Hi Dr.Surbhi! I just wanted to take the time to thank you for all the support you have given me throughout this year. It was truly a journey from 2025 getting your contact to taking the first live class test (doing terrible 😅) to then joining your classes throughout summer and into the fall semester. You not only helped me understand chemistry better but also helped me manage my time better. I do wish that I had joined your classes throughout the year and not let the little things get in the way of my classes. But nonetheless, I most definitely wouldn’t have gotten through the year without your videos. I watched each and very single one, and it truly helped me understand how to study better. Today while taking the AP test, I felt so confident, and could only think about sending this message once I was done. Thank you so much for everything, you have truly made a huge impact in my life and will forever be grateful to you ❤️❤️❤️- Student (D.), Westmont High School
I hope you're doing well. I wanted to let you know I finished my AP Chem exam pretty well today despite the time limit. Thank you for your support. - Student (P.S.), Mountain House High School
Ms. Surbhi's classes have helped me significantly throughout Honors Chemistry as a sophomore, and I could not recommend these classes more. Chemistry is a very challenging subject, but with Ms.Surbhi's classes combined with the lessons taught in school I felt more prepared. Her lectures in class are clear and broken down in a way that is easy to comprehend and retain. Being able to learn the topics months before they were taught in school significantly helped me maintain a high level of understanding and never lag behind in school. Her Google Classroom system is well organized and easy to follow giving us all the materials, practice tests, notes, and key concepts needed for us to succeed. Remember that chemistry is a cumulative subject so try to complete all homework to the best of your ability. If you’re unable to fully complete the homework each week, focus on staying up to date on the topics being taught in school using the material Ms. Surbhi provides for you in the Google Classroom.
Don’t be scared to ask questions because Ms. Surbhi is always there to help you out. Speak up when you’re confused, stay curious, and don’t forget to actually enjoy such an interesting subject as chemistry. - Student (Y.), Irvington High School
Ms. Surbhi is one of the best tutors I’ve had. She makes you feel supported without ever making you feel behind. After every session, I actually understood the material instead of just memorizing it. She explains at the right pace, checks in often, and adjusts if something isn’t clear. What stands out most is how much she cares about your progress. Hi, this class has helped me so much with chemistry and joining this class has been one of the best decisions I've made. Surbhi has all the resources you could possibly need, where it's her google form tests, or cycle slide decks curated for each teacher. She also explains everything extremely well in her class, something which helped me a lot, as my school wasn't too good at it. She also follows every new concept with practice problems which helps too. Because I took Surbhi's class I got an A in my chemistry this semester easily and was able to skip the final. - Student (K.), Mission San Jose High School
Dr. Surbhi's Honors Chemistry Class was invaluable for me. We started in June, and I felt really prepared for chemistry the second that school started. First, I loved that we learned concepts ahead of time, but we also learned them thoroughly and in-depth. Dr. Surbhi truly helps us learn on a deeper level, and makes sure to review important concepts so that they are always in our heads. Also, I felt like Dr. Surbhi cared for all of us individually, as she would take time to ask us how we were doing at school, if we had any questions, and made sure we were all understanding the concepts in class. I'm so grateful for Dr. Surbhi's class, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to learn from her.
For upcoming students: Take advantage of all the material so that you are fully prepared with everything before tests. Make sure to do everything early enough so you can ask Dr. Surbhi any questions you have. - Student (E.), Mission San Jose High School
Ms. Surbhi's class really helped me stay ahead of the game. She was also really helpful when it came to outlining exactly what I needed to know for the AP exam. Those key concepts helped me gain clarity on what was really important, saving time and helping with my school exams as well. Furthermore, Ms. Surbhi posted a lot of useful notes, MCQs, and FRQs. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to stay ahead in school and prepare well for the AP exam. - Student (P.), Mountain House High School
Chemistry isn't an easy subject; memorizing formulas and tackling tough concepts can often be confusing. This is why Mrs Surbhi's tutoring session helps a lot with the material to ace exams. The class starts early in the summer, covering multiple topics before school starts, so by the time it does, the concepts are already easier and more familiar to me. But even when I forgot something, I could always look back at the Honors Key Concepts packet she had provided in the Google Classroom. Mrs Surbhi always has extra practice and packets that really help for extra practice, especially before tests. Whenever I struggled with a concept or needed help, I could always reach out to her, and she would immediately help with whatever issue I had. I really recommend Mrs Surbhi for tutoring because she breaks the topics down clearly, making it easy to understand, has multiple resources for perfecting the concept, and is always ready to assist with any issue. Some advice I would give to juniors is to be consistent when it comes to Chemistry, practice every day, and don't get discouraged when you don't get a concept instantly. Just keep exercising your memory and practicing problems so that eventually the topic will be much easier, and you will be able to ace all your exams. - Student (P.), Irvington High School
Ms Surbhi's classes have been extremely helpful towards my success in the Honors Chemistry course as a sophomore. Going into the class, I knew that it would require a lot of grunt work and outside practice and revision.
Ms Surbhi's numerous resources, weekly classes, and careful, thorough explanation of each concept have been so helpful for me. She makes sure to individually address students given their school/teacher, providing us with practice worksheets, study guides, and other important resources. There are weekly assignments with new concepts as well as prior practice questions. The resources in Google Classroom are organized and helpful, with sections for each important chapter as well as a complete package with all the important information and topics covered, which I think is extremely helpful when studying. I think starting our classes in the summer itself and staying ahead of school concepts has also been crucial to our understanding and ability to revise and retain past concepts. We are able to learn new things not just for the sake of school and tests, but also to increase our knowledge and scope of chemistry. Surbhi aunty also makes sure to continue revising prior concepts, especially in preparation for school tests, which is very useful for us to be able to refresh our knowledge and do extra practice.
Some success tips:
- keep revising older concepts even if they aren't always reviewed; very helpful especially for finals prep because staying on top of everything is much easier than having to start fresh studying something you have forgotten
- do as many of the practice problems and worksheets provided as possible; these are very useful because they often are very similar to the kinds of tricky problems teachers may give on tests, giving you an advantage of having practiced those kinds of problems beforehand
- watch the videos for any missed classes; don't take a missed class lightly and skip the video because we usually cover important new topics as well as revision that could be important for upcoming tests and such
Overall, Ms Surbhi's Honors Chemistry classes have been super helpful and useful for my success in chem this year. I highly recommend these classes if you are taking Honors Chemistry and want some extra help and guidance throughout the year. Thank you Ms Surbhi!!!- Student (D.), Mission San Jose High School
Taking this AP Chemistry class has made a huge difference in both my understanding of the material and my overall grade. Before, I struggled with some of the more challenging concepts, but with all the resources provided, practice multiple-choice questions, free-response questions, and detailed walkthrough classes, the lessons became much more straightforward and easier to follow. The step-by-step explanations and guided problem-solving helped me see patterns in the questions and understand the reasoning behind each answer. I found myself gaining confidence with every practice session, and as a result, my grade improved from a B+ to an A-. Beyond the grade, I now feel much more prepared for exams and capable of tackling difficult problems independently. This class truly made AP Chemistry manageable and even enjoyable. - Student (D.), American High School
After attending Surbhi Jain's classes (live or through recording), I have noticed a significant increase in my understanding of chemistry. Chemistry Honors is a difficult course, but I often found myself doing better in school since I already learned the topics. I highly recommend these classes, because I wouldn't have done so well in school without them. - Student (T.B.), American High School
By taking Dr. Surbhi's Honors Chemistry Class, I felt prepared and confident in honors chemistry throughout the year. Because we were learning school topics ahead of time and concepts were introduced early, I felt prepared when school tests and labs came around, even if they were difficult. The structure of the course is also perfect: we learned topics step by step, had the right pacing, and revised often. This format made it easy to stay consistent, even when school became busy.
Advice for juniors: treat the class like a steady weekly commitment and set a regular study time each week. If you stay on schedule and do the practice problems, you’ll build a strong understanding of the topics, feel less pressure before tests, and get better results. - Student (H.), Mission San Jose High School
Coming into my sophomore year, I had very little prior knowledge on chemistry, which made both my parents and I quite nervous about the rigor of taking an Honors-level course. However, starting Ms. Surbhi’s classes in June was the best decision I could have made. Because we began during the summer, I was consistently ahead of my school curriculum. This kind of 'buffer' was essential for me because even though my school environment was challenging and my teacher wasn't exactly cooperative, I felt confident and prepared because I had already mastered the material with Ms. Surbhi. Her classes and class recordings became one of my most reliable resources, allowing me to finish the semester with a 96%.
To my juniors: The key to my success was learning to stay disciplined during the summer months. It can definitely be tempting to relax, but the momentum you build in the summer is what makes the rest of the school year so much easier and manageable. Trust Ms. Surbhi’s process—her rigor is exactly what you need to excel when things get difficult at school! Thank you again, Ms. Surbhi, for pushing me to do my best.- Student (V.), Emerald High School
Mrs. Surbhi's course was amazing. The material available to students, from the key concept package to all the practice questions, practice tests, and written review material helped me perfect the concepts ahead of time, and understand every topic fully. Mrs. Surbhi is available to answer questions most of the time over text as well, and this is extremely helpful when completing work outside class. Almost all question materials have detailed answers and explanations, which helped me understand my mistakes and learn self-paced outside of class as well. The class structure is interactive and engaging, and I enjoyed learning the subject itself.
The key concept package was most helpful for last-minute AP Exam review and studying before LIVE tests in the course. I never ran out of questions to practice, and the questions in all the material are very similar to the ones on the AP exam. I recommend completing the unit tests throughout the year while learning the topics, and once again before the AP Exam as review, as there are enough questions in each to provide good practice the second time around as well. If a topic is forgotten fully, reviewing the recorded lectures is a helpful way to learn a concept again.
Overall, the course was an amazing experience as a sophomore self-studying AP Chem even with minimal prior chemistry knowledge. It prepared me well for the AP Exam and had all the material and resources I needed throughout the year. Thank you so much - - Student (G.), Mountain House High School
Mrs. Surbhi's classes were a great learning experience. I was told by many that AP chemistry is tough and a hard class especially for someone like me who took non honors chem and had a gap year between(took non honors in 10th and took AP chem in 12th) that class and AP chem. So I decided to take Mrs. Surbhi's class. I was able to learn ahead and starting in the summer and so when the school year started I was actually able to understand what my teacher was teaching me because of starting early and knowing the concepts beforehand. Another great thing about Mrs. Surbhi's classes is that she gives a TON of resources on her google classroom that are super helpful like review problems, slideshows with all the concepts(AP key concepts package), and past Ap exam questions which all are super helpful when it comes to studying. AP chemistry has so many topics and concepts and it's hard to keep all that information in your head but with Ms. Surbhi's classes I have been able to retain everything. Some success tips I have for AP chemistry is that study AHEAD it really helps, use all of Mrs. Surbhi's resources, and enjoy the subject because than it comes to you really easily, lastly if you have questions about any topic just ask Mrs. Surbhi, she is super nice and will be able to clear your doubts after one explanation. - Student (N.), Mission San Jose High School
Ms. Surbhi’s class was honestly one of the best learning experiences I’ve ever had. She has a way of explaining things that just makes everything click. Because of her, I was able to understand concepts early, which made the rest of the course so much easier and way less stressful. Instead of just memorizing equations and formulas, I understood the "why" behind everything, and that made a huge difference. What I appreciated was how patient and supportive she was. No matter how many questions we asked, she never made anyone feel like they were falling behind. She genuinely cared about making sure we got it, and that kind of teaching is rare. Her passion for chemistry was contagious, and she made even the hardest topics feel approachable. Thanks to her, I feel so much more confident in chemistry, and I know this solid foundation will help me in the future. I’m grateful for everything she taught me—it made such a difference! Mrs. Surbhi’s lectures are well-informative and are easy to follow. She gives challenging questions that make students think about several topics connected to it, even if it may be from past units. She also is very understanding as she takes the time to re-explain certain problems or topics again when a student has not fully grasped it yet. Since she is ahead of the school curriculum, the knowledge I gained from these lectures put me ahead of the class as I understood the topic thoroughly when Mrs. Surbhi taught me. The google classroom tests, worksheets, daily practice problems, and free-response questions all have helped me with my tests as well as expanded my knowledge on how to properly assess each multiple choice and free response question for the AP exam. - Student (M.G.) American High School

As the quizzes started to come by, I prepared with Ms. Surbhi's resources. Every time I opened one of her assignments to prepare for a quiz, that quiz always had a score of almost 100%. There were times when I didn't prepare well enough and didn't properly use the material she gave, at those times, my quiz grades plummeted. Don't worry, I made sure to use Ms. Surbhi's material to do better on the next ones so that I can save my grade. Despite having to unexpectedly switch schools in the middle of my first semester and having to adjust to a completely different curriculum, Ms. Surbhi’s chemistry classes strengthened my foundations in such a way that I didn’t need to worry about chemistry as a subject last semester. At my previous school, chemistry was taught in a very rushed manner, with a heavy emphasis on solving practice questions rather than understanding the core concepts. However, Ms. Surbhi’s lessons, which I attended both over the summer and during the school year, helped me stay on top of my chemistry grade, even though my previous teacher had very specific expectations.
When I transferred to my new school, chemistry became much more detailed and required a deeper understanding and explanation of every topic. This shift was initially challenging for me, but Ms. Surbhi’s classes were instrumental in helping me adapt to this new format. Her clear, patient explanations and her ability to break down even the most complex concepts made it easier for me to grasp the material.
Ms. Surbhi’s approach to teaching is highly effective. She not only helps students understand the theoretical aspects of chemistry but also provides practical applications of the concepts, which makes learning much more engaging and meaningful. Her classes are always well-organized, and she consistently checks for understanding, ensuring no one falls behind.

