Welcome!

I am an Associate Professor in Department of Mathematics at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea. My research lies at the intersection of statistical learning and reinforcement learning, with a focus on developing scalable methods for high-dimensional data, particularly in genomics and bioinformatics. My work aims to uncover the biological mechanisms underlying diseases and complex traits.

In 2014, I received my Ph.D. in Statistics at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, co-advised by Jason P. Fine and Yufeng Liu. I did my postdoctoral training at University of Wisconsin Madison under Sunduz Keles from 2014-2017, and then worked in Department of Mathematical Sciences at University of Texas at Dallas as an Assistant Professor from 2017-2022. My bachelor's degree in Statistics and Economics and master's degree in Statistics are from Seoul National University.
