Hola! Thanks for your interest in this website. You may have noticed that research and teaching comprise much of my daily life. Yet, my passion and mind are not solely driven by those. I am nurtured by the company, friendship, and complicity offered by my wife (Prof. Tatiana Guarín-Corredor), family, and close friends. I also enjoy nature's beauty while riding my bike, hiking, or running. I think it connects my mind and body.
While pursuing my Ph.D. studies at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), I had a lot of fun (yeah, a lot of work and worries too) building a large-scale bridge model comprising several precast elements. The bridge was subjected to simulated earthquake motions using the shake tables at the Earthquake Engineering Laboratory at UNR. The videos below show a glimpse of the bridge construction and testing. I had the honor of being advised by Dr. Saiid Saiidi (Professor Emeritus, UNR) and Dr. Ahmad Itani (Off. Research and Sponsored Projects, UTEP).
