#Shadecession: aight lemme kick things off with a cringy opening
@pants: bet lol
#Shadecession: keeping this in btw lmao
#Shadecession: Welcome back everyone to the Survivor interview series! Today I'll be interviewing pants, how are you doing today pants?
@pants: I'm doing well, thanks for asking Shade :)
#Shadecession: Fantastic, glad to hear it. We've got some questions from plenty of Survivor users but I'll start with one from myself: You came back as staff here recently, what brought you back?
@pants: I got bored one day while I was sick and decided to check in with my old friends across the site, and was surprised to find Survivor livelier than ever. I've always enjoyed my time in this room, and I decided to see if sticking around would be fun. It really was, and I quickly got reintegrated back into the community so here I am :)
#Shadecession: Haha, that's awesome that a random decision to come say hi became a full return. Of course, we're glad you're back too
@pants: Glad to be back!
#Shadecession: Fantastic! Let's get into some of the questions submitted by the Survivor community. Let's get all of the PQ questions out of the way first, shall we?
#Shadecession: From DMPenguin, who is your favorite penguin besides penquin?
@pants: Sure DMPenguin, I'll give you this one, it's you
#Shadecession: I'm sure they'll love that answer. Next up from lfolfo, is it true that you help PenQuin keep his bald head shiny?
@pants: I had to recover his crown from Shell City so that he'd stop bitching about it...
#Shadecession: Sounds about right for him. I hope somebody got him a bucket to wear in the meantime.
#Shadecession: Now here's one from impressionfan2008 asking you to do your best Penquin impression
@pants: "aah oh no i'm bald"
#Shadecession: That's pretty impressive, I hope any users hoping to become a PQ impressionist are taking notes on that.
@pants: Thanks, I've been practicing
#Shadecession: Soon people are going to start asking if anyone has ever seen you and PQ in a room at the same time
#Shadecession: I'm noticing a few questions here involving the Pokémon Marill; is there any significant connection there that some of our users may not know about?
@pants: Lame Pokemon, not even spooky smh
#Shadecession: Feraligators seems to agree with you, saying Marills are the worst
#Shadecession:Annaoceancat doesn't seem to though, asking Why Marill? is it because its a ball of joy
@pants: I'm not sure, I don't really understand the appeal myself
#Shadecession: Marill catching strays in this interview
#Shadecession: I think it's time we start getting into the Survivor questions. We talked a bit about what brought you back recently, PenQuin asks a slightly different question: what keeps you in Survivor?
@pants: The community for sure. I've spent over a decade on this site and have yet to find a community more chill than this one. The laidback culture and everyone's willingness to just hang out is what has cemented Survivor as a top tier community to me.
#Shadecession: I couldn't agree more, I think that's a great way to sum up what Survivor is all about. That and all those dice games. Speaking of which, what is your favorite Survivor theme?
@pants: Lately, I've been loving Poles. It adds just enough strategy to get you invested, while still maintaining the core aspect of dice rolls. I've also always loved HGS with a boatload of mods.
#Shadecession: Poles is a good shout, I think it strikes a great balance between luck and strategy. HGS with mods is great too, do you have a favorite mod?
#Shadecession: Modification not moderator that is. However Death of Mimikyu did ask who your favorite staff member is besides yourself, so feel free to answer that too
@pants: Wear Down for sure, it can get desperate towards the end
@pants: As for my favorite staff member, I’ve gotta give it up to PQ, Paradise, and Swirlyder. The three of them are the core of the Survivor community and have really put a lot into making the room what it is today. Shoutouts to you, too, Shade, from one resident old fart to another; we’ve been friends for quite some time now. And all jokes about Marill aside, marillvibes is a good friend of mine and puts a lot of hard work into Survivor. It’s hard to pick a single favorite since this community is so awesome
#Shadecession: Wear Down is a banger for sure, shoutout to Henka for that one. That’s a solid group of staff right there, and we have truly been friends for a while, old farts indeed.
#Shadecession: a helpful rayquaza asks, what's your favorite memory in Survivor?
@pants: hmm I think there's a tie for two. One would be from back when Sir Vivor didn't have any hosting capabilities, and all .host would do is roomvoice someone until they either used .win or .done to demote themselves. As a new voice, I would frequently demote myself with .done just to mess with the staff at the time. I think that eventually became the reason that .pants causes Sir Vivor to say ".done with life"
@pants: The other memory that I will never forget is when I got Sir Vivor to say "Fuck you, Sir Vivor" over and over until an admin had to come and roomban him because nothing else would stop him.
