Dr Yue Hu is a Lecturer in Photovoltaic Materials Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. She obtained her BSc in 2012 from East China University of Science and Technology and her PhD in 2016 from the University of Edinburgh. Her doctoral research focused on the design and development of ruthenium complexes and oligomers for dye-sensitised solar cells.
Following her doctoral studies, Dr Hu gained valuable experience at Huazhong University of Science and Technology before returning to Edinburgh to lead pioneering research in photovoltaic materials chemistry in 2023. Her research now focuses on the chemistry and physics of materials for photovoltaic applications.
Outside work, Yue enjoys Lego building, assembling IKEA furniture, rope climbing, karaoke, painting, board game, video game, escape rooms, and expoloring the world! She is also the author of Muggle's Guide, a Chinese-language travel book about Harry Potter–related locations across the UK, which has more readers than her research papers — and she is proudly fond of both!
