"Can I forget the sweet days that have been,
The villages so green that I have been in:
Llantarnam, Magor, Malpas, and Llanwern,
Liswery, old Caerleon, and Alteryn?
Can I forget the banks of Malpas Brook,
or Ebbw`s voice in such a wild delight,
As on he dashes with pebbles in his throat,
Gurgling towards the sea with all his might?
Ah, when I see a leafy village now,
I sight and ask it for Llantarnam`s green;
I ask each river where is Ebbw¬s voice-
In memory of the sweet days that have been.

"When anxious, uneasy, and bad thoughts come I go to the sea...and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds..." Rainer Maria Rilke
"At the break of the day, and at evening`s close,
I love the sweet musicians who so fondly dwell,
In dear, plaintive murmurs, and the accents of woe.
I love the birds and their sweet voices
In the shooting lays of the wood." by Gwalchmai