I have been part of Ms. Surbhi's honors chemistry class from the start of summer break before the school year started, and I can say that this class is one of the main reasons for my success in chemistry this year. Learning chemistry before the school year had started gave me a headstart on the subject, which is a big boost because teachers skim through the material and do not allow the students to learn the concepts deeply. This makes students fall behind since they do not know what is happening. However, learning ahead helped me not to fall behind; rather, it assisted me in staying in front of the curriculum. Nevertheless, learning chemistry a few months before the topic gets covered in class is not only the key to success. Being able to review the topics every day or every week is what helped me to become a successful chemistry student. Ms. Surbhi's online Google Classroom material helped me review the concepts, as the material was in-depth about what we learned and only takes around 5-10 minutes to get the concept back in your brain. A tip for success for incoming chemistry students is to always keep reviewing, as learning before and forgetting everything when the topic is being taught is useless.- Student (S.), Mission San Jose High School
Mrs. Surbhi has been an incredible help throughout my Honors Chemistry journey. Her easy-to-read key concept slides made even the toughest topics clear and manageable. She always took the time to explain concepts in a way that made sense, and her structured approach made studying so much easier. Her video recordings made me feel like I was sitting in her class, and concepts my school teacher spent days teaching I was able to grasp clearly in minutes within her video. Some tips I have for incoming honors chemistry students would be to use and read the key concept slides everyday and to ensure that you are reading them carefully because they have important information that may not have been covered as clearly in class and help provide better understanding. Also asking questions through text messages are very helpful because it can help clear a concept at the last minute and Mrs Surbhi’s responses are faster than the blink of my eye. Thanks to her guidance, I felt more confident tackling challenging problems and truly enjoyed learning chemistry. - Student (S.V.), Dougherty Valley High School
I am deeply indebted to Ms. Surbhi for the tremendous impact she has made on my educational journey in chemistry. When I started the Chemistry Honors course, I faced immense challenges and was struggling with the material as a result of my school teacher's inability to explain concepts clearly and the inadequate support given. This made me feel lost, frustrated, and uncertain if I could excel in the class. My situation greatly changed, however, when I started learning under Ms. Surbhi. From the very first session, she was patient, and kind, and exhibited an amazing degree of expertise. She spent time explaining complex ideas in simple terms, dissecting them piece by piece until I had a complete understanding. Rather than merely promoting memorization of formulas, she made me see the chemistry underlying the reasoning so that learning became fun as well as feasible. No matter how many questions I asked her, she always made me feel as if I was not asking too much. Her encouragement and teaching style had given me the self-confidence needed to approach problems with understanding instead of fear. Ms. Surbhi has always been patient and welcoming to all of her students and has given everyone an equal opportunity to excel in her classes. She connects with her students as if she's known them for years as opposed to a teacher, and pushes them to be motivated and succeed. Her support throughout this past school year has significantly impacted me and I can not imagine how chemistry would have gone without her help. Ms. Surbhi's encouragement and emphasis on practice have taught me so much about how I should study. I hope to continue using my study habits of practicing every type of problem and studying several days in advance in my coming years of high school, too. - Student (R.), Mission San Jose High School
When I had first started chemistry, I struggled tremendously with the subject. As a straight A student my entire life I thought I was faced with learning to accept earning a B, dangerously close to a C, for the first time in my life. It was only through joining Ms. Surbhi’s classes that I was able to make an academic comeback and start acing my chemistry tests. Through her interest in individual students and being constantly online, immediately responding to any texts, as well as being on top of everyone’s grades, the personal level of attention that she has with each and every one of her students is what differentiates her classes above all others. However, the one element of her method of tutoring that makes her especially unique is her knowledge of what is being taught across multiple high schools as well as individual teachers, making her content as personalized to help in acing the school curriculum as possible. Her dedication to teaching chemistry and her clear animation during the process will not only aid in school but spark a light of passion among her students as well. I am currently enrolled in the Chemistry Honors course offered at Leland High School. The course is most definitely not easy and has an average grade that is quite low. The course begins at school during the August time period, and by then, I was already knowledgeable in a significant amount of topics introduced at school. Ms. Surbhi’s proactivity with helping kids like us months ahead of time is just one of the many ways her class has both made school manageable and deepened my interest in chemistry. One aspect I would like to highlight the most is the vast array of resources Ms. Surbhi willingly provides for us. Any topic—sig figs, stoichiometry, nomenclature, chemical reactions, just to name a few, resources on every aspect and detail of every single topic any school can possibly cover is available on her google classroom. This alone was single handedly able to help me maintain an “A” grade in the class. Another manner in which Ms. Surbhi’s class is extremely helpful is that Ms. Surbhi is always available to eagerly answer questions. Due to the lack of proper teaching at my school, the niche topics that showed up on my school homework had me stumped for hours. When I would reach out to Ms. Surbhi on Whatsapp, she would instantly respond with an extremely concise, understandable, yet fulfilling answer. Not only did having help at hands reach complete my understanding and expand my knowledge on the topic, it allowed me to help my peers at school who were in the position I was in before I asked for Ms. Surbhi’s help. These aspects of Ms. Surbhi’s course are just a mere few of the plethora of ways it benefited me. Now, a couple of tips I have for rising freshman/sophomores who are planning to take this course is to always ask questions. Ms. Surbhi’s class fosters an environment that encourages everyone to ask questions no matter how basic or elementary, and I really suggest that everyone takes advantage of this. Whether it is a question to clear up a concept that didn’t make sense or a question to go deeper into the current topic, never refrain from clarifying. Additionally, I highly recommend you to watch the videos if you miss class. From experience, I have noted that watching the video when I miss class is ten fold more helpful than trying to take shortcuts and self-learn the current week’s topic. The class recording is super valuable, please don’t try to use external resources as they likely not be nearly as helpful. If you have a question while watching the video that you would’ve asked if you were present in class, please make sure to send Ms. Surbhi a message on WhatsApp, she will most definitely thoroughly answer your question. To say the least, Ms. Surbhi’s class is as helpful as it can get. From having every single resource at hands reach and being able to ask questions whenever you have them, this class will ensure that you breeze through the course your school offers. Going beyond the superficial means of the class ensuring you maintain an “A” grade, Ms. Surbhi’s class will allow you to build an interest for chemistry and change your lenses from chemistry being a school subject to something enjoyable. - Student (B.N.), Leland High School
I am a senior at American High School. Because I decided to take a gap year between Chemistry Honors and AP Chemistry, I forgot many chemistry concepts from 10th grade during my junior year. However, because Dr. Jain begins preparation the summer before the school year begins, I had no problems picking up when the year began. Dr. Jain maintains this pace throughout the year and keeps track of the progress that each school's teachers are making, so I was always ahead of my school's schedule by at least 1 unit. It is really helpful to hear concepts once from Dr. Jain and again at school; this gives twice the time to thoroughly understand concepts. In addition, her practice material bank is exhaustive, and if you utilize all that she has to offer, you will be more than prepared for tests at school as well as the AP Exam. I seriously recommend Mrs. Jain's classes, even if you are not having difficulty in school and just want to learn chemistry in more depth. - Student (R.), American High School

Mrs. Surbhi has a talent for simplifying complex topics, making them accessible to students of all levels. Her patience and willingness to offer additional support helps me a lot and my overwhelming questions in chemistry. I am truly thankful for the guidance and encouragement I received from Mrs. Surbhi during the first semester. One thing I recommend is to keep doing the google form tests over and over again until you get a 100. Not a 95 but a 100. If you do this, then you are sure to do good on your school tests. Not only did she help me achieve academic excellence, but she also fostered in me a deep and soon to continue passion for chemistry. - Student (S.), American High School
Your classes have helped me tremendously in keeping track of what's coming in the future, as well as maintaining what's going on currently. Due to your early start in the summer, it helped me get ready for my school's chemistry. It was as if during school, I was relearning the information as a review, reinforcing my concepts even more. You being ahead of the school's curriculum was one of the biggest helpers for my success in Chemistry Honors. To maintain what was going on currently, you often told us to look back at the assignments that were assigned to us in the past, which went over the topic thoroughly, including questions in the styles of my teacher, which helped me a lot too. One tip for rising sophomores can be to keep a separate notebook for Ms.Surbhi's class and your school's chemistry. This will help you keep track of what's going on in both chemistry classes. Another tip is to rewatch recordings of topics on your school tests. If you don't have it ASK for the recording, Ms.Surbhi will never say no to sending you a recording. My last tip for you is to not study only occasionally, or in other words, only when you have a test. Always keep studying and reviewing the key concepts Ms.Surbhi posts, so studying for a test won't seem very stressful, and more calm of a job to do. That's it from me. Overall, Ms.Surbhi is an exceptional teacher, and I definitely recommend you to attend her classes. - Student (A.), American High School
I'm genuinely delighted to have Ms. Surbhi as my tutor. She has established the groundwork for my understanding of chemistry. Each concept is clarified in a comprehensible manner. Through her precise approach, she ensures that every student grasps the concept of the subject. The additional Google form she gives before assessments instill a sense of confidence, enabling me to approach tests with minimal stress. Thanks to her guidance, I now possess the assurance that chemistry is indeed within my grasp. - Student (A.), Irvington High School
Before joining Dr. Surbhi Jain's class I was not too fond of AP Chemistry and the curriculum as I did not take Chemistry honors previously. Though the pacing is quick (to be ahead of school) Dr. Surbhi takes her time to explain each topic effectively, provides numerous practice problems, and answers any questions immediately and in detail. I greatly appreciate her explanatory skills as even someone who does not have a high chemistry background like me can grasp each concept properly. With the amount of practice given, I can improve both in school and in terms of conceptualizing the subjects discussed (for the AP test). I recommend Dr. Surbhi Jain's class to anyone who will be taking AP Chemistry as she is highly experienced with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and is overall a great teacher. She can be strict sometimes but this is a great way for the student to be attentive and more understanding of how they can improve. Her class is a safe space for learning rather than the competitive pressure in academics. The purpose of this class is not to point out your flaws but to constantly strive for improvement (and receive the best grade you can on the AP test). Some tips that I learned along the way are not to procrastinate, keep up with the class by watching the videos when missing a class, outside of just doing the homework do the extra practice given, review effectively before school/class tests (at least a week before) by practicing and using the notes taken in Dr. Surbhi's class, and most importantly to not be afraid of asking questions as Dr. Surbhi efficiently clarifies any concern. It is also significant to pay attention and review your notes numerous times. Hopefully, this message has helped the reader understand the impact of this class! - Student (P.), American High School
Dr. Jain wasn't just my AP Chem teacher, she was my chemistry savior. She turned confusion into clarity, fear into confidence, and ignited a passion for science I never knew I had. Ms. Surbhi's classes are one of the best tutoring sessions I have ever had. She is able to make Chemistry interesting while also challenging students to improve their understanding of the subject. Although her class is tough at times, I'm always prepared before the subject is taught at school and I don't have to stress as much when taking tests because of everything she has taught me. Additionally, I really appreciate all the worksheets that she lays out for us and the video recordings that allow me to rewatch lessons or catch up on anything I don't understand. Thank you so much Ms. Surbhi! -Student (S.), Lynbrook High School
Ms. Surbhi is a great teacher. She’s fun to work with and is very efficient in how she teaches. She’s like one of those teachers who really enjoys her class which really helps her get her point across. She helps make what you think would be a boring lesson on stoichiometry by cracking some funny jokes that totally match what we’re doing. She also just knows how to connect with her students and is pretty much available all the time. If I need help with something, all I need to do is send her a quick text and she’ll be ready to help me. And when she’s helping you, she’s not helping you by just giving you the answer and expecting you to work it out backwards. She helps guide you towards the answer and is really proud whenever any of her students understands the concept that she’s trying to teach. Overall, she’s just a really great teacher and without her I would probably be struggling a lot more in Chemistry Honours. - Student (S.), American High School
When I first joined Ms. Surbhi’s class, I was taking AP Chemistry without any prior chemistry knowledge. Ms. Surbhi consistently pushed me to study smarter and focus on the tiny details within complex topics. Her support extended beyond lectures, as she also provided many helpful resources that allowed me to practice independently. Ms. Surbhi’s teaching style seamlessly combines clarity with enthusiasm, making even the most challenging topics comprehensible. Even after office hours, she continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to her student’s success through her willingness to assist and clarify doubts, which I am truly grateful for. Overall, I would highly recommend taking Ms. Surbhi’s class if you want to succeed in your chemistry course. Her passion for teaching, effective instructional methods, and dedication to her student’s success make her class a truly enriching learning experience. - Student (H.), Amador Valley High School
Before taking Dr. Surbhi's AP Chemistry class, I thought I would never like chemistry and would never be good at it. Now, it is the singular subject that I love most across all of the things I have learned throughout high school. Dr. Surbhi simply made chemistry click with me.
I had struggled in my early years of high school with chemistry because our school has very weak, unorganized chemistry classes and teachers. I hardly knew how to write chemical reactions going into AP Chem. And the situation of my AP Chem class was even worse: the teacher gave us test questions that were written incorrectly that the students had to fix, gave us strange lectures where half the time we were answering the teachers' questions, and even gave us assignments on material that was not even in the AP curriculum! Because of this, I never believed I would have a strong foundation.
But Dr. Surbhi's teaching turned my mindset a complete 180 degrees. To succeed in chemistry in Dr. Surbhi's class it's very simple: take good notes, practice what you are weak on, ask lots of questions, and never stop using the resources that Dr. Surbhi provides. From notes, to AP-style practice problems, to quick summaries of key concepts that you can review every day for five minutes to stay in touch, the wide range of material that Dr. Surbhi provides made it so much easier for me to stay on top of AP chem. I never had to go on long google searches to learn a concept, never had to spend time searching practice problems to study---it was always right there. And if I ever had any struggles or doubts, Dr. Surbhi was always just one message away to answer my questions. As a high school student myself, I understand how precious time is and how little of it we students can have. And I wasn't a perfect student in Dr. Surbhi's class either, I struggled in the beginning. But Dr. Surbhi wants nothing more than to help each and every one of her students and guide them to success, and her support took me farther than I ever imagined I would get in AP Chemistry. So my advice to all future AP Chem students: take Dr. Surbhi's class, review AP chem concepts for at least fifteen minutes a day, and never be afraid to ask as many questions as possible.
Dr. Surbhi is such a passionate and hardworking teacher and that is infectious. With the time and love she has for the subject and her students, there's no way I couldn't possible feel the same way. Because of Dr. Surbhi and her class, a subject that would have been a struggle for me at my class, has turned into one of my favorites. I can never thank you enough, Dr. Surbhi. You have my utmost gratitude! - Student (M.), Leland High School
Ms. Surbhi’s chemistry classes made my high school chemistry lessons much easier. In school, I was able to grasp the concept much easily and faster compared to my peers. The classes also started over summer, which was helpful since I had time to review and understand a concept before learning it in school and being tested on it. I was also able to ask Ms. Surbhi any doubts I had during class and over text. Additionally, Ms.Surbhi provides you with plenty to materials to study, oftentimes more than you will be able to do, which is an excellent way to prepare for a test/quiz and review old concepts you might have forgotten. Her class helped lay the basic foundation for chemistry, which isn’t taught so well in my school, and it sparked my interest in chemistry. Furthermore, after every class, Ms.Surbhi shares a recording with all her students, which is helpful in case you missed a class or want to use it to review. I was able to learn a lot in this class and appreciate all the time Ms.Surbhi has spent on her students and making the lessons. - Student (N.), Irvington High School
I took Dr. Surbhi's AP Chem class in 2023-24, hoping to sufficiently prepare for the AP test. In 10th grade, I had a great chemistry honors teacher who laid a solid foundation for the AP course. However, the teacher I was given for AP was known for not being a great teacher and failing to complete the curriculum. By January, we had only covered around 30% of the course, and had an overly ambitious plan to finish the remaining 70% by May. Dr. Surbhi’s class was the opposite, very well planned, providing sufficient time not only to cover the entire curriculum but also for review. The amount of material that was provided was like a lifeline, ensuring that I was prepared for the AP test but also maintained my grades at school without stress. To students reading this, don't take this as an excuse to neglect school class, but also, do not ignore Dr. Surbhi's class. During this time I also had an ambitious schedule that often prevented me from spending the time I wanted for Dr. Surbhi's class. There were instances when I couldn't stay for the entire class or attend at all. Over the weekends, I dedicated around 3 hours to watch videos, take notes, and do practice problems. No matter how packed your schedule is, keep at least 3 hours per week to Dr. Surbhi's class, excluding study time for your school class. Overall, Dr. Surbhi's AP Chem class played a significant part in my AP Chem experience. The structured plan, ample review time, and practice materials not only helped me succeed in the AP test but also relieved stress about my school class. I am thankful to Dr. Surbhi for being a guiding force and providing support that helped me through the course. - Student (P.D.), Irvington High School
I began learning with Ms. Surbhi over the summer in order to prep for chemistry honors. She is a patient and understanding teacher, who ensures every students’s thorough comprehension of each concept in chemistry. Thanks to Ms. Surbhi’s diligent teaching over the summer, I entered the school year confident in my chemistry knowledge. Unfortunately, I was put into a lower chemistry level instead of chemistry honors; despite my efforts I wasn’t able to get a spot in the class due to overcrowding. Though I felt dejected in that moment, I still found motivation and continued to learning from Ms. Surbhi. Considering things didn’t work out the way I had expected, the knowledge and newfound interest I gained in chemistry was something that never failed me. Ms. Surbhi still valued me as a student and encouraged my learning experience regardless of the issues I faced. I am thankful I had the opportunity to learn from a passionate hardworking teacher! - Student (A.R.), American High School
I took Dr. Jain's AP Chemistry class because I knew this class would be difficult and the additional support would be beneficial. Dr. Jain's class was well-paced and I learned content in her class before learning it in class. This gave me a much-needed headstart in understanding topics in my high school class. Dr. Jain's resources were advantageous when I studied for school tests because she took the time to curate detailed key concept slides and practice worksheets. I would use these to study for tests because my school teacher expected us to self-study most of the content. Without her classes and constant encouragement, I can't even begin to imagine how much more difficult this class would've been.- Student (A.), Mountain House High School
Chemistry Honors at Mission San Jose High School was very challenging. However, Ms Surbhi’s classes made everything so much easier for me. My school teacher does not teach well, so I relied heavily on Ms Surbhi’s classes, and Ms Surbhi’s classes were really helpful to me because she teaches really well, and she also gives challenging homework problems that are up to my school teacher's test problem level. I think the most important thing in chemistry is to keep practicing and keep reviewing. Do not forget the older concepts because the new concepts build up on the older concepts! Additionally, my school teacher deducts anywhere from 10%-20% of your test grade, even if you make one mistake, so make sure to keep practicing so you do not make any silly mistakes. Ms. Surbhi really guides you and helps you out not only in chemistry, but also to be a better student! - Student (S.), Mission San Jose High School
Coming into Dr. Surbhi's AP Chemistry class, I was worried about how I would perform and learn the material. I had a terrible pre-AP chemistry teacher, so I had to teach myself the content my entire sophomore year, and I wasn't sure how I would fare in AP chemistry. But, Dr. Surbhi's class completely helped me not only learn the content but also relate it to other concepts and ideas. Initially, I was overwhelmed with how much I had to learn, along with my heavy junior-year coursework. However, I started looking at the endless resources Dr. Surbhi provides us, which truly helped me skyrocket over the rest of my peers. From watching the videos in-depth, looking through the key concepts slides, and practicing my knowledge of the MCQs and FRQs provided, I maintained a high A in my school AP Chemistry class. Some tips I have for other juniors to succeed in Dr. Surbhi's class and AP Chemistry in school are to utilize the resources she provides for us and actively practice problems. Since she teaches content to get us ahead of our school classes, I suggest making the best of that time by solidifying your knowledge of the learned concepts. - Student (A.V.), Lake Travis High, Austin, TX
Dr. Jain’s class was extremely helpful for me this year. She is a great teacher who explains complicated topics very well in a way that is easy to understand. Thanks to her, I had no problems with chemistry at my school, and I was able to finish my homework really quickly since I was already familiar with the concepts. The practice problems that Dr. Jain provides are all very useful for my learning, and have helped make me more confident in chemistry. Dr. Jain also taught me many great tips and tricks that make doing problems a lot easier, which we didn’t learn in school. Additionally, she is easy to contact for questions and replies very quickly. Looking back, I’m extremely glad that I enrolled in this class! - Student (O.), Mission San Jose High School
I took Chemistry Honors 10 at Irvington High School with a challenging teacher. Attending and keeping up with Ms. Surbhi's classes helped me go ahead of the class and understand concepts in depth. Ms. Surbhi is always available over WhatsApp for any questions and also creates other tests and practices that cater to the student's needs at school. Each topic assignment in Google Classroom has multiple worksheets for extra practice that are helpful for extra practice. One class covers a lot so keeping one dedicated notebook with good notes throughout the class is extremely crucial as it helps for revision any time after. Video recordings of the live classes are sent afterwards and watching and revising them for tests is really helpful to study and revise for tests. I am truly grateful for this class, which has carried my grades to an "A". Since the classes started before school, Ms. Surbhi taught me good study habits that I have incorporated into my routine which has overall made me a better chemist and student! - Student (I.), Irvington High School
Ms. Surbhi's class is the reason I was able to enjoy chemistry while also learning. By starting early in the summer, I was able to get a head start and when topics were covered in school, I wasn't focused on cramming the information in my head, rather I had time to ask questions. In terms of success tips for Ms. Surbhi's class, DON'T FALL BEHIND. That is the best advice I could give. Chemistry is a subject where everything builds on what you learned before. So if you are shaky on some concept early on (ex: for me it was writing net ionic equations), make sure you spend time then and fix your problem. In addition, use the resources provided to you by Ms. Surbhi strategically, in a way that fits you and your work ethic. For me, the resource that was the most useful, hands down, was the key concepts package which is a slideshow that has all the important things you must know for your exam. It is a great way for you to do small reviews everyday (like flashcards) and keep the information on your fingertips. Lastly, I'd like to say that AP Chemistry may sound overwhelming or impossible in the beginning. But Ms. Surbhi makes it so that every student, no matter how much chemistry background they have, can excel in the class, as long as they keep in track with her resources. Remember, you can do this! In order to stay on task, I tried my best to be engaged in class and answer all Ms. Surbhi's questions through the chat window. If I didn't come to class (which was rare) I watched the video before the following week. However, once school started, I was not able to commit time to doing Ms. Surbhi's homework which often required 30 min to 1 hour. This was another reason why attending class was my biggest priority! - Student (V.), Mission San Jose High School
I am deeply grateful for joining Ms. Surbhi’s classes. Initially, I had no prior knowledge of chemistry, but Ms. Surbhi’s lessons have been extremely valuable in providing a thorough understanding of complex topics. Unlike some teachers at school who do not review topics in-depth, Ms. Surbhi truly goes above and beyond. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve not only been able to get ahead on content but also perform well on tests and quizzes. Ms. Surbhi’s dedicated efforts in preparing lessons and homework every week have truly paid off. Ms. Surbhi is incredibly accommodating and she makes sure that all students understand the topics she teaches. Thank you so much, Ms. Surbhi! - Student (S.K.), Irvington High School
Having a teacher like Dr. Surbhi was helpful for me as a student and as a person. She made me understand the concepts that I was struggling with and every time I or anyone in the class had a question she would stop the class and make sure the student understood the concept before moving on to the next topic. She is a very dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who has a passion for teaching and mentoring kids in Chemistry. She focuses on every one of her students and connects with everyone. Her classes are very engaging and she makes sure everyone is attending and taking full advantage of the class. She is always willing to help if we have any questions outside class. I am very glad I found Dr. Surbhi to help me with preparing for my Honors Chemistry Class. I would join her class to prepare for my AP class next year. Sincerely - Student (R.A.), Harker
Mrs. Surbhi's class has helped me so much through my year in honors chemistry! Before her class, chemistry seemed a lot more challenging and intimidating but the way she taught really helped me understand and grow to enjoy chemistry. She reviews each concept thoroughly and provides several resources like google form tests and worksheets to help you through the lessons. Personally, the communication she has with her students outside actual classes really helped me talk to her about challenging problems or tests. Thank you so much Mrs. Surbhi!! - Student (A.P.), Mission San Jose High School
Mrs. Surbhi's class has helped me in a multitude of ways including understanding the foundation of difficult topics, going through different resources to study for tests/quizzes, focusing on specific types of problems for the tests/quizzes, and giving significant amounts of feedback and motivation to stay on track to perform well in school and on the AP Chemistry exam.
