You’ll be staying at the NC Forest Service’s Mountain Training Facility, a peaceful, scenic campus designed for conservation professionals. Lodging is single occupancy—so even though the facility is barracks-style, you will not share a room. Most rooms include:
A private sink
Simple, clean, and comfortable setup
We recommend you bring your own linens and pillow, but backup items will be available. We’ll take care in assigning rooms to ensure everyone feels as comfortable as possible. Shared privacy stalls for restrooms and showers are available, with separate facilities for men and women.

Checkin: Will be available Sunday afternoon, after 2:00 pm
All meals are provided—no need to plan or pack food. We’ll be sharing breakfast and dinner each day, giving you time to connect with others, relax, and refuel between fieldwork. Bagged lunches will be provided for going out into the field. And of course, plenty of snacks!
We will cover meals starting on Sunday (July 27th) evening, Dinner, and then through lunch on Friday. We will cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
As professionals in the conservation space, we are confident that you know exactly what to pack for this training, but we wanted to offer some suggestions or recommendaitons for a better training expereince:
Linens- Bedding, Pillow, Towel
Shower essentials and flip-flops
Fan for dormitory rooms
Closed-toe footwear (steel toe, fiberglass toe, composite toe, or outdoor boots)
Muck boots, if you have them
Water bottle
Sun and Heat Protection
Proper field clothes
Hats
Sunglasses
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Pens and/or pencils
Clipboards to help with field notes
County/ District/ State ID Badge
Ice coolers for small group teams in the field- small to medium cooler
