yeah I agree, onto more PS based questions, what's the origin behind the name shadecession?

#Shadecession: keep in mind it’s a username i made when i was 12

#Shadecession: shade is the nickname at the start, and i needed something else because “shade” is never an available username anywhere

#Shadecession: so i tacked on the end of the word “succession” as motivation and a reminder to myself to always do my best to succeed

#Shadecession: problem is that succession doesn’t actually mean that, but the name stuck and i thought it sounded cool. i still think it does so i’ve kept it all this time

@zyg: I think it's an awesome name and has a great colour

@zyg: What other rooms do you or did you like to frequent on PS over the years?

#Shadecession: thank you sir, speaking of which i hated the pink at first, but it grew on me and it’s one of my favorite colors now. all because of the PS randomly generated name color lol

#Shadecession: i started out in tournaments back when you had to host tourneys over challonge and everyone wanted to play c&e tourneys

#Shadecession: then i went to challenges which is currently trick house, a hidden room that’s doing it’s best to bring back what the challenges room was all about

#Shadecession: from there i went to survivor, and i dabbled in a bit of battle dome and board games since then. i never really latched onto many other rooms though, just popped into some here and there

@zyg: Yeah I think it goes one of two ways on PS, you either settle on 2-3 rooms or 8-10+

@zyg: Care to tell us a little about the real life shade?

#Shadecession: agreed, that seems to be how it goes

#Shadecession: pretty much the same as what you see on PS personality-wise. most of what i do day-to-day is work, play some video games, hang out with people, etc. it’s a pretty good gig

@zyg: what video games are you currently playing?

#Shadecession: currently i’m playing through the professor layton games on ds, i’m on the third game now. they’re pretty fun, they make you think

@zyg: Yeah they bring back some good memories, what are your favourite games of all time?

#Shadecession: i think my favorites are platformers and tactical strategy games. some of my favorites are sonic mania and fire emblem three houses for sure

@zyg: ah awesome, what are your plans for the next few years then?

@zyg: Also from an anonymous room owner - "I hate you."

#Shadecession: next few years i think i’m just doing the regular life stuff. i’m kinda in that stretch where i’m just working and trying to take steps forward

@zyg: Yeah I feel you, I think that's the stage I'm kinda at haha... Speaking of PQ, would you rather fight one PQ sized duck or 100 duck sized PQs?

#Shadecession: ayy, we’ll both be fine lol

#Shadecession: the duck is probably stronger than pq so i’d take the 100 duck sized pqs

@zyg: You also get to kick him 100 times lol... Last question, if you could offer any piece of advice to our users, what would it be?

#Shadecession: lol true. my advice is: don’t take survivor too seriously. don’t be afraid to host and play games, we’re all here to chill and play some games that are designed to require little to no skill to play so have a good time and keep it laid back, we’ll all have more fun that way