A few struggles that I faced were performing well during lab quizzes as they were more dependent on the lab procedure and questions rather than the chapter which included the topics experimented in the lab. To move past this obstacle, I participated more during the lab itself and took up more responsibility for the lab document questions, rather than pinning it on my lab members. This allowed me to explore the topic deeper, which as a result, helped me understand the overall chapter better. Hence, also improving my test scores. In addition, whenever we had a lab quiz, Mrs.Surbhi usually checked in with me beforehand so that my understanding was clear regarding the topics that would I be tested on.
Although, AP Chemistry is a challenging course, with the right study plan and time management it should not be as difficult. My only suggestion would be to understand and finish writing notes for the ongoing chapter before it starts or at the very beginning. This would help avoid procrastinating learning any topics right before the exam and feeling unprepared. This also allows you to get more time to practice for the chapter test itself.
A few tips I would suggest for students would be to reach out during any times of confusion or if you need additional help. Being quiet if you are confused is never the solution as it makes it difficult for your teacher to assess your understanding and you make it harder on yourself as you will feel unprepared and be lost for class, labs, and tests/quizzes. - Student (S.C.), Cupertino High School
I am so glad that I was able to attend and take Mrs. Subhi's classes. She really helped me a lot in understanding chemistry and throughout the year, I was able to learn so many things. Before entering the class, I had no prior knowledge of chemistry but Mrs. Subhi's way of teaching helped me get a better grasp on the concepts. She provides a lot of examples and practice problems during and outside of class which allowed me to reinforce what I had learned. Additionally, she really wants every student to fully understand the concepts in chemistry and is able to provide all the resources you need to ace chemistry. Since the class starts in June, I learned the concepts ahead of time and had a much easier time listening and understanding what my teacher in school was teaching. - Student (S.C.), Mission San Jose High School
I am so grateful for Mrs.Surbhi and her dedication to helping all her students. Prior to this class, I had very little knowledge of what chemistry was and I didn't really enjoy it, but this class has changed my mindset. Mrs.Surbhi is a very committed teacher who is willing to put in effort and assist you, not only succeed to get an A in school but to also gain an understanding of the subject itself. She works to every student's needs by providing various forms of practice to ensure confidence for test days. Furthermore, being ahead of the school curriculum helps because you will always know what's going on in class and it only seems like a revision of something that you already strongly understand. I am very thankful for Mrs.Surbhi's constant support and her passion which has made me take a liking for chemistry! - Student (N.), American High School
Thank you Ms. Surbhi! I want to express how thankful I am for your summer classes which made chemistry this semester a breeze. I am proud to report back that I am ending this semester with a 96 in AP chem, which is something I could not have achieved without you. Thank you for everything! - Student (A.), St. Francis High School
Hi, I got a 100% on my chem final!!! Technically, I got a 98 but there was a 2-point curve so it got entered as a 100 :) Thank you so much for all your help! Your class really helped take away a lot of the stress from chem in school! - Student (I.G.), Monta Vista High School
Going into Chem honors, I was quite nervous because I didn’t know what to expect out of an honors class. My mom signed me up with Ms Surbhi for preparation. Although this class is fast speed, it helped me extremely. During the summer, I completed 80 percent of the topics that I learned in first semester. The practice worksheets and homework which was assigned to me was difficult, however they made the tests in school a breeze. This class homework goes through every type of problem which can be given in a test. I always made sure that I kept an hour or two to complete the homework assigned for me. As a result to this, I finished with a comfortable 97 percent and never struggled with a single concept. - Student (A.), Homestead High School
Ms. Surbhi has been one of the best tutors I have had! She always makes sure to be ahead of school so I have lots of time to prepare and learn the material, if there is something I learned in school that she hasn't covered she always spends extra time with me making sure that I understand all the material. - Student (S.), Henry M Gunn High School
Ms. Surbhi reviews the concepts well in an easy-to-understand, but detailed way which was super helpful. In addition, she went over multiple problems that reinforced my understanding. She also provided worksheets with more problems and they were helpful because I could double-check my work. Overall, her style of teaching made the concepts more interesting and I was more engaged compared to my actual class. I recommend students to make sure they take their time to understand the concepts and do all the problems. Thank you for your help! - Student (V), Adrian Wilcox High School
Chemistry is a really fun subject depending on your teacher. Our teacher was great, but the curriculum was messed up with new subjects combined with normal chemistry. Thankfully, my teacher Mrs. Surbhi helped me out a lot. From homework assignments to tests, she gives good feedback with it and helps me clear any questions I have during school. Learning ahead of the curriculum is also very good as I could easily pass my tests. Because of the new curriculum things were very messy, but Mrs. Surbhi hosted some classes based on those lessons and it really did help. All in all, this chemistry tutoring helped me so much in school and I very much enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you so much Mrs. Surbhi :) - Student (A.), Irvington High School
Dr. Surbhi has helped so much with AP Chem. Her classes are always extremely informational, and the review sessions always help prepare me for any quizzes. It’s also extremely helpful since it allows me to learn the content prior to learning it at school which allows me to perform better on any tests. She’s always available for extra help if you need help with any questions or need to review another concept. Overall, the chemistry tutoring and classes with Dr. Surbhi helped me prepare a lot for both school and the AP exam, and even allowed me to get a 5. - Student (S., Kent Place School, New Jersey)
Ms Surbhi’s guidance has been so helpful for me this year in Chem Honors. While school teachers are often busy and unable to help every individual, Ms Surbhi’s genuine efforts to help me succeed have grown my confidence in chemistry. Her dedication to help each and every student shines through her clear teaching. Once, a few hours before taking an exam, I wanted clarification on a certain topic because I was uncertain and I texted her; Ms Surbhi responded minutes later and cleared out my doubts. This is just one of the many instances where her care for her students' success can be seen. Ms Surbhi’s guidance has ignited my love for chemistry and made it one of my favorite subjects! - Student (R.), Cupertino High School

She is a great teacher and is kind, patient, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable. She puts time into creating homework and answering questions and is available to help at any time. Her class especially helped me during a period of three weeks when I missed school due to a surgery. I was able to access her class materials and self studied what was being learned in school. Ms. Surbhi’s class will definitely help you or your child. - Student (P.), American High School
Hello everyone! I am currently a junior at Lynbrook High School and I have been with Ms. Surbhi for around 2 years now, one for Chem H and one for AP Chem. I came to her at the beginning of sophomore year after receiving a D on my first test and having a C+ in the class, and I was so desperate and almost about to drop down to regular Chemistry. I still remember how difficult Ms. Surbhi’s classes and problems were at first, the harder topics for me being part of the wave and light emission unit, but through her help and my willingness to listen, I was able to bring my grade up to an A by the end of the semester. I cannot stress enough how thorough Ms. Surbhi is with each one of her students and how much she really cares about everybody’s improvement and seeing that each person goes and reaches their end goal. She is really an amazing teacher and I recommend that everybody who is taking a Chemistry course enrolls in her classes. To succeed in Ms. Surbhi’s classes, you need to be someone who is willing to give her your due diligence, which means listening all the time during her classes and doing all the homework that she assigns (it is really not so bad). If you follow these tips, be hopeful about your grade, and learn to love Chemistry, you will succeed for sure in Ms. Surbhi’s class and at school. Anybody can succeed if they are willing to put in the work, and if you are that type of person, Ms. Surbhi will take you there. - Student (S.), Lynbrook High School
This chemistry class has truly been a game-changer for me. It's incredible how much better I've been able to succeed in chemistry compared to traditional school learning. Mrs. Surbhi stays behind us until every single student has understood the material. She goes above and beyond simply feeding us information in a way that we won't understand; instead, she takes the time to help us truly comprehend the concepts, gives us regular homework, class recordings, and even extra practice. If you're looking to stay ahead of your school curriculum, diligently complete the homework assigned by Mrs. Surbhi with focus. I had joined Ms. Jain's classes a little later(during October), and even though I had a lot to catch up on, Ms. Jain still took me in and helped me bring my grades back up to where I wanted. Ms. Jain really helped me understand the chemistry topics rather than just memorizing them. She was always online on Whatsapp to answer any questions I may have had. - Student (S.), Cupertino High School
Thank you Ms Surbhi. Thank you for taking me in so late, and being of great help to me. Truthfully, I haven’t been the best student, especially in chemistry this semester due to some personal circumstances but whatever you have taught me while I was your student has stuck in my head. Once again, thank you Ms Surbhi, you are genuinely one of the best teachers I have ever known in my life so far. - Student (S.), Moreau Catholic High School
This class helped me succeed in chemistry better than any way I thought I could if I had just learned from school. Mrs. Jain makes your experience fun and enjoyable while helping you understand the subject rather than just feeding knowledge in a way that you won't understand. She can also help you learn chemistry easier due to the fact that there are fewer students to teach and she can find time to help all of them while also not losing time. I advise that all you need to do to stay ahead of school is to just do the HW Mrs. Jain diligently and with focus so that you can know everything your school chemistry teacher is going to teach you before he teaches you. - Student (A.), Washington High School

One of the things that really stood out to me was the tutor's ability to break down complex concepts into simpler terms that were much easier to understand. I also liked the idea of having slides teaching the concept and right after would be a couple of practice problems to see whether the students have fully grasped the concept. Another thing that I really appreciated about the tutoring class was her willingness to answer all of my questions. No matter how small or trivial my questions were, they always took the time to provide detailed explanations and help me work through any areas of confusion. Overall, I can confidently say that Mrs. Jain’s AP Chemistry tutoring class helped improve my grades and understanding of the material. I have also found it helpful that you have loads of practice problems to try out. When having a hard time understanding a concept, I watch her videos and it drastically improves my understanding. She also constantly follows up with me to ensure that I am doing well. Overall, I would recommend taking Ms. Surbhi's class. - Student (A.), Homestead High School
I am currently studying Chemistry Honors and Ms. Surbhi's classes are very helpful to me. She explains each concept in detail and provides many assignments and tests to ensure we are prepared. Thanks, Ms. Surbhi! - Student (R.), Washington High School
Throughout the course/classes they have helped me focus on the topic at times and the key concepts that were going to be taught in my personal school class and Surbhi's classes. These classes help you prepare for your school class along with the AP Test. There are lots of different resources which can help you. These different resources/practices make you strengthen your mind for the topic at hand and will make the next questions easier for you to understand and solve which is very helpful. - Student (A.), Leigh High School
Ms. Jain's class was really helpful for me. It went over the basic concepts really well, and then taught us how to apply those concepts to actual problems. Ms. Jain herself is very nice, and very patient. If you don't fully understand a concept, she will take the time to make sure that you do. One tip that will help you be successful in the class is to always take notes. A lot of the concepts in AP Chemistry build off of each other, and so it is helpful to take notes on every lesson, so you can reference them when the concept comes up. The classes helped me to get an A in the first semester and start out very strong in the second semester. I feel like I have a really strong understanding of the concepts because of the class. Overall, the class is extremely beneficial, and as long as you pay full attention and take good notes, you successful. - Student (R.), Homestead High School
Dr. Surbhi is an amazing tutor who always wishes the best for all of her students. AP Chem is a difficult subject and I was struggling so much at school that I was about to give up. After taking her classes, I was catch up and get ahead. Dr. Surbhi teaches the concepts before school so that you will have an easier time with school work. She also is very caring and will take any questions on private messages and even set up a one on one session if you request. Because she also records classes and sends them to her students, you can also catch up on any missed classes by watching those. The classes are a great environment and everyone is free to ask questions for clarification. However you should know that just taking the classes isn’t enough. Dr. Surbhi always reminds us that she can’t do the practice for us! It is your responsibility to do practice problems, but she does provide a Google Classroom with tons of material including real AP questions and other worksheets. These worksheets are extremely helpful and a way to improve your understanding and practice for great test results. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Surbhi as a AP Chem tutor and I am so thankful for her help. - Student (M.), Homestead High School
Ms. Surbhi has been so helpful to me throughout the year, and the classes and resources that she provides have been extremely helpful. Ms. Surbhi explains concepts very clearly and she always tries to include everyone in lectures and class discussions. She also has numerous worksheets, lessons, and previous class' recordings that are available to us at any time that have been so useful to look back on for review and practice. When I have a hard time understanding concepts in school, I rewatch the recordings of that lesson, and that usually clears up any confusion I've had. I highly recommend utilizing all the worksheets provided. Even if you are confident in the topic, it doesn't hurt to get extra practice. She truly cares about each and every one of her students' success, and always makes sure that we are doing well in and out of school, and I am so grateful to have her as a teacher. - Student (T.), Irvington High School
In my first semester of taking Chemistry Honors at my school, I felt lost and disconnected from the class. My test scores were below average, and by the time I took the final exam, I had lost all hope and it felt like a gamble to get a good grade. However, from the moment I joined Dr. Surbhi's class in the 2nd semester, my understanding of chemistry has completely changed. Last semester, my chemistry grade was the lowest out of all my classes. This year, it is my highest. I've never been interested in any aspect of chemistry my whole life, but Dr. Surbhi's teaching has changed that. The resources that she provides such as videos, practice problems, tests, and guides are well worth it. It is clear that she cares about students, and she is always willing to answer any questions when they come up. I'm grateful for her support, and if there's any advice I would give to future students, know that it is never too late to improve! - Student (M.), American High School
Ms. Surbhi is one of the most hard-working and dedicated teachers I have ever come across. She will do anything to make sure her students are working and understanding the material in the class. She goes above and beyond with her assignments. She doesn’t just make homework assignments and tests, she creates numerous amounts of study guides, slides, practice tests, etc. Throughout this year it has been a joy learning from Ms. Surbhi because she also goes out of her way to make chemistry lectures fun and engaging. - Student (A.), Lynbrook High School
Taking classes with Surbhi is very flexible. If I have other commitments or a test coming up I am always able to catch up on the material by watching the recordings of the sessions. Ms. Surbhi is also very responsive. If I text her a question she always responds in a few minutes or a few hours max. The lessons are also very engaging as Ms. Surbhi asks everyone to solve questions or to explain the reasoning behind certain processes. The content, as well as the homework taught in class, is very relevant to high schools in the bay area such as Monta Vista and Cupertino. On the slight off chance, a student’s school is going over a topic that isn’t usually covered Ms.Surbhi always makes time to go over and explain the topic so that everyone can excel in their school Chemistry courses. If I had to describe Ms.Surbhi’s classes in one word it would be adaptable. - Student (O.), Cupertino High School
Ms. Surbhi’s Jain classes were very beneficial. We always learned the concepts ahead of our schools which helped me review before my tests. She is a great teacher and she helped me become a better student by giving me many helpful tips on how to be successful in chemistry as well as other subjects. Some helpful study tips to be successful in her class and chemistry are to take detailed notes in her class all the time; these notes will be helpful for school and all the tests. Another important thing is, to always do the homework assigned; the homework she assigns is always like the actual tests and this will help you better understand the concept. The last tip is to never procrastinate; if you procrastinate in chemistry, you will be lost as there are many new concepts introduced every day and it will get harder to catch up if you keep procrastinating. I would recommend this class to everyone who is planning on taking Chemistry Honors. I took this class and I didn't have chemistry honors in my school but this class helped me prepare for Ap Chemistry without me being in chemistry honors at school. So definitely take this class if you want to go in chemistry honors and/or Ap chemistry. - Student (J.), American High School
Taking AP Chemistry classes with Surbhi Maam was a game-changer for me. Learning ahead and being well-prepared for each class helped me excel in the subject and achieve great success in school. The depth and breadth of the course material were made manageable thanks to Mrs Jain's organized and comprehensive teaching style. For future juniors planning to take AP Chemistry, my advice would be to stay on top of the material, ask questions, and take advantage of all the resources available to you. Ms. Surbhi's classes have helped me not only help me be physically prepared to solve all of the AP problems, but also helped me be emotionally prepared. She always covers every concept thoroughly and provides resources for every practice problem imaginable, so every detail is covered for each unit. She does not hesitate to answer a question that I have and is always there when I need extra help. For success tips for juniors, I would recommend using all of the resources given whether that is videos, notes, and problems. It is good to do all of these as everyone learns differently and one method might work better than another. Taking her course has made me more comfortable and confident about AP Chem.- Student (D.), Harker
Ms. Surbhi is an extremely hardworking teacher and will take any step to ensure that you do good in school chemistry. From personal experience, I have a really hard chemistry teacher in my school, and Ms. Surbhi understands that. She is always texting me to make sure how I am doing in school and offers me so much help outside of her class to ensure I am prepared as much as possible. You can talk to her anytime and she will respond to anything you ask. I highly recommend Ms. Surbhi if you want to find a reliable chemistry tutor who cares a lot about her students. - Student (S.), Mission San Jose High School
Ms. Surbhi's classes have been extremely helpful to me, they allow me to better understand and grasp the concepts before we actually do them in class. This always gives me ample time to review what we're learning in class and lets me be better prepared for the tests. Some success tips I would give to future students would be to learn how to budget your time, as it's an essential skill to have if you are taking on any difficult subjects. Ms. Surbhi's classes make reviewing before tests much easier, letting you spend less time on learning the concepts and more on practicing & reviewing. These classes are incredibly helpful to anyone planning on taking honors or AP-level chemistry courses in school. - Student (A.), American High School
I have been taking Honors Chemistry with Ms. Surbhi since June 2022, and she is such a dedicated teacher who truly wants to spark a passion for chemistry in her students. Ms. Surbhi's classes helped me gain exposure to the concepts before school started, especially the summer classes. When school began, I already knew the concepts that we were learning because of the summer classes. Ms. Surbhi's recordings and worksheets were also valuable study materials when I was preparing for exams. However, we switched curriculums and started learning about climate change in the middle of first semester. I used the questions given in the book as well as various worksheets from the internet. For study methods, I made study guides and used active recall to memorize concepts. For students, my main tip for success in chemistry is to keep reviewing earlier concepts and make sure that they don't fall behind. Chemistry focuses a lot on building concepts, so if they don't understand basic topics, it will be impossible to grasp more high-level concepts. Also, doing a lot of practice (balancing, empirical formula, stoichiometry, etc.) helps develop an understanding of the concept and allows the student to recall the topic accurately in the future. I highly recommend Ms. Surbhi's classes to anyone who is taking Honors or AP Chemistry because she is a fantastic teacher and I learned so much from her class! - Student (I.), Mission San Jose High School
Dr. Surbhi's AP Chemistry class is an eye-opener and a must-have resource when taking AP Chemistry at school. Chemistry is one of my favorite subjects, but previously, I found that my teachers at school were not really providing me with the resources I needed to actually learn the subject. I found it hard to take chem tests at school without being taught in a way that is personalized to me and my learning style. When I started learning from Dr. Surbhi, for the first time, I felt safe and uplifted; I learned to believe in my learning abilities. I had access to one-on-one help via WhatsApp and was able to text her whenever I had a question. I started to enjoy chemistry again, and it's all because of my amazing teacher.
