Continue reading below to learn about the process I used to develop the course.
To begin planning, I wanted to be intentional about defining the audience, learning objective, and design process. I chose to use the ADDIE framework to guide the project and accomplish this.
To develop a clear picture of the eLearning course structure, I used MindMeister to create a course map. I also used this visual plan for interspersing varied interactive elements throughout the course.
With the course map as my guide, I proceeded to storyboard the eLearning course using Google Docs. Doing so allowed me to flesh out ideas for content, interactives, and visual design.
Following along with the storyboard, I developed, curated, and authored the content using these tools:
Articulate Rise 360 to author and develop the eLearning course, which allowed me to quickly deliver a polished final product within a short turnaround time.
Canva for graphic design and royalty-free images
GIPHY for adding some light-hearted elements with GIFs
YouTube for including expert video content without creating it from scratch
Awesome Screenshot for capturing design elements
ColorZilla color picker for creating a consistent color theme throughout
Gemini for brainstorming design and content decisions
Wakelet to include a shareable resource collection
Padlet to embed a collaborative sharing and discussion board
Google Forms to collect user feedback
Since Articulate Rise 360 doesn't have a built in survey function, I choose to use Google Forms to collect user feedback upon course completion. Survey questions were developed using Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Training Evaluation as the framework in order to determine the course's effectiveness and to identify any learning gaps or refinements that need to be addressed.
