Visitors can travel from Paris to Versailles by Train (SNCF) or by RER C train for less than 5€ one-way. There are three main train stations that are closest to the Versailles Palace: Versailles Château Rive Gauche, Versailles Chantiers, and Versailles Rive Droite. There are some bus routes that can take visitors closer to the Palace's front gates.
Versailles Château Rive Gauche is a station of the RER C train system. With about a 10-minute walk, this is the closest train station to the Palace. You can take the RER C train Paris to Versailles from several different stations in central Paris: Champs de Mars, Invalides, and Musée d’Orsay.
Versailles Chantiers is also a station of the RER C train system but with more frequent service than the Château Rive Gauche station. It is about a 20-minute walk from the station. See below for the location of the station and the walking path to get to the Palace.
Versailles Rive Droite is a station of the Transilien L train system. It requires about a 20-minute walk to the Palace. However, this is the most convenient train station if you are staying in the Paris districts on the Seine’s right bank. You can take the Transilien line L Paris to Versailles from Gare Saint Lazare train station in Paris 8. See below for the location of the station and the walking path to get to the Palace.
With Versailles being such a big plot of land and having so many wonderful things to see, Versailles will add a shuttle to get to the other plot of land where the attraction is held. While the shuttle isn’t mandatory to get to the plot of land, it will be an easier way to reach the attraction. The shuttle station will be at the back end of the garden with 1 of the 2 shuttles taking and bringing back guests. Here are the statistics of the ride:
7 minute Layover at The Sun Salon Attraction building
5 minute ride to Palace
3 minutes to unload/load
5 minute ride to The Sun Salon
The new path will follow behind the garden and with an overpass being created to accommodate the road next to the palace. Garden topiaries sculpted into different designs will be planted along the path to add that extra flair.