To succeed in AP Chemistry through Ms. Surbhi's classes, here are some important tips:
1. Make sure you take notes on all her content and do ALL the practice problems (videos, worksheets, study guides, everything on her organized Google Classroom, etc). Ms. Surbhi records all her class lectures so that we can go back anytime and clarify anything we might have missed during the class. If we do have a question on any of the content, we can always ask her on WhatsApp and she will promptly respond.
2. Don't be scared to ask questions. Chances are someone will have the same question as you. Asking questions is how you learn and build a good relationship with her.
3. Practice, practice, practice! Make sure you do as many AP MCQs and FRQs as possible; the good news is that you don't have to scavenge for these resources, she has it all laid out for you. Make use of these resources to study and you will definitely be able to grasp all the concepts in AP Chemistry.
4. Have fun, and don't give up! AP Chemistry is meant to be a subject you enjoy, not stress over. Ms. Surbhi always has your back throughout this process, so believe in yourself and don't procrastinate.- Student (A.T.), Moreau Catholic High School
To all upcoming AP Chem students, I highly recommend taking online classes with Ms. Surbhi. Apart from being a great teacher, she is constantly trying to bring out the best in her students. Her exceptional teaching skills will definitely bring you success in this course, but I advise you to take notes during the lecture. Also, AP Chem is not hard, all it takes is practice. Ms. Surbhi provides us with so many problems, and if you are dedicated enough to succeeding, you should do as many as possible in order to clear your concepts and also do well in school. Ms. Surbhi will also always be there for you when you need help. No matter what time I text her asking for help on a problem, she always responds as quickly as possible and provides me with a very thorough answer. One last piece of advice: AP Chem is not hard, as long as you make sure you are solid with Chem Honors material, and you are willing to do a considerable amount of practice problems. I’m not saying to discard your social life, but be willing to stay up later at night or wake up early and do some problems: it will all be worth it in the end. Lastly, you must understand that every single topic in AP Chem builds off the previous, so you CANNOT afford to be shaky on any previous material. For example, something as simple as dissolving salt in water is as complex as dissolution, bonding, atomic size, ion attraction, dipoles, IMFs, and even solubility equilibrium. - Student (T.), American High School
When I became a sophomore at my high school, I chose Chemistry Honors as my next science course and was very nervous due to all the rumors of the rigor/difficulty of the class, and they were all true. The workload was incredibly tedious and time-consuming, and the material increased in complexity as the units progressed. However, with the aid of Ms. Surbhi, my experience was much better as she helped me understand all the concepts beforehand with her resources and lessons. I started the class with solid 90- 100% marks on my tests with her help and felt much more comfortable with the topics as I practiced her homework assignments and practice tests. While a teacher can provide all the resources and assistance possible, most of one's grade is determined by how much time and effort is put into the class and how well one studies the material. It is crucial to mention that this class requires a strong background in algebra, the ability to quickly remember many formulas, complex vocabulary, and, most importantly, the ability to think and learn independently. To succeed in this class, I would highly recommend doing the following:
Always take daily notes on what the teacher says and what they cover that day. (pay attention to the teacher as they may say something that could be included on the test, but they will never repeat that information)
Make sure to have a consistent studying schedule for this class (a bare minimum of 5 minutes, but I recommend 30 minutes to an hour per day, and I am not including homework as studying)
Don't be afraid to talk to your peers and teachers for assistance.
Utilize the internet to find solutions to your questions as well.
Make sure to understand any concepts for a test 3 days beforehand.
Stay ahead of the class (go ahead of the material covered if you have the time).
Do not fall behind in this class. It will take some effort to catch up as the material is very dense.
Be persistent, be confident, and always try your best. - Student (A.), Mission San Jose High School
From the very first session, I knew I was in good hands. I joined Ms. Surbhi's class the summer before sophomore year in preparation for honors chemistry. From the beginning, you could tell she was very passionate about teaching her students and about chemistry as a subject. She is a very patient and kind teacher, ensuring that all students understand from the bottom up. She is determined to make sure all her students end with an A grade and she will schedule extra 1 on 1 classes if needed. In my school chemistry class, we began doing some unrelated Earth sciences content and Ms. Surbhi met with me outside of our regular class time to make sure I was understanding the content even though it was not chemistry. Within her own class, she will always prepare plenty of extra practice sheets which are extremely helpful for test preparation. A lot of the time, I would not be able to make it to class and instead would watch the class recording. Although, I found it just as helpful. Her classes are very in-depth and detailed. If I ever have any questions, I can text her on WhatsApp and will get a response immediately. Ms. Surbhi is an amazing teacher who puts in tons of time to make sure her students are understanding the foundations of chemistry and are doing well in school. Because of her teaching, I have enjoyed chemistry much more as a subject and am planning to take AP chemistry in my junior year. - Student (A.J.), Irvington High School
Ms Surbhi is an exceptional teacher that covers every concept that's coming up in the AP Chemistry test itself and is on par with the school curriculum. Even if you aren't able to do the homework because of time constraints, make sure to refer to the Big Concept Packets (which is usually a slideshow) of everything that you need to do. She's dedicated to her work and will make sure to help you out, so don't be afraid to ask questions when you need to. If you're confused clear it up earlier on, rather than keeping it for later, that way you can actively participate in her practices. Take notes during her class when possible so that you can retain the knowledge that she gives you! I really appreciate her demeanor and her willingness to help. She's flexible and won't make you feel chained to her class and assignments, which I appreciate as someone who doesn't have much time. I've been doing great in AP Chemistry thanks to her, and it's easier to pick up concepts since she covers them early on. She's very sweet and I can't thank her enough, definitely recommend Chemistry Honors and/or AP Chemistry students to have her by their side! - Student (H.D.), Cupertino High School
Mrs. Jain's classes helped me understand topics before they showed up in my class. This way when they did show up all I had to do was review. One tip is to look at Mrs, Jain's materials before your test. I like how she puts all the main points so it is easier to look through and find topics you need to practice. - Student (A.), Milpitas High School
Dr.Surbhi's class has really made AP Chem fun, and not too challenging at school. AP Chemistry is a difficult course because the student has to maintain knowledge from previous chapters, not just for the AP test, but for the general coursework as well. Dr.Surbhi allows us as students to not only not get rusty, but also challenges us with questions that often require us to think outside of the box and very cumulatively. The most important thing in my opinion, is the confidence that Dr.Subhi's class gives the students. For me personally, I know I can walk into class or any test and know that what I've been taught is what I can expect to see in class, or on the test.- Student (E.C.), Cupertino High School
Ms Surbhi’s classes were really beneficial to my learning. In the beginning I used to go to her sessions each week and then began to use her recorded lectures in an offline mode. I found that referring to her lectures whenever I needed to, especially when my teacher was teaching that unit was really helpful and efficient. The practice worksheets Ms. Surbhi provided were really detailed and helped me strengthen my concepts before a test. I’m also grateful that I was always able to text Ms. Surbhi any question or doubt I had in my class and she immediately responded. Some success tips for juniors would be to ask a lot of questions to their teachers because that shows interest in the subject and helps them clarify their own doubts. Also study in advance everyday rather than sitting the night before a test. Thank you Ms. Surbhi for all the help! - Student (N.), Irvington High School
Ms.Surbhi Jain is a great chemistry tutor and has helped me learn the concepts 2 months ahead of time. She offers help through WhatsApp for support and assigns lots of practice worksheets. Spend at least 2 hours each week studying for chemistry and you will definitely ace your class at school. - Student (S.R.), American High School
When I signed up for honors chemistry my sophomore year, I didn’t know what to expect as I had never taken a chemistry class before. During the first semester, the concepts weren’t clicking in my mind, and there was a clear disconnect in my understanding of chemistry. This caused me unnecessary stress, and I found myself trying to maintain a letter grade instead of learning. Toward the end of my first semester, I first met Dr. Surbhi for the first time through the recommendation of one of my cousins. Since I started taking her classes, I began to understand chemistry conceptually, and most of my stress from my honors chemistry class was uplifted. She went out of her way to ensure I understood the material and was prepared to perform well in my class. Whenever I needed help, whether with a small homework assignment or a chemistry lab, Dr. Surbhi would always make the time to answer my questions through WhatsApp. We would sometimes even schedule 1 on 1 classes outside of the weekly group classes so that I could review for my upcoming exams. During my second semester of honors chemistry, I actually began to look forward to my chemistry classes in school, and my grades improved. Dr. Surbhi made the information very palatable for everyone through her style of teaching and sets students up for success through her endless practice (on Google Classrooms) and support she provides for her students. After finishing honors chemistry and taking AP Chemistry as a junior, I still take Dr. Surbhi’s chemistry classes which have helped me develop a genuine interest in chemistry. As Dr. Surhbi started the AP Chem classes in the summer before the year started, a majority of the information I learn in class are already concepts Dr. Surbhi has taught me, making the class feel less overwhelming. Especially with a class such as AP Chemistry, which requires a deep level of comprehension, Ms. Surbhi’s practice tests, practice problems, and homework, she provides with feedback ensures a solid foundation of understanding and confidence for the subject. On top of that, she provides students with a list of very helpful key topics from each unit, which greatly helps with preparation for the AP exam and overall cumulative knowledge. Even though the class is difficult, Ms. Surbhi’s class allows students to understand difficult concepts and prepares us very well for the AP exam. Not only does she teach students the information, but she also instills essential study habits in students. Through taking her class, I’ve developed more organized note-taking abilities and a thorough study routine, which I also use in other classes. My advice for future students would be to consistently engage in the classes by taking notes and to utilize all the resources available on google classroom. Ms. Surbhi’s classes have greatly impacted my academic success in high school. I ended both semesters of Honors Chemistry and my only semester so far for Ap Chemistry with an A. - Student (P.J.), Moreau Catholic High School
Ms. Surbhi's AP class helped me greatly! AP Chemistry can be a difficult course and is also cumulative; hence, keeping up with and remembering all the content throughout the year is extremely important. Ms. Surbhi helps a lot with making the hard concepts easy to understand through exciting examples and practice problems. In addition to the practice covered in class, Ms. Surbhi also provides a lot of resources on google classroom. It's great to go back and revisit previous chapters or practice for an upcoming test using them. Additionally, in junior year, time is the greatest asset as students are juggling numerous AP Classes, standardized testing, and extracurriculars. I love Ms. Surbhi's classes as you can plan out when to watch the class's recording according to your own schedule. You can also revisit previous recordings to work on specific concepts if needed. Furthermore, whenever you have any questions, Ms. Surbhi is there to help! I'm grateful for all her help and support which led me to get an A in the class. - Student (N.N.), Washington High School
Dr. Surbhi works hard to make sure that her students are prepared for a test. All classes are recorded so that students may replay the video as many times as needed to fully grasp concepts. This is extremely helpful in a tough class such as AP Chemistry. On top of this, Dr. Surbhi provides countless resources and practice problems, giving students the opportunity to practice and excel on tests. If you ever have a burning question, you can expect a timely, clear response from Dr. Surbhi. Dr. Surbhi is a supportive, encouraging, and inspirational teacher that brings out the best in each student, acting as a catalyst for students to overcome the daunting activation barrier of AP Chemistry and take the reaction to completion: success! - Student (C.W), Homestead High School
To Mrs. Surbhi's future/existing students, AP Chem is a tough course. It requires a deep understanding of numerous topics which will all be tested in the beginning of May on the AP exam. The main way to succeed in this course and do well at the end of the year is through retaining concepts and building good study habits. And luckily for you Mrs. Surbhi will guide you to accomplish both of those! The various resources she provides in her google classrooms have essentially everything you can ask for. She provides key concept lists for each chapter which help guide your studying and recap the main takeaways for each chapter. Along with this, the practice problems she has cover nearly every type of problem you can encounter. And I definitely recommend doing as many of them as possible or at least look at them because a lot of times these are similar to the ones you will see on your tests, if not the exact same. Along with this, Mrs. Surbhi has improved my study habits throughout the year as I've begun taking better, succinct notes to help build retention when learning. It has helped my work ethic overall, not just in Chem. However, there will still be obstacles you face. There will be times where you feel like you have no clue what's going on. You may feel demotivated when learning difficult concepts. But that's exactly why you're in Mrs. Surbhi's class! She's there to help you and is easily approachable. She's more than happy to answer your questions and will respond to text messages very quickly. Building a strong relationship with her will help tremendously and is 100% worth it. - Student (A.), Cupertino High School
One of the best things I have done for myself this year was enrolling in Dr. Jain's classes. Dr. Jain's lectures have been instrumental in my success in AP Chemistry. Before starting her class, I was struggling to get a test grade over 80%. After I enrolled, I have never scored lower than a 90%. Dr. Jain's lectures are easy to understand, thorough, and covers more than what needed to do well in AP chemistry. She is also very responsive. Wherever I had any questions about problems I did not understand, Dr. Jain would help me work through them. Her classes were engaging and she gave us a lot of practice problems which were very helpful. I got an A in my AP Chemistry class thanks to her class.