#Shadecession: I never knew the origin of your command until now, those stories rock lol
#Shadecession: Juanfe05 asks What's the most crazy thing you ever had on survivor? I'm curious if any stories beat that Sir Vivor one
@pants: Those two are the ones that stand out the most to me, although I do remember someone did !roll 420 and got 69, which was pretty rad
#Shadecession: If I remember correctly, that someone was you
@pants: I don't remember doing it myself, I just remember celebrating such a monumental milestone in Survivor history
#Shadecession: A momentous occasion it truly was. So how did you get into Survivor originally? And, over the years, what has been your absolute favorite thing about the room?
@pants: I was originally redirected from Game Corner into Survivor by sanjay, and I refused to leave for fear of being redirected again. Jokes on him, though, I actually really enjoy it here
@pants: I don't think I can stress enough how awesome the people are in this community. It's such a chill atmosphere and everyone is here just to meme around and have a good time. The room lacks the serious competitive aspect that some other rooms have, and it really makes for a much more pleasant experience.
#Shadecession: That's hilarious that you got here via redirect, those were the best. Our community sure is great, give yourselves a self-high 5 as you're reading this interview for being cool
@pants: Seriously, y'all are awesome
#Shadecession: I'll hit you with one more burning question that several people asked, and then we'll get to some silly rapid fire questions to close things out here. The big question is: How did you land on the username pants?
@pants: My original edgy username that I came up with when I was 10 was phantomgenius. People started shortening that to phantom, then eventually phant. Eventually, a specific user started calling me pants, and the name stuck, everyone has been calling me that for over 10 years now. I've been using the name pants on most platforms ever since then, so shoutouts DSG for that I guess.
#Shadecession: And a shoutout to the username phantomgenius, the one that started it all
#Shadecession: Alright, ready for the fast money round?
@pants: Let's do it
#Shadecession: What's your favorite movie?
#Shadecession: (from did it done)
@pants: Man that's a tough question to start the lightning round with
@pants: for now, I'll say everything everywhere all at once, but that answer is very liable to change from day to day
#Shadecession: Solid pick. You land on a treasure island but only have three supplies, what are you taking? (You already have UK Fanta with you - cos its the best.) (from Opple)
@pants: A shovel, a motorboat, and enough gasoline to get me back to the US
#Shadecession: Smart choices. If you could kill off one Survivor theme right now, which one would get the axe? (from Fabulous Andrew Nick)
@pants: Probably dexterity. Not because its a bad theme and I don't enjoy it, but sometimes it takes a long time, and it's prone to host errors.
#Shadecession: That's a hot take, I'm excited to see the reaction on that one. Are you better than Rainshaft at fortnite? (from WooperFan3)
@pants: I've played 2 games of fortnite ever, and they were several years ago. I don't think its possible to be much worse than me if you actively play the game
#Shadecession: Rainshaft wins this battle. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? (from a helpful rayquaza)
@pants: !lastfm
pants is currently listening to:
Polaris - Creatures Of Habit - Instrumental
@pants: This wouldn't be a bad choice
#Shadecession: An instrumental is a smart choice I feel. What's your all time favorite Video Game? (from PenQuin)
@pants: I don't game a ton, but I would say Tears of the Kingdom is probably the best quality game I've ever played. I have the most nostalgia for PMD Explorer's of Sky, though, and it has held up on replay.
#Shadecession: I gotta get to TOTK soon, but I can confirm I played PMD Explorers of Sky for the first time 2 years ago and it was awesome. Good answers all around, and now for the grand finale from EasyOnTheHills
#Shadecession: Would you rather have unlimited bacon, but no more video games, or would you rather have games, unlimited games, but no more games
@pants: Gonna have to go with one of every Pokemon on this one, I don't think a billion lions really even stand a chance against some of them.
#Shadecession: Profound answer to a profound question. Apologies for any of the questions we didn't get to during this interview, if your question didn't get asked feel free to ask pants here on PS while you're hanging out in Survivor
#Shadecession: That said, thank you so much for your time and for the interview pants!
@pants: Thanks for being a great host, Shade! And thanks to you the reader for making Survivor a great community! Feel free to talk to me if you see me online :)
