Meet the Owner – Grace of Sunshine and Friends Childcare

Hi! I’m Grace, the proud owner of Sunshine and Friends Childcare. My journey into family childcare was inspired by my desire to create a warm, welcoming, and home-like environment for young children—something I felt was often missing in larger group settings and corporate childcare centers.

In July 2024, I became a first-time mom to a beautiful baby girl, which deepened my passion for early childhood education and nurturing care. After years of experience in group childcare, I made the decision not to return to that setting and instead focus on opening my own Family Childcare program — one that combines quality education with the comfort of home.

I’ve always believed that children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and free to explore at their own pace. At Sunshine and Friends, I aim to give each child the first steppingstones they need to grow into confident, independent learners — all while being cared for like family.

A little more about me — I married my childhood sweetheart in November 2024 (we’ve known each other since Kindergarten!) and we share our home with our daughter and two sweet puppies, Stella and Daisy. When I’m not teaching or caring for little ones, you can usually find me relaxing at home, shopping at Target, or out on the field playing softball!

I’m so excited to welcome you and your child into our Sunshine and Friends family!

My passion for early childhood education began in 2019, when I started working in group childcare — and I’ve loved every moment since!

Over the years, I’ve worked with Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers, but I especially enjoyed my time in the Infant room, where I spent most of my career nurturing the youngest learners. In 2022, I stepped into a leadership role and became a Childcare Center Director, where I further developed my skills in curriculum planning, staff development, and creating enriching environments for children of all ages.

After becoming a Mom I chose to shift paths — moving away from the busy world of center-based childcare to open my own licensed Family Childcare program. My goal is to provide families with the best of both worlds: a high-quality educational foundation in a warm, home-like setting.

I hold a double bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Economics from Bridgewater State University, which I completed in December 2022. My education, experience, and passion come together here at Sunshine and Friends, where I strive to offer a space filled with love, learning, and laughter every day.