If I were to give any advice to any future students it would be to make sure to take notes during Dr. Jain's lectures and do the extra practice problems. It really helps. - Student (M.P.), Homestead High School
AP Chemistry is quite a challenging class. It requires students to make an unfathomable number of connections between various topics and involves a great level of conceptual understanding. Ms. Surbhi’s teaching greatly assisted me in learning chemistry. Her classes provide reinforcement which helps me remember the chapter better. That way, when I go to school and the teacher teaches something new, I am less likely to be completely clueless when compared to my classmates. Since AP Chemistry is such a rigorous course, teachers tend to teach at a fast pace and don’t always give their students enough time to absorb the material. Ms. Surbhi’s classes and homework give students the chance to be exposed to new material so they can quickly comprehend new concepts at school. - Student (K.P.), American High School
Taking Ms.Surbhi's AP class was honestly one of the best decisions I have ever made regarding my academics. Her class is really helpful in many ways. The main factor was that we started learning the curriculum in the summer, which gave me a head-start in the class in school. I was confident going into the class every day. I took chemistry honors as a sophomore and ended with a B, so I was pretty hesitant about AP Chemistry but taking her class really boosted my confidence. After taking her class I started doing good on my tests and ended with an A first semester in my AP Chemistry class. Some tips for future students: 1) Take notes: Even though it may seem like a lot, taking notes in a separate notebook helped plenty. I could revisit them when I had tests and was way more efficient than just sitting and listening in class. It might be hard to get down everything on paper, but try your best to write down the key points that Ms.Jain points out. 2) Review and use resources: Since most of the resources are online I could access them at my own pace. To get more practice I recommend doing the google form quizzes and the old AP questions. Ms.Surbhi has a plethora of resources, so use them to your advantage either for studying or reviewing before tests. Lastly, just have fun with the subject, it may seem too much at first, but it will get better if you put in effort and time. - Student (S.C.), Cupertino High School
I highly recommend Ms. Surbhi Jain for her exceptional teaching skills, dedication to her students, and passion for the subject. She simplified complex concepts, was patient and encouraging, and made learning fun. In addition to her exceptional teaching skills, Ms. Jain's recorded lecture videos were invaluable in helping me prepare for exams and review material. Her commitment to her students and dedication to the subject is unmatched, and I'm grateful for the positive impact she's had on my academic success. - Student (P.), Amador Valley High School
The chemistry class remained ahead of my High school curriculum. I utilized the online class recordings and numerous supplemental class handouts. By doing your class homework, it helped me save time in school. Watching your videos were very beneficial because they were very in depth on the specific topics I learn in school. The supplemental homeworks were also really helpful because it provided added support to nail in topics and really understand each subject which assisted in my tests in school. Without this class, I don't think I would have understood the subjects as deeply and would be much harder to get help in areas I didn't understand because I couldn't ask you questions leading to a lower grade. The HW and practice tests were right around the same rigor as my school work as they were both around the same level of difficulty. Succes tips - Supplemental problems can never be inadequate, Check in with Dr. Surbhi, Review previous chemistry videos, Don’t be afraid to ask questions - Student (E.W.), Palo Alto High
Ms. Surbhi's class was incredibly helpful! While learning ahead of school does take some extra work, I would say that it's entirely worth it. At school they often go very fast, making it difficult to properly build concepts which is essential if you plan on taking the AP version down the road. Not only did Ms. Surbhi's class make chemistry at school easy (she's very organized and makes sure that all topics are covered beforehand in her sessions), but I came to enjoy the subject because of her classes! It usually takes around 40 minutes per week to do the homework, which I find to be very reasonable, especially if spread out over multiple days. Ms. Surbhi also gives feedback/helps you via messages/emails outside of class time, on both her homework and school topics.
Some Key Tips:
1) Do the HW: Although the HW may feel difficult at times, it's definitely worth the extra time, so try to complete it every week. If you miss some weeks, at least read the questions, try to understand how to solve it, and check the answer keys, which have full explanations. Another benefit of doing the homework on time every week is that Ms. Surbhi gives explanations for every mistake you make, explaining exactly where you went wrong, which was extremely helpful for me.
2) Write notes in class: This is probably the number one thing I did in Ms. Surbhi's class that helped me in school. When she gives lectures, take notes. Write down key points, solved examples, explanations, anything that will help you later on. Before doing the homework, go back and review your notes. Every week, before the next class, I highlight the important things in my notes as a way of reviewing. If you can't manage to get everything down during class, go back to the class recording (it's available every week) and finish the parts you couldn't write during class. I personally do this every week, and being able to go back to my notes when they cover the topic in school makes a huge difference.
3) Don't let confusing topics accumulate: You have to be able to keep yourself on track every week. Ms. Surbhi's class is very reasonable, and you don't need huge amounts of work to ensure your success. You just need to be willing to put in enough work to make sure that you understand each week's topic that same week. For me, some weeks, that meant no extra work. Other times, I had to review most of the recording even after being in class because I was confused and felt like I needed it. Do what it takes to understand the topic at that time. Otherwise, topics you don't understand will build up and you'll start to feel lost. If you really understand the concept (instead of just memorizing it) in Ms. Surbhi's class, you'll find that chemistry at school is much, much easier!
I'm a sophomore at Monta Vista and had 7 classes this year: Algebra 2/Trigonometry, World Studies Literature, World Studies History, Teacher Assistant for Java, Pe, Spanish 2, and Chemistry Honors. My grade in Chem Honors for the first semester was a 96.2%, and I got a 100% (without curve) on the Semester 1 Final. - Student (I.), Monta Vista High
I took chemistry my sophomore year, and then AP Chemistry my senior year. Because of the one-year gap, I was worried that I wouldn’t be prepared for AP Chemistry. During the summer, Ms. Surbhi’s class was very helpful in preparing me for the AP class by reinforcing foundational concepts and introducing some new concepts to get a headstart. I appreciate that Ms. Surbhi checks in on me and is always available to message. I did not attend live sessions, but her resources and videos were still there if I ever needed them. - Student (J.O.), Carlmont High School
I took 8 courses during the school year (1 AP taken from outside), with an A in chemistry honors. Learning ahead made me able to prioritize my studying time to other extracurricular activities, like computer science and DECA. I would say that some success tips are definitely to study ahead of time, and never give up on your grades, as it is never too late. Also, try bargaining with your teachers for round ups, and certain grades. Don't be afraid to argue for the grade you believe that you deserve.- Student (D.K.), Irvington High
The chemistry classes really helped me. They helped me understand all the concepts covered in school, and all the practice problems were also valuable. I was able to manage well with the classes. The classes were essential for me to bring up my grade in the class. In the end, I got an A in both semesters. Success tips for juniors: 1. Always believe in yourself. It is always possible to learn new things and grasp difficult concepts with time and practice. Even if you are struggling in certain areas, do not let that discourage you. 2. Don’t cram for tests. Study concepts outside of school as you learn them. This will help with grasping concepts faster, and it will make it less stressful when you’re reviewing the day before the test. 3. Finally, enjoy what you’re doing. Try to find something that you enjoy in all your subjects. This will help keep a positive attitude while you’re studying, and it ultimately increases your productivity. (Ex. I started to like all the different applications of what I was studying in chemistry. This kept me happy while I was studying, and made me want to study even more. In the end, I had a lot of fun taking my AP exam. I was not at all stressed, and it was a great experience.) Make sure to take detailed notes on everything you learn, make timetables, and prioritize on all your assignments and activities. - Student (A.M.), Cupertino High
There is no doubt that Ms. Surbhi is the best tutor I have ever had or seen. She personally spends time with each student and is extremely dedicated to making the concepts of everyone clean. She is an excellent teacher and will re-explain the topic a hundred times if someone doesn't understand something. She is extremely responsive in clarifying any doubts. The lessons and homework provided helped in making my concepts stronger and not only that they teach a student self-discipline. The learnings I had in Ms. Surbhi's class were not only bound to chemistry but life-long skills as well. I cannot express my gratitude towards Ms. Surbhi would highly recommend her. - Student (T.), Irvington High
Hello Ms. Jain, I received my score and I got a 5 in AP Chemistry. Thank you so much for the bootcamps and the various frq and mcq problem sets. It was very helpful and I learned a lot from them. On the ap exam, I was able to finish the mcq pretty quickly but the frq section was a little more difficult but still doable. Thank you!! Sincerely - Student (K.), Silver Creek High School
Ms. Surbhi's chem classes were quite honestly the only thing that kept me on top of my chemistry class this year. In a school like CHS, where all classes (especially science!) are very fast-paced, having both the advantage of starting the curriculum early as well as Ms. Surbhi's teaching was very beneficial. Advantages of starting early-on include: understanding the basics of chemistry before class, which allows you to take the in-class learning experience as more of a review than a first experience with the topic; being on top of homework, so taking notes and finishing practice problems can be done in no time, giving you more time to study for tests; and making it easier to keep up with the speed of teaching at school. For students taking Chem Honors in the coming year or in the future, I would highly recommend:
1) Keep a separate notebook for your school chemistry class & for Ms. Surbhi's class. It helps you stay organized on which topics you're learning in each class.
2) Reread your notes!! It is very easy to take notes, but the whole purpose of these notes is to make sure you know what you're writing down, and the only way to do that is to revise.
3) Don't leave anything until the last minute. Everything moves very quickly in these chem classes and it'll feel like you don't even have time to catch your breath. The best way to remedy this is to finish practice problems, notes, hw quizzes, etc. as soon as you get them. That way you learn the material early-on and you finish the busywork quickly too.
Generally, I think that Ms. Surbhi's class was one of the most helpful things I can imagine for this particular course, and you would be doing yourself a favor by taking it! - Student (A.), Cupertino High School
Tenth grade chemistry was like a boat ride for me. The first semester I didn’t understand my teacher from school, I didn’t understand the lectures, I was completely lost, and helpless. I jumped into a test without knowing my materials, like a sailor who jumped into the sea without knowing how to sail. Second semester was smooth sailing. Ms. Surbhi helped me understand the concept, how to apply the concept, answer the questions, and helped me prepare for the test. My grade with Ms. Surbhi’s guidance went from an F to a B! Without Ms. Surbhi, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this. One of my biggest challenge was having a very teacher who teaches terribly. My teacher taught very vaguely, explained unclearly, and expects ton from the students. Not only me, but a lot of my classmates could barely understand a thing from what we had learned from school. Many of us got a bad grade and had to do many retakes. Ms. Surbhi’s lectures were intuitive, clear, and explained the subject in great depth and detail. It was Ms. Surbhi’s teaching that helped me understand and get a good grade. I didn’t get none of this from my school teacher. Before I finally found Ms. Surbhi, I had many tutors, but none of them helped me with my challenges. Ms. Surbhi, on the other hand, is very knowledgeable, experienced, organized, and she is always on top of everything. It is embarrassing for me to say that she is more organized than I was. She knew exactly what material my teacher was going to teach and even in what order. And she is always reachable and willing to help. She gave me one on one lessons on short notice and she gave me quick advice on WhatsApp messages. I didn’t take her group classes, but instead studied by watching her lecture recordings on my own. I loved Ms. Surbhi offered this learning option because it really benefited me and I strongly believe it will benefit who are just like me that prefer their own learning speed than a group setting. Watching recordings on my own allowed me to pause and repeat to the part that I had did not understand and listened to it again and again until I was ready to move forward. In my opinion, the most challenging part of chemistry was truly understanding the concept and memorizing formulas and how and where to use them. Ms. Surbhi’s lectures, slides, notes, and worksheets helped me overcome these challenges. Ms. Surbhi’s tricks on memorization is not forceful but making sense. The way Ms. Surbhi explains and puts immaterial together is organized. Ms. Surbhi’s teaching not only covers the subject in great detail, but also emphasizes the important topics that will be mostly tested on. My tips on how to succeed in chemistry is studying ahead of time, chemistry requires hard work, chemistry needs to be practiced everyday, and staying organized. My advice it take Ms. Surbhi’s summer classes so when the schools starts you are already on top of the game. Practice a lot with Ms. Surbhi’s worksheets. In brief summary, from my own personal experience, I would recommend Ms. Surbhi and her tutoring to any students who do not have the support from school, have a hard time to grasp the concept, and desire to get a good grade. - Student (S.), American High School
This class was one of the best tutoring classes I have ever taken. Mrs. Surbhi is a great teacher who actively engages with her students and makes sure each and every one of them is prepared to take chemistry in school. Being ahead helped me finish my school homework 5x faster, spend less time preparing for tests, get a deeper understanding of the topics, and score higher on every school test. There have been numerous times when I would not have found answers to my questions if I didn't have the help of this class. Some tips for people going into chemistry are always memorizing definitions from the book no matter how small they look and doing as many practice problems as possible. Additionally, never slack off thinking you are fully prepared in chemistry, or else you will regret it when you didn't pay attention when a complicated topic comes in school. - Student (T.), Irvington High
When I was in the 10th grade I took 6 courses in school including chemistry. I was struggling because my teacher refused to teach us and instead told us to open the book and take notes. Then we would have hard exams where the class average on the exam would be about 45%. Ms Surbhi's classes were helpful because she explained the concepts in simple ways which were so easy to remember! For me, I really started studying for exams in advance to survive my classes and manage my clubs without being overwhelmed. My tips for success are these: 1) review chemistry everyday, I know it’s hard but it is super helpful! 2) make notes on questions or concepts you don’t understand and ask Ms Surbhi! 3) learn how to time manage well on exams so you can finish on time! - Student (S.), Silver Creek High
Hello Ms. Surbhi, You are a phenomenal teacher and I want to thank you for the help you gave me while I was in your class. My AP test went very well. I had no questions where I was confused. Thank you for everything! As for success tips for the juniors, I would say that the more work and practice that you put in really shapes your skill at chemistry. - Student (P.), American High
Joining Ms. Surbhi’s class helped me immensely! I was struggling with chemistry honors at my school because it was so fast paced and our teacher didn’t clearly go over all the topics so I was very confused during the tests and I needed a lot of help. Once I joined Ms. Surbhi’s class, I started doing a lot better and I started getting A’s on all of my tests. When I wasn’t in Ms. Surbhi’s class, I got a B, but I got an A this semester because her class really helped me grasp new concepts and she had a very interactive teaching style that made it easy to learn the new topics. I definitely recommend future students taking chemistry honors or AP chemistry to join Ms. Surbhi’s class because joining her class allowed me to learn concepts much quicker and I got higher scores on all the tests! - Student (A.), Lynbrook High
Prior to this class, I was struggling in AP Chemistry and didn’t know how to study for the class. The concepts were confusing and no matter how many videos I watched, I wasn’t doing well in understanding the material or taking the tests. Ms Surbhi helped me better understand chemistry and gave lots of resources to help practice for the class, which helped me to succeed and manage to get As in both semesters. I highly recommend this class. - Student (A.), Amador Valley High
Ms. Surbhi is one of the best tutors i’ve had! She teaches at a fast pace, makes sure her students understand, and goes very in depth into concepts. Loved having her! - Student (S.), Moreau Catholic High, Hayward
I had started AP Chemistry at school and my first couple tests I had failed them. I tried getting outside help but it wasn’t really helping me. Finally, my mom found Ms.Surbhi on Facebook and enrolled me in her sessions. The first time I talked to Ms.Surbhi, she called me and went over the last test I took and explained what was wrong with my test and the questions. Even in that one phone call I learned more than I did in a week at school. Ms.Surbhi is an excellent teacher and really cares about her students understanding the concepts. She provided informational slides and explained them better than any AP Daily video. Along with the lectures, the practice problems she gives us help really solidify the understanding. I have had some questions Ms.Surbhi asked me to show up on my tests at school. The only regret I have is that I didn’t take Ms.Surbhi’s classes sooner. After failing my first tests, I managed to start getting 100% on my quizzes and tests and I couldn’t have done it without Ms.Surbhi’s help. Everytime I tell Ms.Surbhi about my school results she always offers kind and encouraging words. Her google classroom has a variety of materials and worksheets with past AP exam questions and I do all of them before my test. If I have any questions, Ms.Surbhi always generously offers time outside to talk to her, which is something not a lot of teachers would offer to do. I really enjoy learning chemistry but it was hard to enjoy something that I wasn’t very good at but after taking Ms.Surbhi’s classes, I began to see a progress in my grades and interest. I would definitely recommend Ms.Surbhi’s classes because she is an exceptional person and teacher. - Student (A.), Presentation High School
To be honest, Ms. Surbhi’s lessons entail a lot of additional work. She sends us a large amount of homework and extra practice, sometimes adding up to several hours of work a week. However, I’ve found that taking the time to do this additional practice has been incredibly beneficial, even if I just completed one worksheet or a few problems to study before a test at school. The rigor of Ms. Surbhi’s practice tests and assignments are higher than that of most teachers’ curriculums, so her students don’t have to worry when it comes to their school work and the AP exam. Ms. Surbhi covers every topic thoroughly and takes the time to help you out when you need extra help. She is an amazingly passionate and sincere instructor and I highly recommend her to any student looking to earn high grades in their school classes and a good score on their AP exam. Three most important success tips for juniors: 1. For both your personal fulfillment and for college applications, choose just a few extracurriculars you are truly passionate about and stick with them. 2. For chemistry, it is incredibly important to constantly review past material. Many people consider AP Chemistry to be the most difficult class they’ve ever taken and in many cases, this is due to the large breadth of material covered in just a few months. 3. Don’t force yourself to do more than you can handle. Know your limits and set aside a sufficient amount of every day for recreation to avoid burnout. I’ve really had to work on limiting the time I spend on recreation. Even if it’s just one fewer hour a day spent on television, you will find that making an active effort to manage your schedule makes a huge impact on your everyday life. In addition, I’ve had to decide which extracurriculars I truly value and which ones would be best to eliminate from my schedule. In my case, I had to quit my art classes because they continually conflicted with my club events and nonprofit work. While I truly love painting and am decently skilled at it, I decided that dropping out of art classes to make time for my other activities was the best choice for my lifestyle. Through this experience, I finally agreed with what every adult has been telling me my entire life: it’s better to excel at a few activities than to be mediocre in many. - Student (P.), Irvington High
