Take on specific projects that require a knowledge of the history of the Society.
Contribute input to Society activities, community outreach, etc.
TREASURER

Complete Annual Financial Report.
Complete and file Annual Report to BC Registries as per Societies Act.
Complete and file Annual Report to Canada Revenue Agency.
File Club Fees Report and process annual payment to BC Nature.
Provide Financial Report to directors’ meetings and AGM.
SECRETARY

Deal with SCNHS correspondence.
Arrange meetings of directors (3 or 4 times a year) and produce agendas with input from the other directors.
Take and circulate minutes of directors' meetings for approval by the other directors.
Take and circulate minutes of AGM.
DIRECTOR (Membership)
Brian McKenney
Collect membership dues, monitor electronic payments and liaise with Treasurer.
Update the SCNHS membership list and the BC Nature membership list.
Send a welcome letter to new members and submit their names to the editor of Marsh Wrenderings.
E-mail Marsh Wrenderings to the membership.
E-mail membership with details of upcoming meetings and field trips.
Provide Membership Report to directors’ meetings and AGM.
DIRECTOR (Editor of Marsh Wrenderings)

Produce the monthly newsletter, Marsh Wrenderings, which usually contains recent bird sightings, field trip reports, photos, new members report, forthcoming events and any other suitable articles.
Much of this content is provided by other directors.
The newsletter is sent out electronically where possible, but a few hardcopies may be required.
DIRECTOR (Webmaster)

Keep the Society’s website updated with forthcoming meetings, changes in directorships etc.
Liaise with other directors on website content.
DIRECTOR (Field Trips)

Organise the Society’s field trips which are the monthly bird walks and the occasional nature walk on other topics (eg geology, butterflies & dragonflies, botany, mycology)
DIRECTOR (Speaker Program)
Jack Pope
Organise the speaker programme for the Society, with suggestions from all of the directors.
Take into account speakers’ availability and preferences for Zoom or live meetings.
DIRECTOR (Meetings Host)

This role is usually taken on by the President.
Run the monthly meetings (live and Zoom).
Make announcements about forthcoming events, introduce speakers etc.
Lead discussion of recent wildlife sightings.
DIRECTOR (Community Outreach)

Foster an interest and appreciation of nature with emphasis on young people.
Liaise with schools and other organizations (eg Scouts and Guides).

Attend BC Nature AGM when possible.