AP Chemistry was incredibly tough starting out, however, after only 3 weeks of working with Ms Surbhi, I noticed a rise in my grade and the rate at which I was able to pick up information had significantly increased. Ms Surbhi's unique teaching style of a fasted paced lesson with surprise questions kept me and my classmates on my toes and ready to answer any questions regardless of the concepts that they covered. For part of my time, I was an offline student where Ms Surbhi would send me the videos of the lesson that I had missed. This would help me see when and where the mistakes were being made as she would go over every question, and the recording would allow me to retrace my steps in the concepts that I struggled with. Overall, Ms Surbhi's lessons are what allowed me to focus all of my efforts on chemistry. - Student (A.), Washington High
I joined Ms. Surbhi's class pretty late in the school year but I still benefited from all of her help. She answered all my questions offline with thorough explanations and gave me extra practice problems on concepts relevant to my upcoming tests. Though I wasn't familiar with several concepts the class already covered before I joined, she would always make me feel included and catch me up so I was never left behind. Thank you so much Ms. Surbhi for all your help. I really appreciate what you've done for me in such a short time! - Student (A.D.), Mission San Jose High
When I first joined Ms. Surbhi’s classes, the difficulties I faced at school didn’t stem from the content being too baffling, or the tests being too tricky. I was only struggling because I wasn’t enjoying my time in Chemistry Honors at school. And yes, of course, I wanted to get an A in the class. But, even so, not enjoying the class made it that much harder to get. I knew I needed something or someone to motivate me, to help me find a way to enjoy the class content and to get the ‘A’ that we are all striving for. And then, my parents found Ms. Surbhi. Whether it's through cracking a joke in class, getting us to speak up and answer questions, or telling us stories about her extensive history in the subject she loves and adores, Ms. Surbhi doesn’t just teach us the concepts. She teaches us to love the curriculum. Like many teachers, of course, Ms. Surbhi checks in on our grades at school often. But before she does so, she asks what we’re doing at school and whether we’re enjoying our time there. And she knows that as long as we’re encouraged correctly and are enjoying our time, our confidence in this subject will grow, and the grades we strive for automatically follow. If you need proof that I’ve grown to adore this subject, I have it: Next year, I’ve chosen to take AP Chemistry. One of my friends, knowing that I’m more interested in the Liberal Arts over STEM, asked me why I’ve elected to take this challenging course. And before I could react, another friend and fellow student of Ms. Surbhi, responded on my behalf: “It’s because he’s in Ms. Surbhi’s class.” I’m not the only one that feels motivated and encouraged by Ms. Surbhi to further my experiences in this subject. Every single student would tell you the same. Thank you, Ms. Surbhi, for what you have given me: A newfound love for a subject I never expected to adore. - Student (V.), Cupertino High
Ms. Jain has been one of the best tutors I've ever had without a doubt. She teaches at a really fast pace, yet I am able to absorb most, if not all the information; something I rarely see in other tutors or teachers. It has helped me a lot this semester, going from an average of 70% on my tests to a 97% on my midterm! Her lessons are always brief and relevant, making the concept easy to understand while also being able to go through them at a fast pace, and the worksheets always build on the lesson giving me more resources when I feel like I need more practice. While the year isn't over yet, the lessons so far have given me the confidence I need in order to succeed and would definitely recommend this to others who need help. - Student (A.), Gunn High School
Ms. Surbhi’s classes have been an absolute lifesaver for me and I cannot possibly emphasize that enough. My chem honors teacher makes an effort to teach, but what she teaches alone is nowhere close to the rigor that is necessary to prepare us for the tests. Ms. Surbhi’s style of teaching is amazing and she goes at the right pace -- fast enough to efficiently cover topics but also slow enough to ensure that our questions are fully answered before moving on. Ms. Surbhi truly cares about our improvement, learning, and progress, and will constantly be doing personal check-ins regarding our homework/tests and performance in school to make sure we are doing well. I also like that her classes start at the beginning of the summer, because this gives us a tremendous advantage and keeps us a solid 2 months ahead of the school curriculum. Originally when entering chem honors I had the intention of just taking Ms. Surbhi’s classes to get an A in chem honors and stop chemistry, but thanks to her classes, I developed a tremendous interest in chemistry and I have decided to do AP chemistry and potentially even minor in chemistry in college. Overall, I cannot recommend her classes enough if you want to be successful. I will never forget you Ms. Surbhi! :) - Student (A.), Cupertino High
Teacher Surbhi's class, for me, was a different experience from most other classes I have taken. Her live tests gave me a chance to take make mistakes and learn from them so I never repeat them. She also provides lots and lots of resources in her google classroom to allow students to get as much practice as they want. Although, the biggest resource that Mrs. Teacher Surbhi gives her students is herself and her knowledge. She is literally always awake and ready to help you with any problems or questions you may have (No joke, I've never found a moment where she is not awake 0.0). The biggest thing I will tell an incoming Junior is to be attentive, and express yourself while you work and study because it makes it more fun and less of a chore. Speaking in a different accent is all the better too, teacher enjoys that. - Student (U.), Dublin High
I’ve been taking Ms. Jain’s classes from the beginning of the school year and it has made my school chemistry class go very smoothly. One really big benefit of this class is that it explains the reasoning and logic behind things, making them easier to understand and remember. Another really great thing about these classes is that the full recording of every class is shared. That way, if I miss a class or if there is a difficult topic, I can review the recording and fully understand it. Overall, this class has been really helpful and great. - Student (H.P.), American High
I'm so glad I joined Ms. Surbhi's chemistry honors class. When school started, I noticed my chemistry test scores and understanding surpassed a lot of my peers because of her class. She gave me - and all her other students - clear explanations and covered each concept in depth. She had practice problems for students to solve, and if they didn't understand, she would patiently explain the concept again. We had homework that helped us master what she taught, but she would understand if we couldn't do it (i.e not enough time, had something going on etc). In addition to all this, whenever I didn't understand something taught at school, I could always email her for clarifications. She seems extremely passionate about what she does. I highly recommend this class, because it's the reason I finished the first semester with a high A and overall she's an amazing tutor. - Student (K.), Lynbrook High
This class helped me develop my foundational knowledge of chemistry in a straightforward way. I didn't have honors chemistry in sophomore year, and taking this class in junior year proved to be helpful in supplementing my learnings from my AP chemistry course at school. The instruction and materials Ms. Surbhi provides is well enough to prepare anyone for the AP test. - Student (K.), Washington High
Ms. Surbhi's classes have overall increased my ability to perform well with her openness to questions, her ability to provide resources for concepts, and revision of topics learned as well. She explains each topic in detail and even though learning ahead can be a bit much sometimes, you would have already solidified the concepts before so when it gets to the point where you reach that topic in school, all you need to do is just a quick refresh. My school was a lot further behind than her class was and it was a lot easier for me to grasp concepts. There are also recordings that are sent out that we had the ability of going back to if the topic was covered in school and we were allowed to ask questions about past topics whenever it was needed. I would highly recommend her class to anyone planning on taking chemistry honors, especially if you want to take AP chemistry down the lane too! - Student (R.), Santa Teresa High
When I first started AP Chemistry, my understanding of certain topics in chemistry had insurmountable gaps and it was affecting my performance in class as I was unable to solve very basic problems without taking long periods of time. This was causing me to obtain low scores on tests. However, once I started AP Chem tutoring with Dr. Surbhi, my overall understanding of a lot of topics such as KSP improved significantly, as I was able to tackle problems without stressing as much or taking as much time. Dr. Surbhi not only helped me better understand the topic of KSP through detailed feedback and practice problems but also helped me gain confidence to do those same problems well on my tests which were something I never thought I would be able to do but was able to achieve with her help. Not only that, also helped me a lot with my homework problems by answering my many, painstaking questions no matter how repetitive they were. Furthermore, beyond just tutoring, she also provided me with her own personalized resources such as topic notes, practice quizzes, checklists, and outlines to effectively learn topics, which I appreciated a lot. However, the one thing that Dr. Surbhi did that truly helped me improve in AP chem was that she believed me when I myself did not, which was something I rarely ever experienced from other teachers I had in the past, which is why I can most definitely say that she is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had. - Student (N.), Silver Creek High
Mrs. Jain is a great teacher who puts lots of work into teaching students like me and preparing us for AP Chemistry. My favorite part about the class is working on problems in and out of class and getting better at them. I feel that AP Chemistry is difficult to self-study, however Ms. Jain makes it much easier for me to learn difficult concepts in a short amount of time. - Student (H.), Bellarmine High
I look back at June 2021 when I first started Mrs. Surbhi’s Chemistry Honors classes every Sunday, and I felt like it was the perfect solution to assist me in my journey of my school Chemistry Honors class, especially since my teacher’s teaching would be questionable at times. Especially coming back from a good one and a half years of fully online and virtual learning, I felt like starting the Chemistry Honors material ahead of time. From then until now, I truly believe my understanding of Chemistry had developed very well as I was able to stay on track. Not to mention, the live tests and other worksheets she had provided were huge helpers before exams. I would look over the live test questions at least 2-3 times a week and I would try to answer the questions on my own paper if time did not permit for me to finish the entire test. I really think that taking a look at the questions and trying to answer them on my own was very helpful as many of the questions given on the live test were similar to the school Chemistry Honors tests. Overall, I felt like Mrs. Surbhi’s Chemistry Honors classes were a very integral part in my learning and understanding in the subject of Chemistry and the class in my school. That being said, I would highly recommend this class to any incoming 10th grader. - Student (Ad.), Cupertino High
When I entered this class, I had little to no prior confidence or knowledge of chemistry. That all changed when I started to attend Ms. Surbhi's chemistry class. Ms. Surbhi is a very dedicated teacher, to say the least. She ensures that ALL of her students understand each topic, follows up with students and provides many external resources to better the knowledge of her students. One piece of advice I would give to her future students is to come to each class prepared and focused. Ms. Surbhi does not want to waste her time or yours, so coming to class with a curious and diligent mindset will benefit you and herself, and it makes the class more fun and attentive for everyone. - Student (V.), Irvington High
When I started AP Chemistry in school this past year, I did not realize the amount of help I would need to be successful in the class. In the first couple of months, I was not successful, so I sought help with Ms Surbhi. Her high expectations, many practice problems, and helpful answers are the reason that I am now successful. There was a lot of catching up to do, but she was very helpful in the process. If I had started earlier, my stress levels this year would've been lower because I would have had more time to learn and practice the concepts before being tested on them at school. Also, the earlier you start your preparation, the more likely you will do well on the AP test. In order to be successful, though, you cannot rely just on Ms Surbhi; you have to utilize her resources well in order to be successful. The class is hard, but Ms Surbhi makes it manageable and even enjoyable. - Student (S.), Las Lomas High, Walnut Creek, CA
I enjoy being in your class because I get to learn the chemistry concepts in depth. I like the slides, worksheets, and interactions during the class because all these help me in developing a sound understanding of the content. You are always available and supportive of any questions or doubts that I would like to clarify. As a result of being in your class, I am able to score at the top of my tests all time. Thank you Ms. Surbhi. You are a wonderful teacher. - Student (P.), Lynbrook High
I am a high school sophomore, and at the beginning of this school year, I was slightly nervous about my Honors chemistry course, especially since I lacked background knowledge. However, Dr. Surbhi is highly experienced, passionate, and devoted to teaching her students. During the months we have worked together, she has never failed to answer questions or clarify doubts. She makes the online class interactive and helps us offline, too. Even if I cannot make an online class, I can still watch the recording after so that I do not fall behind. With Dr. Surbhi's help, I am able to stay ahead in chemistry, and I do not get caught off-guard in school. I would recommend her for anyone taking chemistry, whether they want to stay ahead of school or need extra help. - Student (P.), American High School
Since I started her course mid-year, my experience with Ms. Surbhi’s classes was slightly different than others’ experiences; nevertheless, my experience with her classes is very positive. For one, the fast pacing of the classes was something that I had to adjust to but was very beneficial. The acceleration of the course meant that we covered concepts before my school chemistry teacher covered it. This meant that when we got to the topic in school, it felt more like a review rather than a first look. Also, because Ms. Surbhi is a significantly better teacher than my teacher at school (no disrespect to her either, she’s also great!), I find myself feeling much more prepared for school than before I joined her tutoring sessions. And since the class is fully recorded, I can just rewatch the class recording if/when I need to review a concept. Overall, she is a fantastic teacher who is also very understanding and rigorous, and I wish that I had started chem honors with her earlier rather than now. - Student (S.C.), Cupertino High
Surbhi teacher manages to make even the most difficult of concepts make sense with her helpful teaching. She explains topics thoroughly and provides students with a variety of problems to help facilitate the learning process. She makes sure every person is involved and no student is left behind. Her homework level is a decent amount and never busy work, just enough to help understand the topic thoroughly. She provides students with various supplemental materials and how to solve them. Surbhi teacher keeps up with every student, asking for their current progress and the new topics their teachers are covering. She makes sure to address each and every student’s concern and truly wants to help every student enjoy and get a good grade in chemistry." Sincerely. - Student (J.), Mission High
When my parents first told me about this class, I was skeptical. I was concerned about how well I would learn in an online format, and felt the different time zone Ms Surabhi was in would further complicate matters. However, after attending the first class, it became clear that Ms. Surbhi was a dedicated and thorough teacher who cared about her students, and committed to ensuring that we learnt the concepts and did well at school. She constantly asked us for updates on our grades, prepared weekly challenging homework and bi-weekly live tests and focused on the areas we were having trouble on. This helped me understand key concepts and cruise through the school curriculum. Ms. Surbhi is not only one of the best teachers for chemistry specifically, but also one of the best teachers I have ever had. As long as your children are attentive in class, and diligent with the assignments, enrolling them in her class would basically be guaranteeing them an A in school. - Student (R.S.) Irvington High
Ms. Surbhi is one of the best teachers I have had. She genuinely cares about the students in the class and makes sure no one is behind on the content. While she is willing to make changes to the curriculum to fit our school and our needs better, she is always ahead of the class, ensuring we know what’s being taught in class before the teacher teaches us. In the case we miss a class, her recordings are also available to us so we can look through them later. Not only that, but she is exceptionally quick to respond to questions offline. If any of us have any questions not cleared up during class, she encourages us to send her a text and immediately answers the questions, sometimes even sending a voice recording to help. - Student (C.), Irvington High
I started working with Ms. Surbhi in the middle of my first semester, and although I had started late, she went to incredible lengths to ensure that I was caught up by sending me Zoom recordings of the classes that I had missed. Over the few months that I have been working her, I have realized that learning with Ms. Surbhi is unlike learning with any other tutor or a teacher at school. What sets her apart is her compassion, commitment to helping her students, and her efficiency. Ms. Surbhi never fails to provide encouragement before tests and gives us extra class time for review the night before. In addition to having weekly classes, she is always available offline and will send a two to three minute recording of her explaining the problem after she has fully solved it, showing her untamed determination to clear my doubts. The first class that I attended, I explained to Ms. Surbhi that my learning style involves explaining the concept back to her to verify that I fully understood the topic, and ever since, she has accommodated my learning style, allowing me to recite concepts in class. In addition to being amenable to the study methods I use, Ms. Surbhi's teaching style has also proved highly efficacious for me. During class, she explains new concepts and immediately after, she provides practice problems to understand which concepts she has to place more focus on. Her effective teaching methods have reflected in my grades. During the first semester, I was getting consistent low Bs on tests, and was convinced that I was simply “bad” at chemistry. Last week, I got a 97 on my Kinetics test. Not only did Ms. Surbhi ameliorate my academic performance in AP Chemistry, but she restored my faith and confidence in myself with her undying encouragement and support. - Student (V.), American High
Ms. Surbhi is an extremely thorough teacher who really prioritizes her students. Through her classes, I have noticed that I can understand concepts much better because she explains concepts in great depth, and the resources she provides helps me assess whether I understood what she taught me. To any students who plan on taking Chemistry, my advice is to try your best to understand things but don't feel stressed out. At first, you might feel overwhelmed by all of the new information you are learning, but as long as you try your best to absorb the information, you'll do great! - Student (R.), Lynbrook High
I enjoy being in Mrs. Surbhi's class and it is a good way to learn about chemistry with more depth than a regular school class. The additional materials given outside of the lecture are very helpful when studying for upcoming tests. Mrs. Surbhi is always supportive of her students even if they have off nights. She is a very great teacher overall and I have not regretted my decision of joining. - Student (Am), Irvington High
As someone who struggled with chemistry since middle school, I would definitely say that Mrs.Surbhi's teaching has helped me a lot. It has helped me get scores on chem tests that I would have never gotten before and without any help. Mrs.Surbhi is very flexible with time, and truly does try to help each individual student to reach their maximum potential. For example, she shares her videos after class if you were absent, and also answers any questions one might have as quickly as possible through Whatsapp or Gmail. I would definitely recommend Mrs.Surbhi to anyone like me who struggled with chemistry, as she makes the learning process make more sense and also does make the class more fun to be in. - Student (K.), Del Norte High, San Diego
During my first semester of taking Chemistry honors, I gave up by the end of one or two months and I didn't have any motivation to study any of the concepts or the material because I knew that my grade was going to continue to be bad. Then during second semester I joined Dr. Surbhi's class and initially the concepts from the first semester were hard for me to catch up on, but watching her past videos and material she posted on google classroom it was easier for me to catch up. I think joining in the middle of the school year was still very helpful for me but I wished I joined her classes in the summer when they started so I got the concepts thoroughly. In her class I actually learned the concepts and not just the simple calculations. I found the study guides on google classroom and all the homework assignments and extra practice material she gave us very helpful because I could go back and revisit all the concepts. I also really liked that we got the recordings after every class so if we learn the topic later in school we can always go back and revisit the videos. This class is very helpful if you are willing to learn, focus in class, and take notes. - Student (T.), Lynbrook High
I have been a student of Ms. Surbhi's for a few months now and I can not thank her enough for the help and resources she has provided me. I am currently a sophomore at Cupertino High School and I am taking Chemistry Honors. The reason I began looking for additional help in the course is because I had not previously prepared and I was completely clueless in class. Although I joined Ms. Surbhi's class halfway through the year, she helped me go from being clueless to being ahead of my peers. Now, it is the second semester and I am already starting the semester with a high A. I do believe that it would have been more convenient for me to join in the summer before school started so I could have been ahead of my class from the beginning, so I do recommend that future students start in the summer rather than the middle of the year. Ms. Surbhi's classes and teaching is nothing like other classes I have taken in the past. For example, she gives her students access to different google classrooms that include many resources, worksheets, and practice tests for upcoming exams students have coming up. Along with that, Ms. Surbhi sends recordings of the classes, so if anyone needs to review the topic again or missed a class, they can always go over it again. She always looks out for her students to do well and genuinely cares for them. Again, I can not thank Ms. Surbhi enough and I definitely recommend her classes for any upcoming Chemistry Honors or AP students! - Student (S.), Cupertino High
I am so grateful to have Ms. Surbhi by my side this year for chemistry. With it being the first year back in-person, I was not sure what to except, but with Ms. Surbhi's help and support, I can easily grasp the concepts that I am learning in class. Although I am not taking weekly classes with her, Ms. Surbhi is always willing to accommodate to your needs with lessons and practice, ensuring a good grade on upcoming tests and quizzes. She is so hardworking, and gives extra help without hesitating. I am so thankful for her💗 - Student (P.S.), Mission High
Ms. Jain is an excellent teacher who takes great care of her students. Through several practice problems, mock tests, and comprehensive presentations, she ensures that students thoroughly understand the material. I joined her AP Chemistry class to self-study the AP Exam since I was taking Chemistry Honors in school. Her classes not only made chemistry in school extremely easy, but they are a fantastic resource to prepare for the AP Chemistry Test. She is also extremely willing to answer questions, in-class or outside, and her extensive knowledge of the subject is evident in the way she identifies relationships between different concepts. This allowed me, and I'm sure several other students, to understand how each concept interacts with one another, giving a big picture understanding of chemistry as a whole. I highly recommend Ms. Surbhi Jain's classes to anyone thinking about taking the AP Chemistry Exam since they are one of the best resources that you can use to prepare. Thank you so much Ms. Jain! - Student (A.S.) Bellarmine High
Mrs. Surabhis class really does help! Without I don't believe I would have gotten the scores I did in chemistry honors. The way she teaches the concepts in my opinion make it easier for me to learn. She is a very good teacher who cares for all her students. Chemistry honors is a very challenging subject regardless of how she teaches you and I believe you must do a lot of self study. Mrs.Surabhi does teach well but you must do reviews and read the textbook before tests if you want to survive in Chemistry honors. I would not take the subject lightly. If you understand that the class will become a lot more simple and in a way easier! - Student (H.K.), Cupertino High
I joined Ms. Surbhi’s classes in late December around when we had our first semester finals. When I started Ms. Surbhi’s class in December, I didn’t like chemistry because I didn’t understand what we were doing at school. As I started attending more of her classes, I was able to grasp the key concepts and how they apply to later topics, making the subject a lot more interesting. Before joining the class, I had a C, but currently, I have an A. Joining in the middle of the year was a bit of a setback as I was lacking the foundation needed for later topics. Starting chemistry classes earlier would have helped me get better grades and understand the subject a lot more. Regardless, I’m glad I joined this class because it has taught me so much and boosted my confidence. - Student (T.), American High
Mrs. Surbhi is a great teacher who has excellent knowledge about chemistry. Any questions I have she gives me in depth answers. Her lectures and teachings are very helpful. Her practice material is very thorough and helps to be confident with your learning. She is also very passionate about chemistry as a subject. All in all, she is an amazing teacher and makes sure her students understand the concepts properly. Thank you for your help and encouragement Mrs.Surbhi !! - Student (M.), California High
I took AP Chemistry classes with Dr. Surbhi, and they helped me learn so many valuable skills. She always checks that each student completely understands each concept and makes sure each individual gets attention, even in the group class setting. Even though I joined the classes late, she still made sure that I was able to catch up and stay on track with the coursework. Not only did I excel in Chemistry in this class, I also learned valuable skills, such as time management and increasing confidence. - Student (L.) at Mission High
Your classes have prepared me with the knowledge to not only do well in school but also to truly understand chemistry. As someone who had a year gap between AP Chem and Honors Chem, this class was a great refresher of the many many things we learned back in Honors Chemistry. The materials provided, from recordings to packets to slideshows, have been extremely helpful in ensuring that I properly understand the material. While I did have a very busy schedule this year, I was able to manage my time for this class by taking some time out of each day to complete any homework or learn any material. If I had not taken this class, I definitely would have struggled a bit (especially in the beginning) due to the fact that I forgot a lot from chemistry. It is important to work hard and do really well in the beginning so you can have a buffer in case you don't do well on a test (and because the material gets harder over the course of the year), and I don't think I would have been able to perform as well as I did without this class. This class not only does a good job preparing you for school, but also for the AP exam. I learned great tips that I did not learn in school. For juniors, make sure to start out strong in school, and ask questions if you are ever confused. Also, don't procrastinate. - Student (N.), Mission High
Before I joined Ms. Surbhi’s chemistry class, I had only taken a year of chemistry honors in the middle of the pandemic. I had several concept gaps, and the lack of practical labs meant a lack of understanding leading to lower scores than I had hoped for. When my junior year came around, I knew I would need to fill these gaps to meet the new level of rigor that AP Chemistry demanded. By joining Ms. Surbhi’s class in the summer, months before school even started, I felt as though I was actually understanding the concepts that I had missed last year. The recorded video class sessions and plethora of worksheet resources were amazing study material for my tests, and the recorded sessions allowed me to maintain my busy schedule while also not missing out on class. With our bi-weekly live tests, I was able to get a clear understanding about my conceptual strong-points by putting my brain to the test with a clock ticking in the background. This class provided me with study materials, practice tests, and with recorded video class sessions. Since we had gone over topics we were covering in school months in advance in class, I felt confident to raise my hand and answer questions. My journey with chemistry has been a rocky one, but overall I’ve come to realize that with enough work, chemistry is really easy. I would highly recommend this class to anyone planning on taking AP Chemistry, because this class has given me the confidence that I too can get a 5 on the AP Exam. - Student (R.V.), American High
I have developed effective time management skills while being involved in school classes, extracurriculars, and Ms. Surbhi’s class. Learning chemistry honors concepts during the summer helped me build a strong foundation, which made me confident when those same concepts were taught in class. It is important to practice effective study skills to make sure everything learned in Ms. Surbhi’s class is retained since we are ahead of the school curriculum and we move at a relatively fast pace. I keep a separate notebook for my school’s chemistry class and a separate one to take notes during Ms. Surbhi’s class to ensure that I am being an active learner. I also try my best to complete the homework posted on google classroom and peruse through the other worksheets. Looking at Ms. Surbhi’s comments and feedback after submitting homework is also very helpful. Whenever I can’t finish the homework in time because of a busier schedule, I make sure to thoroughly look through the answer key. - Student (R.), Lynbrook High
Dear Mrs. Jain, Thank you so much! Of course, it was your help that got me to achieve such high grades. For me, I tend to watch every meeting recording, pausing in the middle to take notes and catch up in order to get every piece of information down, so for me studying through recordings tends to get the information across at the best level. That is why I wasn't too worried about attending every live class, although they are extremely extremely helpful, I often use the questions you ask during the live meetings as a way to test my skills after I have completely understood the topic. I usually finish all the packets that you send(although I forget to turn them in almost every time:)) I think that the resources you send out are very helpful. I also review the notes from the previous class before attending a live class or watching a recording. To succeed in school, I often write all my material down by hand as I seem to understand and memorize the material better that way. I think that in order to achieve successful grades in chemistry, one simply needs to provide their full undivided time and attention to the subject. This is why I prioritized writing material down, going through the material, and watching recordings over attending live tests or meetings. I currently also participate in the biology olympiad and there are a couple of chapters on biochemistry that helped me connect understandings of chemistry to biology, a subject that I am very familiar with and adore a lot. I am also doing a science fair and the topic is a biochemistry topic. With the severe research I needed to do for the science fair, I was able to review and build up my previous knowledge of chemistry. I spend a lot of time on chemistry as it is a subject that I really enjoy and believe I am good at. But more than anything, during tests, I take a lot of time to understand each question and try to prove to myself why that certain thing is right. If it is a multiple-choice question, I explain and prove to myself why all the other options are wrong and why that certain answer is right. During Labs, I ask my teacher exactly what she expects and write each answer in extreme detail. But, at the end of the day, the feeling of having a reliable person to always ask questions to is a reassuring feeling that makes me feel obligated and more curious about chemistry, in other words without you, I may not have performed as well as I did! Thank you so much! Sincerely - Student (A.), Cupertino High
Dear Ms. Surbhi, For this Thanksgiving, I’d like to give a special thanks to you for being an amazing chemistry teacher and giving me a solid head start on chem over the summer! Chemistry is one of my most favorite subjects in school and I’m so glad that I am enjoying and doing well in my class. I am very grateful for your in-depth lectures and detailed slides as well as the helpful class discussions. When I would get stuck on a homework problem, I’d text you on WhatsApp and you would reply almost a second after, sometimes in the middle of the night to help me. Thank you for everything you have done. Best wishes! Student (T.S.), Cupertino High
So far, Ms Surbhi's class has been awesome! I have been taking AP chem for 1 semester now, and her class is the sole reason I have been able to get an A+. Ms Surbhi's lessons are very comprehensive, and if you don't understand anything in the middle of the class you can always ask. She is understanding but also strict which is great, because both are necessary to be a good teacher. Ms Surbhi is very enthusiastic about chemistry, which makes the classes very fun and engaging - you can really tell she wants each and every student to get a 5 on the AP exam. In addition, the video recordings of the classes are really helpful in case you miss a live lesson or want to review concepts. The live test sessions and plethora of practice problems on the Google classroom have also been really helpful, since just knowing the concepts isn't enough to do well on exams. Her detailed feedback on my answers really helps me to find and improve on my mistakes. Ms Surbhi is also very willing and quick to respond when giving help outside of class. One important tip for success is to keep reviewing your concepts. AP chem has a lot of content that you will slowly start forgetting, so it is really important to keep practicing any and all concepts that you haven't studied in a while. Consistent studying is the key to success, so make sure to block out time every week to study and practice. Overall, I'd highly recommend Ms Surbhi's class to anyone who is taking AP chem! For anyone considering the honors chem class, I definitely recommend that as well, as it helped set me up for the content in and rigor of the AP chem class. - Student (R.), Silver Creek High
I currently learn AP Chemistry from Ms. Surbhi and I can tell that she is a dedicated teacher and is passionate about what she does. She makes sure her students understand the concepts properly and knows a lot of chemistry herself. In fact, I’ve learned every concept from Ms. Surbhi rather than from my school. At school, our AP Chem class is lagging a lot and there would have been a lot of pressure since AP Chem is a challenging subject to self-study. Thankfully that is not the case with the help of Ms. Surbhi and it becomes easy to maintain an A grade at school. She gives us abundant practices and tests that are challenging but they help me get ready and boosts confidence for taking the AP exam. Thank you for your help and encouragement Ms. Surbhi, it is teachers like you that make it fun to learn. - Student (D), Washington High School
Ms. Surbhi tutors Chemistry Honors for me and I find her lessons extremely good. She is highly organized, well planned and way ahead of the class schedule, provides ample practice work, follows up on the performance progress in school with each student and gives enough breathing space to students for completing the homework and tests. I have improved my grades remarkably after taking lessons with her. Thank you Ms. Surbhi ! - Student (A.) Cupertino High
I am taking classes with Dr. Surbhi as a college student preparing for tough college level chemistry 1 and 2 courses and her classes have been exceptionally helpful with my progress in these courses. Dr. Surbhi prepares ahead of time for her classes with me and makes an organized schedule so I am able to succeed in my classes. She is extremely well versed in all the topics needed for my classes and her teaching style and extensive use of practice problems helps me grasp the material well. I am able to review the content we go through in our lessons with the zoom meeting recordings as well as through the practice worksheets she provides. Overall Dr. Surbhi is a very flexible and knowledgable teacher who cares deeply about my success. I would highly recommend her to any student who wants to learn Chemistry! - Student (S.) Washington University, St. Louis
Ms Surbhi is a very good teacher. She knows her stuff and the pace she teaches forces you to pay attention allowing you to learn better. I joined her AP Chemistry class without taking Chem Honors in 10th grade, but she still provided a lot of resources for me to catch up and did a good job teaching me the topics at a level where I could understand them. The resources she provides are very detailed and organized. it is clear that she takes a long time to compile all the resources for the students to practice with. Her live tests were a really good way for me to measure my knowledge and she provides a lot of good feedback on each of the questions that I got wrong. She also records her classes so if I missed any of them, I could go back and watch them which I found helpful since I don’t always have time to attend her class due to schoolwork. - Student (R.) Monta Vista High
Mrs. Surbhi is a great teacher. I joined late in the first semester, and Mrs. Surbhi managed to accommodate me into a batch that was learning at the same speed as me. I now see it is very helpful to be ahead in chemistry because, in school, teachers usually do not teach much and they go extremely fast (sometimes even covering chapters in a couple of days), which is not enough time to get a good grasp on it. Before, I also used to spend lots of time reading and taking notes on a chapter, because some concepts were not clear to me. But now, Mrs. Surbhi's excellent lectures and notes have helped me so much that I don't even read the textbook. In class, she would make sure we all understood the concept and taught it in an engaging way. Before I joined her classes, I was struggling a lot in chemistry, because I had no prior knowledge, but I feel Mrs. Surbhi has helped me improve so much in chemistry and even like it. Overall, I highly recommend Mrs. Surbhi to Chemistry Honors and AP Chemistry students. - Student (S.), Cupertino High School
Ms. Surbhi is one of my favorite teachers. When I first started with her chemistry classes, I didn't really know much about the subject, like most people. But her classes and the accessibility of the information in them, not to mention the extremely helpful homework and live tests she gave, were what makes this class special. Another great thing about the class is how accessible Ms. Surbhi is in general. She will make sure she is up to date on how you are doing in school, and is so helpful that if you have a test coming up, she often offers her own material to help you study for it. It's a great class and you learn a lot, I highly recommend taking it if you are interested in chemistry! - Student (O.N.) Irvington High
Thank you so much for tutoring me this second semester. The difference I saw from first to second semester was all from your help in making sure I understood each concept, even if you had to spend extra time. You always made classes fun and interactive while also pushing us to make sure we truly understood the topics. You went out of your way to provide live tests as well as assignments and always asked us about our school topics and tests so you could help us more. Thank you so much!! These classes have helped me a lot, especially in the way it’s all very organized and on a clear schedule that’s known to the students. You take time to work on topics students individually need which has been especially helpful. My grades have been doing much better since I started tutoring. For this class I normally take really messy quick notes during the class to write the information down and that night or the next day I rewrite the notes again neatly, so I can have clean notes to study on but also so I can review the concepts right after the class. Keeping a separate folder has helped because I look back on it for my school tests. The only thing would maybe for you to take a screenshot of the especially harder problems in class and post that on google classroom, but we already have the live recordings. - Student (H.) DVHS, San Ramon
I am an 11th grader from American High School taking AP Chemistry. This class is very good for anyone thinking of taking AP Chemistry as it prepares you very well. In this class, I am always learning content ahead in school so I am always prepared. In this class we learn all the content that we cover in school and in addition, we also do many problems that help us prepare for the AP test. This tutoring class has been really helpful for me and I 100% recommend it to anyone taking AP chem. - Student (D.), American High School
I would highly recommend taking Ms. Surbhi Jain’s AP Chemistry prep class. She is a very dedicated teacher and will give you all of the opportunities needed to succeed. In addition to having the entire roadmap of the course laid out very early on in the course and tons of practice problems and tests, Ms. Jain also offers extra opportunities to improve your knowledge such as live recordings and a boot camp. If you are planning on taking this class, make sure to focus 100% of your attention on the class during the session to absorb as much information as possible. I would also advise you to start these sessions the summer before the year you are planning to take AP Chemistry. Ms. Jain is an amazing teacher, and I would definitely recommend this class. - Student (A.S.), Bellarmine High School
Hello, I would like to thank you a lot for teaching me well, in my first science test (sig figs, dimensional analysis, memorizing all unit conversions, and scientific notation) I did really well, I used to make so many silly mistakes on the test and hw in your class. But I went over your cheat sheet for chapter 1 and your material and used it to study. I expected at least a 90% since it was a decently hard test. But when my teacher said only one person got a hundred or higher I got kind of sad because I knew for sure I had made a dumb mistake somewhere, but apparently I got a 104% on it. The extra credit problem was like 5.00 grams of silver into number of atoms with units/sigfigs and scientific notation and this is nothing compared to the more complex problems you gave. My class average was a B+ on this and apparently lots of people did not that great but your class really made me excel. Grateful - Student (I.S.), Irvington High
Dr.Surbhi is amazing! She tutored me for Chemistry Honors and she is very knowledgeable. I like the way she explains every concept in detail and makes sure everyone understands them. This class greatly helped me better understand the subject and is reflected in my grades. She is very organized and provides great resources that can be referred later for review. I am glad I had a tutor like Dr.Surbhi and most definitely recommend the class for anyone who wants to get ahead in Chemistry. Thank you Dr.Surbhi! - Student (V.K.), Washington High
First point I would like to make...the timings are very flexible. For example, I was initially set for a Tuesday session, but as a busy student, my schedule started to get backed up. Therefore, I requested for a change to a day that I knew would work for me 100%. And it did! I was able to attend my class continuously, with some school commitments coming in the way every now and then. Mrs. Jain is flexible around this too! As per the actual class curriculum, it is fast paced and requires your full attention! There are live tests every week online as well as weekly homework assignments. If you practice for even 2-3 days a week, the concepts become easier to grasp! Overall, it's a great way to ensure that you're ahead of your class, giving you an edge in your school tests and assignments.- Student (H.), American High
Ms Surbhi gives personal attention to each of her students and pushes us all to work hard. She makes the class engaging by giving all students a chance to solve problems based on what we just learned to reinforce the topic. Everything from the curriculum helps us get ahead of our school chemistry course so that we are prepared for it. She also makes strong bonds with her students so that we are comfortable asking her for help. I would definitely recommend Ms Surbhi’s course to all those looking to prepare for their chemistry honors or AP class. - Student (S.M.), Mountain View High
Ms Surbhi’s AP prep quizzes gave me really good practice for the AP exam. Ms Surbhi takes the time to go through the AP Daily videos, and she shares the key information with her students. She also goes over the answers to her quizzes right after you take them, which allowed me to reflect and learn from my original mistakes. On the AP exam, a lot of my friends were confused about how to approximate pH without using a calculator. Ms Surbhi taught this in her class, so I was able to do the problem quickly and accurately. I recommend working with her! - Student (S.K.), DVHS, San Ramon
The rigor of the classes was very helpful, it wasn't so much that I was struggling to keep up or overlapping with school work, but helped me learn all the material on time with enough time at the end of the year to just take practice tests. Ms. Surbhi's class really helped me a lot when it came to AP Chemistry as it is a very difficult subject and I used to struggle a lot when I took Chemistry Honors in my Sophomore year. This class really helped provide the rigor I needed to stay at par with my teacher at school and the homework was super helpful for extra practice. Without Ms. Surbhi's class, there is no way I could have come so far in Chemistry, especially considering my performance in the previous year. Three tips I would give students to help lead a successful Junior year would be to plan ahead so you don't miss crucial time during the year, only take up activities/subjects you enjoy, and don't procrastinate. If you follow these three rules, I am sure any student will have a very successful journey through 11th grade and achieve great things! - Student (L.), Irvington High
I felt that your classes were easy at times, but I had to study more for some topics because they were challenging or harder than the other topics. I felt good to learn new topics early, but I feel that your class was tough at times. And yes, your classes did take some time to study for per week, maybe 1-2 hours, but it was not too much time. Your classes really helped me to learn the topics in advance and I was able to do better in school because of that. - Student (A.), Leland High
Going into chemistry, I was very apprehensive of the subject. I had negative experiences in previous years of general science when we touched upon Chemistry, and I was very concerned about dedicating an entire year to this subject. I remember being very apprehensive about memorizing the Periodic Table, various different formulas, and above all, not understanding the topics. Through Ms Surbhi's course, I was able to build a strong fundamental understanding of the basics of chemistry, which allowed me to not only comprehend what was going on in the class, but to also have a strong foothold in absorbing later topics. Chemistry is definitely a challenging subject which requires time and memorization, but through dedicated effort and a strong guiding hand, I was able to get through. One of the most helpful aspects of Ms Surbhi's classes were the live tests, which provided a source of review of the topics learned, as well as an opportunity to identify which topics required more attention. Coupled with the fact that Ms Surbhi's class was ahead of my school curriculum, I was able to spend more time on each topic in order to gain a deeper understanding, as well as a plethora of opportunities to revise.
I would recommend her teaching to anyone who not only wants to excel in the subject with good scores but also fall in love with Chemistry. - Student (D.), American High
During freshman year my grades were counted in a pass/fail manner, due to COVID and I had passed all my classes. Sophomore year however we began grading normally and near the end of the year, I had an As in all my classes. Distance learning prompted much self-sustainability especially in education, so this year especially, I had to self-study much of my course loads in many of my classes to maintain my grades. At least two hours of my day were spent doing homework and teaching myself the curriculum. Many days I ended up with almost 0 relaxation time, but other days my day was free from all school work. It mostly depended on how well I was understanding the course and how much work we are expected to complete in a certain class. During the school year, I definitely got less sleep than usual since online school is very mentally demanding. I tried to sleep more on weekends to make up for the lost sleep, but many times it wasn't possible. Ms Surbhi’s classes were very helpful because they took away the self-teaching aspect I was expected to do. Chemistry in my opinion is a hard class especially since my school teacher could not teach well. These extra classes helped me actually understand the course and taught me more than I could have ever learned. Organization and using a planner was one thing that helped me stay on track and manage a busy schedule this year. I kept an old habit of noting down my homework throughout this year and this especially has aided me in not missing any assignments. Three tips that I believe will help you stay successful are to understand how much you can do, stay organized, and rest is important. It is vital to remember to not over-work yourself throughout the school year. Giving time to rest and take a break from school is something that has helped me from draining myself mentally. - Student (P. J.), Mission High
I had a great time learning from Surbhi as she provided many resources and explained the topics with detail - Student (L.). American High
Your chem classes helped me understand the concepts better and also practice more and I was able to manage the classes on most weeks. Success Tips for Juniors: I mostly just tried not to procrastinate too much and manage time better to not fall behind. I’d say don’t procrastinate too much, try finishing work on weekends, and ask for help if you need it. - Student (A.G.), American High
Chemistry class helped me greatly throughout the year as it provided me with explaining the concepts in further depth and allowing me to adapt a true understanding of the material. The class wasn't too rigorous so it allowed me to manage it well with my normal school work in class. I set small goals for myself and small rewards throughout the year which helped me push myself through the week and give me something to look forward to. My 3 most valuable success tips for juniors would be, set reachable goals for yourself and have a reward after completing them that will help keep you motivated, if you don't understand a concept or need help don't be afraid to ask your peers or a tutor, don't undermine your own ability to do the material. - Student (D.C.), Mission High
I've been taking classes with Ms Surbhi for chemistry honors in school and they are really helpful. I like the way she takes the time to make sure each student understands the concepts taught by giving feedback and explaining them thoroughly. She is very patient and I can tell that she enjoys teaching chemistry. I appreciate how dedicated and hardworking she is, and how her teaching style makes topics more interesting to learn about. - Student (S.S), American High School
Ms Surbhi really helps me strengthen my skills for AP Chemistry. She's really passionate about chemistry and very knowledgeable. She always answers individual questions in a kind way and gives me feedback on her homework assignments and practice tests which strengthens my confidence for my school tests. The format of the class is also helpful for reviewing before tests. I highly recommend! - Student (R), Cupertino High
I got all A's. Hours studied varied based on day, but a minimum of 4 hours. My sleep schedule was not very good and I didn't get much down time. The year was really stressful, but staying organized and planned helped out a little. I did not take your batch classes, but I feel like the one on one sessions I took were extremely helpful to me as my teacher was not teaching chemistry and I was struggling in the subject. Success tips for juniors: Stay organized (make to do lists, keep track of due dates), don't procrastinate, make time for some breaks. - Student (S.), Fremont High School
As a high school senior, I was tutored by Ms. Surbhi in my second semester. I was taking an incredibly difficult community college chemistry class, and I felt lost as I didn’t understand the teacher or the material. Ms. Jain was very organized and had an elaborate slideshow presentation already prepared for each topic that was taught in class. She helped build up my fundamentals and implemented many different example problems where I could gain practice. She was also very flexible. In each session, we would go over topics that I was unsure of and skipped the topics that I was very confident in so that we wouldn’t waste time. Overall, Ms, Surbhi is a great teacher and prepares her students for great success in their courses. - Student (N.), Irvington High taking the course at Foothill College
I truly think that Ms Surbhi’s classes were the only reason why I got an A in chemistry. I was struggling in the beginning of my first semester, but her classes got me back to par. I do not think that her classes were an extra burden as they provide sufficient work load, teach you the concepts you need to succeed, and they engage you into the topic you are learning. Teachers in school don’t even put half the effort that Ms Surbhi puts for her students. She creates in-depth lectures, she answers every single question we ask her outside of the class, and her passion for chemistry is reflected in her teachings. All of this combined helped me stay ahead of the class and do great in all of my school tests - Student (A.J.), Irvington High
I took six courses this past year: AP Computer Science, Pre Calculus Honors, World Studies, World Studies SS, Spanish 3, and Chemistry Honors. In the first semester I got almost all As with a B+ in math, and in the second semester I got all As. I normally had to spend around an hour extra per week on homework for Ms. Jain on top of the 1.5 hour class. We were given the full recording of every class. I often reviewed this recording when the topic was more complicated. Rewatching parts of this recording to review along with the homework would take around 1.5 or 2 hours in total. Considering that the classes made the school homework much easier for me, it largely balanced out. I was completing the school worksheets much quicker because I had already covered the topic with Ms. Jain a couple of weeks prior. I honestly had a so and so sleep schedule. Most weeks I felt fine, but on weeks with several tests I would sometimes lose out on sleep. I am also a teacher and Advancement Officer for YAPA Kids, a non profit that provides free tutoring for kids online. This was my main extra curricular, but I also did a Data Science Bootcamp at Berkeley and a Quantum Computing course at Stanford later in the year. As I mentioned earlier, being ahead of school in Ms. Surbhi’s class was ultimately helpful for me. I definitely felt overwhelmed at times still, because of all the other classes and ECs I was doing, but I really enjoyed everything I was doing so that helped me a lot. Three tips I have are: do classes and ECs that you enjoy, spend time with friends doing things you enjoy, and try to stay interested in the learning rather than the grade to keep you motivated. - Student (S.T.), Cupertino High
With your chemistry classes, I was able to prepare for whats ahead and make sure that I know everything properly and correctly. I was able to manage fairly well. Success tips for juniors: Make sure you understand the concepts, not just think you got 1 problem and think you're done. b) Try to take notes in class which will point out the things you need to know the most c) Don't cram everything last day! - Student (V.), University Prep Academy, San Jose
Ms Surbhi’s boot camp really allowed me to refine my chemistry skills and to review all the topics before the AP exam. She provided really detailed and personal feedback on the frqs and also gave explanations for each of the mcqs. There were a variety of questions that covered the scope of the course and allowed me to identify my own weaknesses so that I could study on my own later. Ms Surbhi also provided extra resources for us to explore during our time and also made previous AP tests readily available. - Student (V.), DVHS, San Ramon
The rigor of the classes was very helpful, it wasn't so much that I was struggling to keep up or overlapping with school work, but helped me learn all the material on time with enough time at the end of the year to just take practice tests. I used the first three hours in the morning (6 to 9) every day to study, which helped because that meant I could focus the rest of the day on homework (I had a lot of homework), and also allowed me to rest at night instead of working late. Success tips for juniors: Tip 1: Decide if you are a morning person or a night person right off the bat. Depending on that, organize relaxing time and studying time appropriately so you are studying when you are most alert/ focused. Tip 2: Decide the priority of your work. A lot of times, I had stuff that overlapped and it would be simply impossible to finish everything within the deadlines, so I prioritized the ones that I needed the most. For example, when I had coinciding Anatomy projects and English projects, I prioritized the English project (did a much more thorough work) than Anatomy because my grade was much lower. Tip 3: For subjects that you are weak in, start studying during the summer, it is beneficial to have a head start of a few weeks so if any is particularly hard, you have extra time to prepare before exams. Even if you may have to sacrifice a few homework grades, prioritize studying for tests. Some teachers (usually math) have homework as less than 20% of your grade, while tests make up 80%. In these classes especially, do practice tests, do anything you can to ace the tests. - Student (DIV.) American High
Ms Surbhi’s chemistry class was incredibly helpful in terms of helping me understand each concept well. Her practice problems and work she assigned was often my school homework with additional AP practice so that really got all of my AP Chemistry studying out of the way as well as kept me proficient in every concept. The constant practice and help that she provided really prepared me for the AP chemistry test and the AP course itself. Apparently AP Chemistry is supposedly one of the hardest courses at our school, if not the hardest, but I passed the class with flying colors and really excelled in every area with her help. The rigor in her classes with being ahead of my school made my life a lot less stressful since she kept me prepared and I had to do pretty little prep on the side allowing me to do more independent study on courses I felt I was weaker in. I survived well with so much on my plate by really allowing myself to have the weekends for myself. By getting all the homework and stress out of the way on the weekdays I really had time to hang out with my friends and family on the weekends. Some valuable tips I can give you is do not underestimate how much the year matters and start strong at the beginning of the year and build good habits (i.e studying, making schedules, time management, being proactive about assignments due on a later date). Another tip is really start using a digital planner or some form of a planner to plan when assignments are due and to kind of be able to see how your week should go and what you need to get done in that week. Lastly, do big projects or assignments such as labs a day before they are due so you have an extra day to look over them and compare with other people and make big changes. Think of the last day as a back up day and trust me it helps take a lot of pressure off of you. I started implementing this tactic last quarter and it was really helpful in staying ahead of projects and being able to turn in my best work. - Student (S.), DVHS, San Ramon
Ms Surbhi AP Chemistry classes SIGNIFICANTLY boosted my confidence for not only the AP Chemistry class (which at my school is known to be notoriously hard), but also the unpredictable nature of the online 2021 AP Chemistry exam. Ms Surbhi scours the internet for valuable practice and her compiled bank of multiple-choice questions, free-response questions, and wonderful, top-notch live sessions are better than any preparation book out there and AP Chemistry teacher out there! With her tutoring, I believe it is 100% possible to self-study AP Chemistry and get a 5 on the exam, of course, if you have the right mindset and dedication to commit to her class! I have never worked with a more dedicated teacher and all students who get Ms Surbhi as a teacher are lucky to have such a wonderful mentee in their life. Hands down she is the most down-to-earth, understanding teacher, and if you are struggling heavily with AP Chemistry concepts, her live content sessions are of such high quality; they are HIGHLY INTERACTIVE and simplify the content to make it understandable but they also challenge you with extremely good questions. It was very hard for me to survive with so much on my plate. I ended up missing a lot of the live sessions but the GREAT thing about Ms Surbhi’s class is that they are all recorded. Simply by watching all the recordings and meticulously completing all the assignments Ms Surbhi creates and FULLY GRADES with comments and feedback, I was able to perform well in the class and on the test. The most IMPORTANT thing is time management; there is no shortcut to doing well on the exam but with the right schedule and teacher, it becomes much easier! The 3 most valuable tips that I would like to share with juniors are: 1. Take advantage of online resources (student YouTube channels that share productivity tips, note-taking tips, etc., college preparedness websites like PrepScholar and CollegeVine), they will help you stay organized and give you a better sense of what to expect in the next two years! 2. Get good sleep and exercise. You don’t need to wake up at 5 AM to be productive but you need all 7-9 hours of sleep in order to be productive. In addition to that, exercise and eat healthy; the results will speak for themselves. 3. This is self-explanatory but manage your time. With standardized testing, multiple AP exams, rigorous course load, and extracurriculars to balance out, you are stretched thin and the energy rush working under pressure gives you while procrastinating is not sustainable. FIRST, work hard, then play hard. Google Calendar was a lifesaver for me during this online year and it allowed me to schedule meetings, exercising, hanging out with friends, and more, which allowed me to know what to expect every day. - Student (S.), Irvington High School
Ms. Surbhi is a very passionate and knowledgeable teacher and she puts great time and effort into her coursework. I am very grateful to her for helping me build my chemistry skills and succeed in both my classes at school and chemistry-related extracurriculars. I recommend Ms. Surbhi's classes to anyone looking to expand their chemistry knowledge to excel in their classes and beyond. - Student (P.C.), Irvington High
